GolfSpy Barbajo
Which memory stays with you longer - a HUGE drive or stiffing your approach shot? What do you linger over during drinks after the round? For me it's knockin' it stiff... This was on #10 at Bear's Best in Vegas last fall - 160 yards for a tap in birdie. It made me happy. Blade
Have to agree there. Long drive is great for sure, but a pure iron shot in tight for a tap-in, even better.

hckymeyer
Hands down knocking it stiff. Driving 240 vs 280 will be forgotten by the next hole. Hitting to a foot I will remember. apprenti23
Agree with the gallery on this one. Hole is basically over when you put it a foot away. I've hit many bombed drives that led to bogeys or worse!
whiskey golf
Assuming the ending score was the same, I'd rather knock it close rather than bomb drives.
revkev
My final score. Whatever was the biggest contributing factor to it be that a positive or a negative. Honestly what will most likely stick with me would be a great rescue shot, chip, pitch, bunker or holed putt. Something that saved my round, stole a hole or won a skin out of nowhere. In fact it might be Kevin's rule that I remember. Kevin's rule is "You are able to negate a bad shot with a great shot or a series of good ones." The great shot must be commensurate with the damage of the poor one which can be tough if the poor one includes a penalty. But I will hang onto that series of good ones that turned turned bogey into par or led to a couple of birdies that offset the stinker. I expect to hit a certain number of good approach shots and it's been a decade plus since I boomed a drive. The good approaches are quickly forgotten only to be remembered if I need to visualize the same shot at a later date. ZenGolfer
For me, its knocking it stiff. Other than sinking a long, snaking putt; theres nothing that feels better in golf than hitting it the exact distance and the exact direction that you intend to. hckymeyer
Another reason I picked knocking it stiff. My "bomb" is most likely very different from say Undershooter's bomb, or Rev's bomb. Undershooter
I did get lucky with a bit of both on one hole today. Hit one about 340 to about 15 yards short of the green on the par 4 2nd at the course I was playing. Dunked the 2nd shot for eagle 2 on one hop to win triple money. It was a great feeling all the way around. Kenny B
Well, I say "It depends." This weekend I hit two approach shots stiff. One was nice little 8-iron and the other was a 7-iron; both to a couple of feet. However, the 8-iron was a nice high cut shot that landed soft; just like I pictured it in my mind. The 7-iron was a thinned shot that never got off the ground, bounced and rolled up to the pin. I didn't pictured that one, and although the result was good, I would have taken a nice long drive over that shot any day! <_> “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
