Big money
My workouts have gone from 35 mins up to over an hour now.Focusing more on very light weights and form holding.Next week I meet a trainer that specializes in resistance bands and stomach work outs.Stuck at high 190's.Hoping this mixing it up will get me to my goal of 185ish.I haven't been that weight in over two decades.Tons of work ahead and commitments and sacrifices.Being heathy isn't easy MattF, ole gray, DawgDaddy and 4 others 7 Quote Keep it in the short stuff

revkev
It's interesting to read the different strategies being considered and employed. My trainer is not a big advocate of long workouts. She likes 5 half hour sessions a week, two strength, 3 hard cardio. In fact her strength ones mix cardio in. Of course she's also trying to devise a plan that I am able to follow on my own later and that fits my schedule. 190.3 today. I'm on that doorstep. Can't wait to get the 8 after the 1. tony@CIC
So I was under the impression that aerobic activity is 55-80% of max heart rate and weight loss is at 55-70%+. I generally only measure when I'm on the elliptical but I strive to be in the 118-122 range on the Eliptical which for me is in the 80% range. The Mayo clinic has a great article on measuring exercise intensity subjectively. On moderate exercise they list things like: breathing quickens but not out of breath, carry on a conversation but can't sing, etc. interestingly at 118 which is 79% for me but I don't fit into the moderate exercise today but probably did in January. I am losing weight without approaching the 80% mark but I think it's a function of metabolism increasing and eating better. So now that I'm back on track - weight and exercise goals are being met, more importantly I feel really good. revkev
That's awesome Tony - remember you're younger than some of us - age impacts target heart rate. I have the formula somewhere - I just know that for me 110 is the sweet spot. I dipped below 190 for the first time this morning. I'm very happy! 20 lbs in under 3 months is nothing to sneeze out.
