revkev
I just found this thread, and I wanted to say thanks to you guys for starting it. Without getting into too much detail, I have gone from a strong, athletic college football player, to a 34 year old fatass. A combination of a knee injury, poor nutrition, poor exercise habits and the lack of spare time we all have, have greatly contributed to this problem. 3 weeks ago I weighed myself at the most I have ever weighed in my life, 263 lbs. I played football in university for 3 years before hurting my knee, and the most I ever weighed was going into my 3rd season when I was 247 at the beginning of training camp. I have always been a rollercoaster exerciser, hot for a few weeks then it's easy to make excuses and fall off. Tweaked my knee again last spring (after it being in good shape for 12 years) and that lead me to do less than nothing. I got surgery again in December, and I am now fed up and am looking to get back into shape. Considering I used to be an athlete, I have not felt very athletic lately and am sweating/out of breath doing routine things. Not the life I planned on living. I sold my motorcycle a few weeks ago (sad story for another time) and although I originally wanted to put the money into new golf clubs (obviously) I decided to invest in myself and my health. I joined a new gym and started working out with a personal trainer (a first for me) two weeks ago. So far it has been great, and I am even finding myself working out in between sessions. I would love to keep this thread updated, and use you guys to help me stay motivated so I can keep dropping weight and gaining strength even during golf season, and I can stay healthy to live a long life with my babygirl. Thanks guys! You can do this! Join the fun and remember you don't have to kill it like you're going to play a college sport. You just need to make small changes, eat healthier, eat less, move more. I pulled out a 1/2 doz shorts from the “skinnier draw†and not only do they fit but a few pair also are getting too big. Ive not lost lbs in the last 2 weeks but definitely lost some “widthâ€.Bonus, I do feel that I've gained a few yards off the tee from working out. Swing feels smoother. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy As big a pain as weighing myself daily is I see patterns and trends. So long as I eat properly I will stay the same weight for three or four days, drop significantly, spike up and then go back down to between one and two pounds below where I was at and repeat the process. Yesterday was the top point weight wise - my four days were at 196.5, I then dropped in 2 to 184.4 back up to 185.6, I'm at 185.5 today. My guess is I will have a couple of more days here before putting 185 behind me for good the beginning of next week. Having written that I just dropped another pound. I've got clothes coming out of draws that were banished for a year or more. Fortunately most of what I had still fits. It was getting too small prior to loosing this weight.
