Dead Solid Bogey
Work was a rather uneventful….meh. Still looking like I will be here until at least Tuesday. One of the crew remarked that it look like a possible disturbance was building in the GOM.. I told him that the disturbance was closer, much closer than that. I am sure you all know “ who “ I was referring to…. Enjoy your weekend and if golf is on the schedule; may you only have fairways and greens to deal with. Mrsbell89
It was really bad weather here today with tornadoes that went through the FSU campus and a bunch of trees down everywhere but no damage to our home thankfully. Schools were cancelled so 3/4 of my family had a rainy day off. Good news is we are golfing tomorrow as a whole family… including my daughter! I’ve been getting her in on my bedroom rug putting practices and she’s agreed to come with us. We’re going early so I imagine the course will be wet. Any tips or adjustment suggestions would be appreciated. Also, wanted to share some of the cool solar storm light (whatever they’re called) pictures i got of the sky tonight! I hope and pray his injuries heal completely and that the mental aspects of being involved in a such an accident heal. EasyPutter
Good evening MGSpies and I think I am doing about as good as @Erin B right about now - started the left rear wheel bearings assembly replacement job when it was probably too early on a Saturday to be smacking a disk brake with a 5lb sledge but God has a way to make lessons appear and last, those challenges that never seem to end. Sheared 2 mounting bolts once I determined the parking brake shoes were not going to behave and let the disk go. But once they sheared was able to lower the combined disk, wheel bearings assembly and backing plate onto wood blocks for that 5lb sledge to knock the whole thing apart - that was satisfying. Off to the auto parts store where discovered they did not have the right bolts but another location a few mile further away did. Turned out they were for the front wheel bearings so went even further away to a Chevy dealer and waited almost 10 minutes for the parts guy to appear at his counter. They had only two bolts, exactly what I needed. Clouds started appearing while I was reassembling the parking brakes and rain arrived before the disk and brake caliper was finished. Since all the tools were out and the original intent was to do both the front bearings too (don't know which one was making the noise as modern vehicles with low cabin noise tends to centralize all sounds from the mechanical parts) I put up tarps to provide rain shelters and turned the vehicle around to get the front closer to the house. Rain got heavy once I had one front wheel off, removed the caliper, getting tools was now inconvenient and risked getting them wet (hate when a whole toolbox rusts), Initiative was lost, temp was cold enough to put the insulated coveralls back on that were necessary early morning. Weather radar showed rain would continue for an hour. Went in the house. Hour later with renewed energy, put the caliper back on, tire on, jack stand out and lugs torqued, Tools all put away, tarp dried best as possible, shed closed up, tools to basement (dry!) and the evening began. Test drive was only in neighborhood but was promising. Tomorrow will be telling with ride to Rochester area and back. Dinner was easy and satisfying. So is the Founders All Day Session Hazy Grapefruit IPA while I am typing this. Hey T Squared Putters! Now that would have been a great test to participate in! UPDATE for you Robert @rkj427 The offending wheel bearing has been replaced and original front bearings will continue service as they have and replacements will be returned as unnecessary. I did rotate that hub before dumping it into the trash bin and perceived nothing unusual in its unloaded state, so the discovery of no bearing noise this morning was a joy indeed. I had done a brake job on my 81 Ford F-100 and was driving it to town and started hearing some humming noises coming from the tires only to discover the lugs were loose. I promptly tightened them back up and made sure they weren't going anywhere. EasyPutter, Northern Monkey, Erin B and 3 others 4

That's one of those fears I have, a tire coming off while on the highway or interstate. Erin B
Finally got home from Laramie. Finished Zoey’s closet but found a leak in a pipe in the basement. Sooooooo had to run to the hardware store all while getting a BBQ together, told the spousal unit not to use the kitchen sink until I got the leak fixed. And did I mention we had roomie prospects there for the BBQ? Anyway, had to rip out drywall to get to the pipe. Come to find out the previous owner had cracked the clean out by putting teflon tape (a lot of it) to fix a leak that was actually an expansion joint. So had to cut the pipe and get both a new clean out and new expansion joint. It had been leaking for a while, so had to pull more drywall to let it air out. So got all that done before eating a nice, juicy, med rare ribeye! Thank goodness my buddy Ben was there to man the blackstone whilst I was elbow deep in fixing a pipe. Good times!!! Oh and good evening and happy Mother’s Day! I’m beat! rkj427, Josh Parker, Northern Monkey and 5 others 3 2 3 Quote I could play golf every day and learn something new each time.
