Weight Loss Thread

Weighing yourself once a week will likely be more positive for psyche. Down a pound one morning, up half a pound the next versus weighing yourself every Saturday and being down two to three pounds over the whole time. I know it helped encourage me

I'm with you. When I'm in a fitness mode, I have to weigh every day. If's the only way I stay focused, and it helps me decide what's working and what isn't. It also irritates my wife, who believes in the once per week weighing, which is an added bonus.

You probably don't vary much thru the day and are more stable. I vary 2 lbs

You probably don't vary much thru the day and are more stable. I vary 2 lbs

Depending on how late I eat my last meal and what it was there have been some days where I'll be up 3 pounds. It's kinda fun to learn how my body has responded to certain types of food and stuff during this whole challenge

It didn't drive me crazy or anything, just fluctuated day to day that I found doing it once a week gave a more encouraging results to keep on trucking

I use the UA record app, since I recently won one of their scales so I hope on every morning. I chart my M-W-F in excel and have a graph to notice the general trending. If I forget it drives me crazy vs weighing in too much.

From singularly my own perspective, I have what I label my skinny clothes and my fat clothes.   I am happy to report that I am beginning to be able to get into some of my skinny clothes, but I have a ways to go for full wardrobe use.   However, I am proud to say that I have never had to use the "big and tall" stores-"big" the operative word in my case-but I have been close.

I'm pretty happy with results this week. Lost 1.6 lbs and the pants are pretty loose - will need to go down an inch at the waist. Even more importantly, I'm starting to see the affects of the total gym/exercise routine - hopefully it transfers to the course.

Weighed myself a day early, still 212. But shorts/shirts are getting a bit loser along with the belt. Definitely feeling better.

How are you measuring that? The weight fluctuation of the daily weigh ins remains maddening. However I'm always lighter week to week so that's good.

 

I'm wondering if it's not the transition from fat to muscle that causes the fluctuations. I will ask my trainer tomorrow.

Both my scale and the one i use at my gym measure body fat and skeletal muscle mass. I only weigh in on the gym scale once a week and on mine everyday as a way to track how my week is going.

Muscle and fat weigh the same but muscle takes up less room.

Muscle holds more water than fat. Fat does not hold water and is not as lean as muscle. The way the scales measure is low low electricity and the easier it moves the higher protein and muscle the slower the fatter.

Yup that's how people do EKGs. Your body produces electrical currents and every muscle retraction of the heart and body in general creates some kind of electrical activity.
