7 wood fever anyone?

The cobra is the top dawg here, I used to play a cobra baffler 7 wood with the rails back when I was a junior. Thinking about getting back into a 7 wood now. Will more than likely be a TSi/TSr2 but they look like such a no brainer now

Ill check it out.  How far do you carry a 4 iron? I ask because I am hoping to replace mine with a 7 wood. 200-205 is my carry goal with a 7 wood.

I replaced my 4 iron with a 24 degree Cobra LTDx 5 hybrid.  It is my 185 to 195 yard club.  I confirmed this at my recent fitting for TPT Golf shafts.  My average carry over 9 shots at the fitting with my current hybrid was 192 yards.

Here’s a couple pictures of the Tour Edge E723 7 wood.

I had a Cobra LTDx 7 wood prior to my current Tour Edge E723.  They are very different clubs.  Prior to the Cobra I had a Tour Edge XCG7 7 wood.

The Cobra LTDx 7 wood has rails on the bottom but the biggest difference is the size of the head.  The Cobra LTDx looks like a very tiny driver.  Deep face, compact from heel to toe, fairly roundish looking and not that large from front to back.

Here’s a couple of pictures comparing theTour Edge E723 and the Cobra LTDx 7 woods.

The Tour Edge XCG7 has a very shallow face and a very flat looking, almost pancake shape.

Here’s a couple of pictures comparing the E723 and the XCG7:

The new E723 has a shape that is in between the two.  It has kind of a slightly triangular shape from front to back.  Shallower face than the Cobra LTDx. Slightly shorter from heel to toe than the XCG7.

All three are easier for me to hit higher and straighter than a comparably lofted hybrid.

My 24 degree hybrid flies lower than the 21 degree 7 wood.

I've been curious about replacing my 3H with a 7W because I hit my 3H pretty low, but haven't pulled the trigger on testing it out. Anyone have any luck switching from a 3H/4H to a wood?

I have a Ping G430 SFT 7 Wood and I absolutely love it!  It replaces my 4 iron and I love the ball flight and how it lands softly on the greens while being very easy to hit.  It's my go to club for longer Par 3's.

I’m definitely considering one, but more so out of curiousity than need.  It would be a 3 hybrid replacement, and I hit that club perfectly fine.  But, I’m always tinkering, and there is a Ping G430 in the clubhouse that always winks at me.

Is it just me or is it hard to find a 7 wood with a stiff shaft off the rack in the big box stores?  They all seem to be R flex, or even senior.   I typically know what I want shaft wise though, I suppose I could just hit an R flex to get a feel and then just order what I want…

Had a Stealth 2 last season, was super easy to hit, ordered it with the ventus red shaft. Would have kept it, but when my brother tried it, he wouldn't give it back, just e transferred me the money on the spot 😆 wasn't too mad, we were on the Masters trip, and he gave me one of the tickets he won, so I said nothing haha.

Fast forward to this year, the 4 hybrid I've been playing was definitely a mediocre fit for me, so ordered the Ai Smoke, and man oh man, that's another sweet piece of kit.

definitely in play for those longer par 3's, and tighter fairways .

we got a pool and a pond... the pond would be good for you

I've been heavily debating adding a 7-wood to my bag rotation in replacement of my 2-iron. I'm trying to keep my eyes peeled for a good deal, but everything I've read about 7-wood makes me want to add one. Love my 2i, but I think it's always good to have options depending on the conditions/course, etc.

You may have heard this before but keep track of the deals on Callaway Golf Preowned. Since you seem to have the time, you can wait for what you consider a good deal. You may want to sign up for emails. I receive their emails and they have 1 day flash sales fairly often.

Epic heaven wood with a 5 wood shaft.

I don't believe among the well known brands that there is a bad 7 wood. It just seems to be one of those clubs that is easy to hit. Maybe it's the standard-ish shaft length and loft with enough clubhead room for MOA magic, but they all seem to work. Kind of like 6 irons.

I've been keeping an eye out for a reasonable priced 7wood, but they are the most elusive club, ESPECIALLY for us lefty's 😞 I've seen them for either $350 for new models, or up to $200+ for 5 year old models. How is this still possible?

Super cool.  I actually think the bigger head of the e723 looks harder to hit off turf. Opinion Solely off your pictures.

There mostly regular because Golf hangs in the past believing a7th wood is necessarily a poor player instead we only get so many options and each club earns a spot or doesn’t play with friends!

Funny when DJ started killing them they created more hybrids options, hypocrites on what’s best for whom! It get er done as easy as possible, still freaking hard period!

Enjoy!

It is not you.  7 woods have generally been for players that needed a little help getting the ball in the air so the ones that are most often stocked have softer flex shafts.

Finding one with a stiff or x-stiff shaft can be difficult.

Even if you find a stiff shaft it tends to be a little light.

I’ve had to reshaft my current 7 wood and the previous one to get a heavier and stiffer shaft with less torque.  With the stock shafts I tended to hit high hooks with them.

Once properly shafted they are like having a cheat code.  Easy to hit high & straight.
