revkev
I just finished a round with Golfspy Tim and I played so well that I just made a $500 online purchase at Golf Galaxy. Yep, that was a round for the ages. Nothing like figuring out that you are fighting your equipment... To. Foz that hole is a bear. I need to come over the bay and play with you again soon. How about a home and away? My 18th has it's issues off the tee. The second shot is going to be the same length as yours to a green surrounding by sand but no water. SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted August 30, 2014 SPY VIP Share Posted August 30, 2014 I guess you'll find out shortly if it's the Indian or the Arrow. Come on arrow Do you think the i25s were just a bad fit? I think that there is something there that just doesn't match up with me right now. Maybe I'm a bit all over the place with the swing, or maybe the struggles that I had during the fitting led to a poor fit. It's hard to say. When I was playing the burner irons, I had been fit into the standard specs, so I have high hopes. Come on 2010 tech FWIW, I would look at the more recent TaylorMade irons too, but the slot feel is not my favorite and RBZ was a cosmetic no-go. Thus back to Burners... kygolfer1980
So I was also playing with a friend who bought my old 2009 Burner irons from me. My i25's and myself have not been communicating well these days. Coming up short. Really short. Like 135 yard 5i short. As I was bitching about it, he suggested I hit his irons to see if it was a gear issue rather than my swing issue. After hitting a few shots with the Burners, it was pretty clear that it's likely a gear issue. Old irons = old distances. Go figure. I ordered a set of the Burner 2.0 irons from GG for $299 as soon as I got home. Then I impulsed into a green Bio Cell driver. I am liking the Bio Cell Pro quite a bit, but that green just sucked me in. Not the Master's limited, just the Dicks/GG exclusive. It was total impulse. We will see on that one... They have some sales going so it was irons+driver+overnight shipping for about $490 I picked up the JPX EZ forged about a month ago. So far, I would say they are the best golf pick up I have made in a couple years. Pretty forgiving on mis hits and very nice feel. revkev
I looked at those when I got my Wilson's Matt and the only thing that stopped me was the $400 difference in price. I'm happy with the way I hit the. Wilson's but hate, probably not a strong enough word, the way they look. I'm not looking at another iron though until I see what SCOR does with Hogan. For starters they seem to get the game and they've also built four free wedges for me that I'm currently bagging I believe I owe them first dibs on my next purchase. jpcgolf
Shot 74 in a tournament. I played pretty well, but I had some missed opportunities. I missed a 3 footer strait uphill on fifteen for birdie, and I snap hooked my drive on 18 way left into a hazard that was not even supposed to be in play, and I made bogey. Salmon
Well SeeRed, I joined your ranks this last Saturday. I had a horrendous 21 point stableford round with a total of 43 putts. Lets just say I was getting very close to snapping my putter by the end of the round, but it also didnt help that I had trouble just stitching two shots together. Finally booked in with a Ping rep to get a full fit out for a putter through my teaching pro so hopefully that will help. I have struggled to strike or roll my scotty consistantly for so long I can't even remember the last time it felt good. I'm hoping with a new karstan anser 2 or something possibly even better suited to me will help me gain my confidence in my stroke back. revkev
I shot 77 in a little Labor Day tournament. That was good for second place gross in the senior division. I also won a skin and a closest to the pin. It was a fun day but 4 1/2 hours with a 10:30 tee time at this time of year really takes it out of you! Really tough course, the score in the championship flight was a 74 and the kid who won plays at UCF so you get the idea. Obviously he was back a set from we old farts but we had to deal with the same thick rough, pin placements and fast greens. RoverRick
The club championship was this weekend. I stunk. I started a new job this month, and golf for the past few weeks has not been a priority. I did go out to qualify on Tuesday evening with a buddy. We were like one under through 7 holes when a storm hit. We had to pickup where we left off on Thursday. The problem was on Wednesday I started organizing my work and that was all I could think about on Thursday. I shot 8 over on the next 10 holes, and honestly did not care. So I entered the Championship anyway, in a lesser flight. and could not concentrate on golf. I pulled a muscle in my back on the third hole, and while that made a difference on a couple of holes, it is not an excuse for not winning my match. I should have won 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15 ,16, and 17 but won none of them and lost on 18. No golf on Sunday, and spent the rest of the weekend working. Today, I had completed my organization and went back out to the course. My back is still sore and did not even hit driver or attempt to hit over 200 yards on the first 10 holes, and killed them. I shot a 76 with 21 putts and 3 chip ins. My mindset was right even though my body did not let me make all the shots I wanted, the short game and concentration was great. Jmikecpa
Played a scramble yesterday for work to glad hand some politicians at the Tuxedo Club in upstate NY and can not say enough good things about the course. Great conditions and a nice layout that has some great risk reward holes. Took three other guys that I work with and the highest index in the group was a 5.1....needless to say we won it going away with a 59. Saw a first in a scramble that a team actually failed to break 90 which amazed me. The only thing that was a bit of BS was the long drive hole where two caddies and the Asst. Pro watched me hit my tee ball and all three said that in their years at the club they had never seen a ball where mine was on the hole. The pro even said it was about 35 yards past the longest he had ever seen and it "somehow" did not hold up. Jmikecpa
Saturday before Labor Day of 2014 will be one of those days I will always remember, I finally broke 90!! went 44 on the front & 45 on the back. Could have easily been lower, had a greenside bunker shot for birdie stop about an inch from the hole & had a few par puts lip out. I know 89 isn't a big deal for a lot of you but it is for me!! Regardless of skill level milestones in this game that people reach are always a great accomplishment that should be applauded. Well done and congrats on a very nice round sir. revkev
Bet you weren't as happy as the first time Kenny. I just got home from playing the par 3 course that I used for the SCOR testing. So long as I'm hitting driver well and it's not crowded I'm practicing there. No one cares if I hit five balls on a hole so long as I fix my ball marks and don't slow play down. In just over an hour I can hit 30-40 full shots, a variety of chips a pitches, sand shots and putts another 40 or so of them. Out of 30 balls that I played out I made 28 pars and 2 bogeys. The no birdies was weird but it was what it was, I had looks just no makes. I hit two hybrids, one from the rough behind the 3rd tee, made the hole 173 uphill, into a slight breeze, a nice 5 hybrid that I hit on 25 right, hole high. The other was on 9, 187 to a smallish green guarded by a bunker right. It was the only ball that I teed up on because it's similar to number 8 and number 15 on the big course and 15 has been killing me. Started it at the left edge of the trap, nice high draw that ended up 17 feet short left of the pin. Very good way to end the day.
