Flea market finds!

I picked this up for $2.99 at the Goodwill a couple of weeks ago.  Put it in play and amazingly it still played nicely.  Good feel off the face.

It is a 1984 TP Mills #9 Spalding putter with the original grip still in excellent condition.

I do the thrift store thing a lot. In fact some of the guys I play a regular game with remark if I ever go on the minis again Goodwill should sponsor me. I also drive a truck for a metal recycling company and you would not believe what I find and buy cheap. I will post pics of my latest haul including a TP Mills Spalding #8 and BTW I have 2 #9s

 

 

 

Ended up with a bunch of George Izett woods and Toney Penna persimmon woods

A crap load of Wilson JP and FG wedges  18 in all. And the TP putter and also a Tad Moore Maxfli #8. Even found a Momentus swing trainer club. In the past no joke I found 2 Cameron putters within 2 days in fact the Newport is my gamer now. That haul Friday I paid scrap price for at $5 for over 50 clubs. I already sold the set of old Hogan Apex irons for $25. I am an old club hoarder from way back. I think I am the resident antique club player and hoarder on MGS

Here is the pics of the Camerons. I think I may have $5 in both of them because I bought a new grip for the Santa Fe. The Newport I salvaged a SS Slim off of another POS putter I found in the pile. I also salvage good grips because I will pull them and reuse and the boss does not charge me by the pound on that as long as I return the club it came off of. I will also buy a junky club with a good grip at Goodwill for a$1.99 and pull a  $6 or $8 grip in the drop of a hat

 

 

 

Like it states in my signature the Santa Fe is rusty as heck but it putts good that is why it is Named "Rusty" I have already checked with the Cameron shop and it will need extensive and expensive work to be restored

Actually down here it can be a sad part of life. What happens a lot is some one retires down here to play golf. When they pass on (as we all will do someday) the relatives come down to clean out and sell the house. Lots of clubs are donated to the thrifts or ought right scrapped because folks do not know what they had because they are not golfers. And a lot of the younger set have the mindset even if they play "well the old man had all this outdated junk crap and I do not want any of that junk  jeez how did he hit that crap?" I also go to estate sales and pick up stuff cheap. I have never tried to get over on folks and at an estate sale I will tell them if they have something priced too cheap but almost every time I have been told well just buy it for what it is priced and enjoy it.
