Just a quick update because we have had a lot of talk about tempo. For me personally I tried out a few different methods today quick back swing, slow, inbetween, controlled and more wild really trying to get a rebound and I found that again for me a slower more controlled back swing and applying more force through the ground then swinging free gave me the fastest swings and the fastest swings to date so far. I also have my fastest starting swing with 107 so I am definitely seeing a increase. Looking forward to the rest of the week and hopefully able to crack 120 with a driver for one swing!
I've had this same experience as well. Slower, more controlled backswing always seems to give me higher numbers.
Glad that you're seeing increases. Huge motivation!

- 33 Putts (1 3-putt, 13 2-putts, 4 1-putts)Another good round for me this morning. Had legitimate birdie opportunities on several holes but could only convert on No. 1. Really awful three-putt after being hole-high and 15 feet away on the par-3 sixth hole. I was a little amped up after the good tee shot and gave it too much gas.
Driver continues to let me down. Lost the ball right into the trees on No. 3 and got lucky with two really nice punch outs that let me two-putt par. Had to punch out under a pine tree on No. 14 and saved par. Went left but hole high on No. 15, but hit a poor chip across the green and saved par. On No. 17 lost the ball right onto No. 18 fairway again and took bogey. Still lots to work on.
Pulled my 8-iron approach from just off the fairway on No. 18 but had a good look at a chip-and-down. Left my chip about six feet short and my first putt didn't even come close. Settled for bogey and my second 78 in the past week. No complaints!

Arccos is an eye-opener. I've been way too critical of my putting, apparently.

Just went to my scheduled fitting today and guess what... the Xtreme was borrowed so I couldn't test it...
But I did hit the SZ 9* with Aldila Rogue Silver 60S (gave me the best numbers) vs Titleist, Mizuno, Bridgestone. I purposely told the fitter to skip the Mavrik and SIM, cause I wasn't ready to pay the EUR 500-600 price tag.
I was having a bad day with my Epic, spreading all over with about 240 carry and 250 total... with the SZ I was about 250 carry and touching 270 total but with a great shot dispersion.
So I thought, maybe it's just a bad day, but that doesn't explain why the Epic sucked compared to the SZ. So I'll give it another shot next week while comparing the SZ with the Xtreme, but I'll most probably buy one of those.
This gives me a lot of hope that the SZX will be a magical driver for me.

Playing lots of golf while on vacation, which is my idea of a perfect vacation. I was thinking about it during my last couple rounds, I can't recall ever having this much fun on the golf course. Taking lessons this past fall and the result of having some sort of control over the golf ball is such a wonderful feeling.
Thursday 18
- 40/41 = 81 (+9)
- 6/15 FIR
- 10/18 GIR
- 35 Putts (1 3-putt, 15 2-putts, 2 1-putts)A really solid round for me again. Feeling much better with the putter than I was a few weeks ago. Had a few first putts come up just short, but the lines are so much better now.
I made a few more strategy changes to how I play a few holes and that's helped me get off to better starts on the back nine, and in the process, lower scores overall.
This was a 70s round in the making until I pulled my tee shot OB left on 14.
Friday 9
- 39 (+3)
- 5/8 FIR
- 2/9 GIR (1 birdie)
- 14 Putts (5 2-putts, 4 1-putts)Played the back nine this morning since I played the front nine only on Wednesday. I've committed to a new to me chipping technique for the past few rounds and today it was working really well, so despite not hitting a ton of greens I still scored well!
Driving cooperated reasonably well with me today, but two of my five attempts still were not great. Pulled left on No. 16 and then sent the ball onto No. 18 fairway on No. 17. Luckily I was able to recover well both times.
Hit a really nice push draw drive on No. 18, stuck my 54 degree wedge to about 10 feet and sank the birdie putt to finish sub-40. Nice putting round for me again.

Was ok moving right or left but not the knockdown. I like to blame the clubs but I am sure it is my LOFT ( Lack Of F... Talent)
This is the only issue I have had with Arccos. After 150+ rounds I have it down to a science but it does require interaction. You’re method is the exact one I use.
Yup, it's actually slowed my rounds down some which is probably a good thing. It took me almost 3 hours to walk 18 today which is slow by my place, but I was enjoying my time and making sure Arccos was happy after every hole.
I putt out, pull phone out of pocket to mark pin, and then pace back to first putt location and set that correctly as well. Only takes a few extra moments.

Couple more baseline rounds with Arccos under my belt and finding a nice groove with it, setting pins, etc. I don't think there is a perfect way to have pin location set in any of the trackers, but Arccos is relatively easy and quick. I just need to make sure I pace off my first putt distance so I get reliable stats.
Orders went in earlier this week! Now the long waiting game begins. Can't wait for that FedEx Delivery Manager email when they ship!

- 18 Putts (9 2-putts - at least I'm consistent!)Took today, tomorrow and Friday off of work to spend some time with the wife and work on house projects. She suggested going to play a round in a cart this afternoon, so I played while she enjoyed a Bloody Mary and rode along. She's 13 months removed from a less-than-stellar shoulder surgery and is finally on the mend, so hopefully this is the last time she is only able to ride along because she would definitely prefer to be playing.
Seven bogeys and two pars. Scrambled well but couldn't chip or get a putt to drop.
Rough day off the tee - left, left, right, long, left, right, left. Punched out from 2-3 foot tall grass on No. 1, got really cozy with a pine tree on No. 5 (managed to crouch and choke up on the steel of my wedge to punch it out) and just generally struggled with the tee game today. Ironically I hit and parred both par threes, which is the first time I've done that this year (and perhaps, ever).
Still, I could have shot at least a few strokes better if I could chip. Had great opportunities for chip-and-downs on Nos. 1 (just behind green), 2 (just behind green), 3 (just short of green) and 4 (just behind green) and did not hit a single chip within one-putt range.
We had planned on 18 holes but the course was busy, so after nine holes I elected to pack it in and participate in the Bloody Mary drinking. Nice way to spend an afternoon!

Yikes, that's tough.
@GB13, do you know the history of the course? Have the greens always been this small?
We have a few locally with really small greens like this, but it's been the product of less and less mowing each year. So they started out larger and have gradually shrunk as the greens keepers' upkeep dwindled.

After procrastinating for a few weeks I just ordered a Planemate. Hopefully working on my swing will be of more benefit than buying different clubs repeatedly to sort out my long iron/hybrid issues.
Funny, pulled the trigger on a PlaneMate late Sunday night as well.
In the immediate future I hope it can help my abysmal short game, maybe over the winter it can get my back swing higher and longer to generate more speed.

Now that you all have been able to get a few rounds under your belt with Arccos, are there any stats that surprise you? I think we all have preconceived notions about our games and actually having the data can sometimes turn those upside down.
So far, it's confirmed what I've seen in general score trend and from ShotScope/GAME Golf data from the past two years - as my driver goes, my score goes. It's the weakest part of my game by far because it's unpredictable. Smart distance has me at 262 through three rounds, but I miss a lot of fairways, and my worst shots can be sub-220 yards.
I play a relatively short course (6,100-6,200 yards from the back depending on tee box locations) and can overpower it if I am having a great day driving the ball. The problem is that there are not a lot of holes you can miss on. Most of the fairways are ~30 yards at their widest points, with trees hugging the fairways on almost every hole. I assume a 50-yard dispersion (25 to each side) with the driver after some conversations with @edteergolf. It's why I've recently started hitting irons (assuming a 30-yard dispersion, 15 to each side) more often from the tee as I am reasonably long with my 5/6/7 irons, and I can take advantage of a second shot into greens from 115-150 yards on a lot of holes. I find that to be a comfortable approach distance for me.
When I did the Epic Flash testing last spring at the same course, I hit driver on 15 of the 18 holes (every hole but the par 3s) because before SuperSpeed/weightlifting/lessons, a great drive might top out at 250, and for an average drive I would hit a pull slice about 220, and a great 7-iron might carry 155. This morning I hit driver on only eight holes trying to limit any damage I could cause myself.
I am a little surprised that it values my putting as high as it is so far. I assuming that's because I have been lagging the ball pretty well this year. I still three-putt more often than I like, but I have a lot of putts outside of 20 feet and I usually get down in two.

- 40/38 = 78 (+6)
- 9/15 FIR
- 9/18 GIR (2 birdies)
- 32 Putts (1 3-putt, 12 2-putts, 5 1-putts)Able to stick a new low round ball on my shelf!
While I birdied No. 1 for the first time this year this morning, I got off to a sluggish start and didn't hit anything particularly well through most of the front nine. However, I avoided really bad holes (did double No. 3 after just spraying a tee shot so far right it almost landed on No. 8 green), and easily had my best round putting this year.
During my lesson last Wednesday we opened up my feet in my driver and iron stances some because what feels square to me is actually closed. I did the same thing putting today and everything finally started on the correct line. I did have an awful three-putt on No. 17, but otherwise felt really good with the putter today.
I hit 7/9 greens on the back and missed the other two by only a few yards short. I played most of the back nine in a light sprinkle that turned into a drizzle by No. 15, so with the rain and breeze I just clubbed up once or twice and hit low punchy iron shots.
Best feeling of the round, however, was that I smoked two straight drives dead center of the fairway on 17 and 18 to end the round. According to Arccos, the first went 261 yards into the breeze and then turned around and went 287 downwind. Feels so good to be hitting the driver better.

@goaliewales14 - That scorecard picture pushed me over the edge. Just ordered my very own PlaneMate!
Based on this thread, it sounds like the short game benefit might be worth the price, but I'm curious to see how it helps my takeaway, among other things.
