2013 TaylorMade Burner OS Irons

For those that might have missed this release overseas (launched on the 1st of October 2012) here is a look at the new Taylormade Burner OS Irons:

These are going to sell in pretty good numbers over here. Good price and looks nice for an SGI iron. TaylorMade hasn´t really had an iron in this category. The Burner Plus was discontinued, Superlaunch was too much super-duper SGI and RBZ Max was to expensive and to be honest a little bit weird.

Which is a bit of a shame. I recently picked up a set of 2011 Burner 2.0 irons on the cheap. Finding them to be very good for a mid teens handicapper (and based upon the first two rounds with them, could find that number dropping again).

They're the RBZ irons with a different badge in the cavity? Same finish. Same lofts. Looks like about the same size.

I think they´re actually between RBZ and RBZ Max. And they´re a lot cheaper.

Can't stand the dimensions on these things! Somehow these days a 5 iron in 25 degrees? My 4 iron is 24 degrees! I guess people are naive enough to fall for it so they keep doing it.

You do realize they have to lower the loft for the club to behave like a 5 iron. Because the CG on them is so low it launches the ball very high. With a standard loft on the irons the 5 iron would look like a 6 iron ball flight. What needs to change is the marketing behind longer irons, not the specs on them. They have to lower the lofts to keep the ball flight down. Nobody wants to have 8 9 irons in their bag.

Are these a Japan Only or possibly a (for us west coasters) a Nevada Bobs/GT ONLY release? TM is none for this here, basically taking a japan release and providing just one or two retailers with a special only release....

Dude, I was out there today, the hit cage reminded me a dungeon where I had to adjust my swing to avoid hitting the ceiling.....Kinda Alan Doyle like.....
