7 wood fever anyone?

Hey guys,

what is your favorite 7 fairway wood and why? Wanting something super easy to hit.

I love my Frankenstein cobra f8 5/6 wood head with a 7 wood shaft. Myself and two buddies swear the cobra rails on the bottom make it effortless to hit.

Cobra Aerojet Max. Easy to hit. Drops and stops. Good distance and a straight shooter. It is just so reliable. I had a Cobra F6 before this one, but this one is even better.

Played a 7 wood in the 70’s! A knock off brand but killed it more than a great 5 wood in HS! They’re really long and better distances than my 2 present hybrids which are ridiculously long, easy and straight!

have 2 18* callaway rouge

23* Rouge ST a beast got cheap from Used Callaway but still in plastic!

enjoy!

Another 7 wood fan here - just like @Tom the Golf Nut with the Aerojet. Incredibly easy to hit and flies / stops where I need it to.

I actually got a circa 2000ish Big Bertha Steelhead III 4+ wood and a 7 wood in great shape from Callaway Pre/owned late last year. I absolutely love them. The 7 has just been so easy to hit and gives me a lot more confidence for those longer range approaches.

Currently testing Ping S159 Wedges!

I’ve had one for 5 years. It’s my club for 155-165 yards

Played golf for over 50 years until my health and business calendar reduced my time to less then 5 rounds a year. Then 4 years ago I retired, changed my diet and lifestyle, lost 100 pounds and got back on the course. Its been a struggle but things are getting better.

Don’t have one “at the moment” - but all the love being shown this club has made me think about changing it up a little.  I’ve had great success hitting my older 5w’s and especially the SLDR 3HL,  thinking a 7w would fit nicely and replace my 4h living in that space….my son occasionally games his old r7 7w and loves it.

Tour Edge Exotics E723 21 degree 7 wood is ridiculously easy to hit!

Great for long par 3 tee shots.  It replaced my 3 iron and sits between my 16.5 degree 4 wood and 24 degree 5 hybrid.

It is paired with a Diamana Thump F85 stiff shaft.

It is my 200 to 210 yard club and is excellent for approach shots that need to fly high and land soft.

The SLDR 7 wood will be a beast for both short par 3’s or really tight par 4’nn

I've got the PXG 0311 proto 5 and 7 woods from like 2 years ago. That 7 wood is a game changer for me as it fits nicely between my 5 iron and 5 wood. may try and see if I can try some new ones out, but getting those two out of the bag will be a chore for any 7 or 5 wood.

I am beginning this season with a 5W as my only fairway wood, then I go to 5H. Once I have played enough with this setup, I can determine whether should add a 7W back to the bag. I gamed one for the past several years (a Cally Rogue Max ST) and loved it, so I suspect a return may be in the cards.

Add another for the Cobra Aerojet Max 7 wood. Got the fever to try one last year so bagged it during the Cobra challenge. Effortless high launch, easy to hit a draw when needed and as @Tom the Golf Nut mentioned, great stopping power into greens. I absolutely love it.

Ill check it out.  How far do you carry a 4 iron? I ask because I am hoping to replace mine with a 7 wood. 200-205 is my carry goal with a 7 wood.

@GolfSpy SAM just picked up a couple LTDx fairways. I have never owned one with the rails, but if it could possibly easier to hit than the AJ Max fairways I would truly be amazed. There are great deals to be had on the LTDx line right now though!

The deals have me torn between aero and ltdx max. I did read an article that they got rid of the rails due to it interfering with the way the old powerbridge was engineered 🤷‍♂️

Interesting! I mean if at all possible, hitting them head to head would be a great option if you have a PGASS or the like close by. They are probably a horse a piece, but feel can definitely vary.

I've been heavily debating adding a 7-wood to my bag rotation in replacement of my 2-iron. I'm trying to keep my eyes peeled for a good deal, but everything I've read about 7-wood makes me want to add one. Love my 2i, but I think it's always good to have options depending on the conditions/course, etc.

Unfortunately closest golf store is almost 2 hours away. closest pgass is 6 hours.
Ive learned to find good deals and if they dont work out just sell for the same price to hopefully break even.

I have a feeling a 2 iron will go further than a 7 wood.   I hit my old 2 iron the same as a 5 wood.

Definitely would not be an identical swap in terms of yardage. I just like the idea of having a 7-wood vs. a 5-wood for approach shots and long par 3s. But either club would be in that gap between 4-iron and 3-wood for me.
