Good morning Spies,
What thoroughly icky, wet and rainy morning here in Central NY. I saved one apple cider donut from yesterday’s orchard outing. It went well with my morning coffee. Also tried a new apple variety Ludacrisp. I had to try it because of the name. “Rollout”. IFYKYK.
Wishing all a wonderful day!

Then he got us on board the USS Essex which was the ship of honor for Seafair. We got cruise around the Sound for the day and had the opportunity to explore the ship as well. I was lucky enough to watch from the bridge at one point. Oddly enough my son was never assigned sea duty. He was either “Green Side”, with the Marines or assigned to a hospital.

Good morning....or more appropriately good evening.
Yesterday was a fun day at my companies family day. Only my daughter and mother-in-law were able to make it up the stairs to get onboard; wife and sister-in-law waited for us to finish. Pic is from the hanger bay of the Kennedy and overlooking the Enterprise
Today was 80 and sunny so it was off for my normal Sunday round. Fall colors are starting.

Good morning Spies,
A wet rainy morning in Central NY. The weather has made for a leisurely morning. Enjoyed my two cuppas. SWMBO and I will go out to lunch and hit the apple orchard. I see an apple cider donut in my future. Will hit Costco for a rotisserie chicken. I will use it to conjure chicken white chili for dinner.
I ran into Dick’s yesterday to pick up some inexpensive brightly colored golf balls. Need the added visibility they offer with all the leaves down. They had Maxfli StraightFlis on sale 2 for $35. Right in my price range.
On a whim I tried a Scotty Cameron Phantom X7 and X7.5. I game a 34” putter in both of my Evnrolls but the Scotty 34” felt “short” to me. I found the 35” length more natural. This begs the question, are club lengths, like flex values fungible?
Wishing all a wonderful day!

Good morning Spies,
One cuppa in progress. It’s a rainy morning in Central NY. SWMBO bought a new mountain bike yesterday and is itching for a ride. Hoping for a break in the rain later today. My new Vokey SM9 arrived yesterday afternoon. My wedges are set for a bit now. Was very pleased with the 54/12 that I bought earlier so I ordered a 58/12 to go with it. Both are in Brushed Steel.
The signs of the golf season coming to an end are starting to appear. One of the local courses I play occasionally emailed that this is the last weekend they will be open. My home course is prepping for the end of the season as well. They’ve put away the tee markers, ball washers and the rakes. On a positive note they hired a new course superintendent. He is young fellow who previously worked at Shinnecock Hills. I’ve met him and he is eager to put this Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed course back into shape. Looking forward to next season. They have removed a number of dead trees around the tee boxes and greens already.

Happy Friday Spies,
2 cups in me. Old pupper walked. Received an alert from FedEx that my SM9 58 is out for delivery. Played 9 yesterday morning. I finished with a par on hole that normally Gives me fits. While I love Fall golf, all the down leaves hit my wallet hard in the golf ball department. Going to Dick’s to pick up some cheaper bright green balls.
Wishing all a wonderful day!

Number on my home course is typically a pain in my backside. It seems everything ends up on the right side. Well in a rarity for me, I hit my drive into the fairway down the left side. It left me with 162 yards to the center of the green. My second shot was with my Ping G410 Crossover to the middle of green. Left me with about a 12-foot putt for birdie. "He did not make the putt." I was left with a tap in par. I will take that any day. The course has leaves down everywhere and balls that are easily found in the Summer are not so easy to find in the Fall. Time to switch to inexpensive brightly colored balls for what is left of our golf season in the Northeast.

Agreed. They’re following the ESPN model of featuring one loudmouth click-bait performer and the ancillary coverage is just filler.
Chamblee is controversial and controversy in today’s world means engagement.
In general, I have found sports announcers to be tiresome more than anything. Too much blather. I watch less sports than I used to and when I do watch now, I watch events now with the sound off. Golf with all the commercials has gotten worse. The No Laying Up folks are really vocal about the state of TV golf coverage these days. I see their point.

Good morning Spies,
Greetings on this “Almost Friday”. It’s overcast and damp in Central NY this morning. One cup down second will be on the course. I’m giving joggers a try in the course apparel department this morning. It may anger the “get off of my lawn” crowd but it’s a risk I’m willing to take.
Wishing all a wonderful day.

Happy Hump Day Spies,
One cup down then took the old pupper for a walk. He chose a short one today after a 3 mile walk yesterday. Cuppa 2 going down now. My morning 9 yesterday started out well, a par on the first hole. The wheels fell off the bus shortly after. But it was enjoyable all the same. A morning run is on the agenda for today and then mow the lawn this afternoon.
Now for a bit of humor for your morning.
Wishing all a wonderful day!

Good morning fellow Spy’s.
Bit of a tough start to the week for me as I was laid off from work after 6.5 years there. Looking at it as a birth certificate to be able to start fresh elsewhere but also taking some time to be with the family before jumping right into the next place.
Grateful for the time I was there but even more so for allowing me to spend some quality time with the little guy.
So sorry to read this. Good luck going forward. I applaud your attitude. I’ve had my job eliminated twice in the last 5 years. I’m blessed that things have worked out. Wishing you the same.

Good morning Spies,
One cup down and second cuppa will be on the golf course this morning. It’s in the 40s today but the sun is out. Woke up this morning to an email that my SM9 lob wedge has shipped. My home course emailed about the end of season being in sight. Tis that time of year I suppose.
Wishing all a wonderful day!

$27.99 is the in store price. $34.99 is the normal online “free shipping/shipping included” price. This is their normal pricing structure for the white and yellow balls.
Week before last, they adjusted their online price down to $27.99 for both sets of balls, essentially offering their shipped price at the in-store price.
I am on the website now and both sets of balls are at $34.99. Maybe they had a sale a few weeks ago.

Was online today to order a box of the neon yellow as my local Costco only had the white in stock. The online price is now up to $34.99. The last time I was in the store they were selling for $27.99. I’m not complaining because they are still a great value. Just an observation.

Good morning everyone. Getting ready to check in for my VGA tournament event today in St Joseph, MO. Crispy 53° but should be in the 60s by tee time. Nothing beats a fall day on the golf course. Hope everyone enjoys their day ahead be it watching football or hitting the links!!
Good luck at the tournament. I’m a VGA member as well but their tournaments are all too often too far from where I live.

Good morning Spies,
Happy Sunday. My morning cuppa ️ is going down nicely. It’s a cold rainy day in Central NY. I ventured into a new sport yesterday. Biathlon. Yesterday’s session was a brief introduction that concentrated mainly on shooting. Shooting is something I have not done since my Army days. The rust seemed to come off quickly. My first series was 5 shots, 5 targets down. Nowhere to go but down. It was a fun day and now it’s something that bears further investigation. Oh and if you think golf is an expensive hobby, check this one out.
Wishing all a wonderful day!

Happy Friday Spies,
I'm late with my good morning post but since I have family in California, I will borrow their time zone. Enjoyed my morning coffee then walked our old pupper. I got 9 holes in yesterday and parred a hole on my home course that I haven't parred before. Its the little things really. And in a fit of insanity, I signed up for a 5k turkey trot on Thanksgiving. Part 2 of crazy retirees do, I am doing a "Try It" Biathlon tomorrow put on by the Syracuse Biathlon Club. They provide training and the rifles. This will be a run rather than skiing. Will see how that goes.

Happy hump day Spies,
One cup down and one to go. Then walking our old pupper. Not a lot on the agenda today. I will get a run in though. Just purchased our tickets for our son’s destination wedding in Joshua Tree. I also started navigating the rules of being a wedding officiant in San Bernardino County, California. I need permission to do so and it’s only for one day. They said they would call me back.
Wishing all a wonderful day!
