zbitzer83
Looking to purchase a rangefinder. Not needing to break the bank, but don't want junk either. Suggestions based on real life usage?
Hosel_Rockets
If you, or someone you know, has a Costco membership check out the CaddyView V3 from CaddyTek. I have used the V2 for a couple of seasons, and it's been very solid! For the price, it doesn't get much better, though if it's still a bit more than you wanted to spend keep an eye out on EBAY for a used one! There is a solid review on the forum as well, though for the V2. Hope this helps! zbitzer83 1 Quote WITB: Driver - LTDx 9* w/ Mitsubishi Chemicals Kuro Kage 70g Stiff Shaft 3 Wood - LTDx 15* w/ Mitsubishi Chemicals Tensei 75g Stiff Shaft 7 Wood - AI Smoke Triple 20* w/ Project X Denali Black 70g Stiff Shaft Irons (PW-4 Iron) - P790 w/ Oban 115g X-Stiff Shafts Wedges (50, 54, 58) - SM9 Putter - Studio Stock 28 Armlock w/ Super Stroke Grip
CrazyGolfNut
I have been using the Precision Pro range finder and I am very happy with it. I have stood next to golfers with another "Big Name" brand and find that they are almost the same and may be a yard off either way but very close. And, Precision Pro provides free batteries. chisag
... I have found Bushnell to be the best, providing excellent speed and consistency for yardage, although their customer service is absolutely abysmal. I have owned several of the discount brands and they all do a good job, including the Costco at $119, but they are much slower and can be more difficult to lock on a flag when there are objects in the background. zbitzer83
Went with the blue tees 3 max plus. So far so good. Locks on to the flag pretty quick, clear view, and some nice features for the price. (199) on amazon!
Remo
I’ve had a GoGoGo for going on 3 years now. Works great, locks the pin in less than a second, doesn’t pick up background clutter. Just replaced the battery for the first time a few months ago. Works every bit as well as the $300+ units. They’re all over eBay for $50/$60. barney_bogey 1 Quote Taylormade Sim2 Max 10.5*, Fujikura Air Speeder Adams 2021 Tight Lies 3W Adams Idea Pro Tour Prototype Hybrids 20* & 23* Mizuno MP-59 5/PW Cleveland 588 51*, 56*, 60* Cleveland HB
Shrek74
Take a look at the Vortex Golf rangefinders. They have 4 options. They're waterproof, shockproof, have some of the best optics (from some of the best hunting/shooting optics around), and have a lifetime warranty. See the link in my signature to see our current forum test of the units. AP Major
I've been using the Bushnell Tour V5 Shift since 2021. The distance measurements - slope optional - are accurate, and it provides clear confirmation through a light and vibration when you lock onto a flag. It has shown impressive durability, and although it may not be the most affordable option, I consider it a long-term investment as the build quality is tops. 57charlie
I had used 2 Bushnell rangefinders probably for the last 15 years or so but this year felt a need to upgrade. Countless hours of online research & reading dozens of reviews of numerous makes & models led me to purchase a Shotscope Pro ZR Laser Rangefinder. I bought it online direct from their UK address sight unseen as I couldn't find a retail store in Alberta that had one on display. I've been using it since the start of the 2024 golf season and I'm happy to report it performs quite well. Good optics, it's quick to dial in the pin/target and the slope feature seems to be very accurate. I can say it has met my expectations. JDHolmes
I've used Precision Pro. Only last past the warranty. Used a $600 (forget brand), worked great for 3 years and they wouldnt live up to their lifetime warranty. Bought a cheapie, under $100, and it lasted as its price indicates. Finally dropped $400 for a Busnell and its worked great for 3+ years. Replaced the battery once. Love the magnet on the side.
