Who ya got? Who touches you down deep when you hear them play? I have a few. I have thought long and hard about who I think is my all time favorite guitar player.... the one that can bring me to tears. There are a few, but I have one that I have decided is THE MAN. Let's hear them. I'll give you mine after a few replies.

Radio is definitely out in our household.  My wife listens to Sirius in her car and mostly oldies, she loves the Stones, Rod Stewart, Beatles, Eagles, etc.  Me I download my favorites from the past out of my library which has close to 20,000 selections, on to a USB and listen to them on shuffle.  Songs range from Glenn Miller, Guns and Roses, Elvis, Elle, Mozart, Bill Monroe, Allan Jackson, Lauren Hill and Clifton Chenier. Everything on the USB is handpicked, and as you can see, very diverse, and have close to 5,000 songs on it.  Makes a long road trip more pleasurable except when my wife is with me, excuse me dear, she does not like country nor blue grass, which is my grass roots music.  Music makes me smile and is my happy place.  I also download songs I do not have, believe it or not, from our local library system every Monday, ten songs a week, onto the travel USB.  Fun hobby.  Also have one just for the holiday season of selection Christmas selections.  Start about two weeks before Christmas not after Halloween, like the radio stations.

All of the players that have been mentioned so far are great players. That's the problem...lol. There are so many really good players from back in the day and I would say there are even more very good players today. I like all of the players mentioned.

Interesting. Saw a ton of good responses on this topic so far. As usual, I'm going to be completely random on this one and say that one I personally enjoy is definitely Miyavi.

Another guy that slipped my mind... and I don't know how I forgot him is Danny Gatton. Glenn Campbell is another great from back when. Jerry Reed, Carlos Santanna, Warren Haynes, Johnny Winter.......... so many...lol.

About a 70 mile drive to the concert venue in Indiana and sat with him and his wife in the Green Room and seemed like a nice enough guy. There are several baffles, long curtains hanging next to the sound booth and I always stood a few deep before going on stage. Getting ready to go out to welcome the crowd and introduce him and I hear him say to the sound engineer a curtain over "I don't need a DJ intro so here is my intro tape, blow off that local yocal and just play the tape". I stepped around the curtain and said "You could have just let me know in the Green Room and I would have gladly welcomed the crowd and let you do your own intro. Now, don't expect your f****n' songs to be played any afternoon on the #1 Country station in the US." 

... I went out and did my normal hype the crowd welcome but ended it in a monotone "Glen Campbell Ya'll" and left the stage.

I am a prog rock guy and like listening to Steve Hackett and Steve Howe.  If I had to pick just one i think the firth of firth solo is my favorite.

I check out a you tube channel by rick beato frequently and  he does a good job introducing people like me to some great guitarists.  Mike Dawes is one that i had never heard of before seeing him there.

Mike dawes is a killer guitarist. I'll think of more players as time goes on. It's impossible to remember them all.... ther are just too many...lol.

I watch Rick Beato quite a bit. He introduced me to Muddy Magnlolias.
