Good morning and a happy Thursday to all of you. Still cold outside today with a 34° start on our way to 48° but that Iowa wind will still rip right through you. Daughter has a soccer game this afternoon and that is going to be a tough one with the wind and temps.
@Dead Solid Bogey, stay strong, stay positive, and be sure to stay active on here. It’s a great network to help you through tough times. I hope that everything goes well for you.
@Fongle Sorry to hear that news about your uncle.
@sirchunksalot feel better soon!
Have a wonderful day everyone!!

not exactly a deal, per se, but if you're a Masters fan these are pretty cool. even better, if you have an air gun you can blow them on and off to use only in April.

I’ve been holding out on ordering new grips to see what these looked like this year. Those look nice but I was hoping for the MCC version without the +4.

Good morning spies! Crazy Iowa weather again today. Currently getting some light snow which is sticking to the grass but will probably all melt by lunch. Back to spring like weather on Friday.
Daughter’s soccer match for last night was postponed due to weather. Oh my, was she bummed last night. Didn’t realize how pumped up she was for the season to start. Hopefully tomorrow’s weather is more cooperative and we can get the season going.
Hope everyone has a good day today! ️

My current hobbies make up a short list. Golf and video games. I’ve started to dabble with woodworking but have not dove in headfirst just yet. Truth is that golf is an infatuation so everything else really gets put on hold most of the time.
Prior to taking up golf I was heavily vested into cycling. It truly took over every waking moment of my life for several years. Started out racing mountain bikes and that transitioned into endurance mountain bike racing, 12 & 24 hour solo to be specific. That came to an end when my daughter was born and I switched to racing road bikes and cyclocross for a few years before calling it quits.

Good morning everyone! Wet and chilly all day here with a high of 44°, 38° now, rain on and off all day, and of course the Iowa wind. The real reason for this weather is that Women’s High School soccer starts tonight and this is the mandatory weather for spring sports. 2-3 games per week for the next couple of months will fill my schedule after work but it is totally worth watching my daughter play.
No other plans on the day other than working, have a great day spies!!

My Sunday was an improvement over my Saturday round, which was nice. Arrived at the course about 10 minutes before sunrise and hit the putting green to get a feel for speed and my tempo. Definitely glad that I did that, I think it made the difference. Off the tee wasn’t terrible, wasn’t great either, and I was able to hit 7 fairways. Could not hit a green to save my life, including the par 3s. I was able to keep my putts at 31 with no three putts and 5 one putts. Final score was a 43/45 for an 88 with four pars and two doubles. Trending in the right direction, looking to find those low 80s this year.

Good morning spies! Early start for me as I get back to the Monday grind. Into work at 5:00 this morning but that gets me off by 1:30 so I’m hoping to get to the range for a bit of outdoor chipping and putting practice.
Have a great day spies.

Good morning spies and a Happy Easter Sunday to you! 40° and a threat of rain this morning so I decided to tee off at the course that looks like the rain might miss.

Sunrise rounds are probably my favorite rounds. I like to be one of the first ones off and if I am the very first, it's all the better. I find the walk to be quite peaceful and relaxing. However, I do have to admit that being the last one on course is pretty nice as well. Twilight rounds are pretty cool when the light is just getting to the point where an approach shot is difficult on the 18th and then I can walk into an empty parking lot. I'd probably say that sunrose rounds are great when I play solo and last group on the course is cool when I am playing with others.

I’ll echo what most others have stated, Scheffler is probably an easy pick as a solid candidate for the win. If I picked who I really want to see win though, definitely Tommy Fleetwood who is one of my favorites to watch.

Finally!!! Hole of the day for me was the par 4 13th playing around 390 yards today. Tee shot is over a small pond and blind to the landing zone where the fairway slopes from left to right. Tee shot was 248 yards into a 10 mph wind with just a touch of a cut and ended up making the fairway with a pretty decent lie.
That left me around 135 yards to the center of the green which was perfect for my 9 iron into the wind. Ball mark was at 133 yards and then the ball rolled 20 feet to the back left.
First putt was 25 feet with a touch of downhill and the ball was online and rolling well stopping less than six inches to the left of the hole for a tap in par. Seems pretty textbook but, this hole has been my nemesis on this course for years. It was the only hole remaining that I had never had a par or better until today which gives me that “I accomplished something today” feeling.

This morning’s round was quite the challenge. Really struggled with ball striking for my approach shots today. Really inconsistent since I was seeing misses to the left, right, and even short on occasion. Shot 46/46 for a 92 which. Isn’t bad for the second round of the year. Only 3 greens and had 35 putts with two 3-putts which didn’t help. Only managed 3 pars on the day as well.

Good morning again spies! Woke up at around 6:15 this morning and determined that 38° was plenty warm to walk 18 this morning. Not a great scoring round, only the second of the year, but a great morning for a quiet walk.
Hope that all of you have an enjoyable day!

Good morning spies and a happy Friday to you. I know a lot of people have today off, I’m a touch jealous. Weather here is high 50s and sunshine today so the golf courses will be busy but, unfortunately I will be grinding away at work. Since July 4th is on a Thursday this year, my employer cancelled our holiday today and moved it to July 5th for a four day weekend at that time. Hopefully today doesn’t drag too much.
Have a great day spies!

This one always seems to throw me when it comes to picks. Do they want to put in a lot of effort to try to win this the week before The Masters? Just going through the motions to make sure that everything is running smoothly with their game? Make the cut and play through Sunday or take off after Friday to get a little rest before practice rounds at Augusta? Truthfully, I’m already just getting amped up for The Masters so maybe I’m thinking too far into the future.
I’m thinking maybe Rory or Åberg.
