Nike Counterflex Question

I have a Nike Origin counterflex at 38". If I wanted to cut it down and put a superstroke on it without the counterflex weight how much would this affect performance. I didn't want the counterbalance version but everything was sold out when I got around to purchasing. Any advice is appreciated

Very interesting question. Usually when you cut a shaft down it will lighten the swing weight. Some say that's not a big issue on a putter but that's up to the player. Considering this is counterbalanced makes it a little trickier

Good question, I have the counterflex mallet putter (really like it), but may be worth taking into a shop to see what they think. Definitely worth trying as is too. Very good putter and the counterflex system is outstanding and can really help dial in how you want the putter to feel.

I guess my question more specifically was is there anything internally that holds the counterflex weight in place? Or is it simply screwed in at the top of the grip as the only anchor point?

To my knowledge it is just the screw at the top. Although I'm not sure if it simply could cut and regripped.

Another idea (what I actually did with mine): just pull the shaft completely, with the grip and weight still intact. Putter shafts are cheap, and it's a lot easier to install a new shaft than it is to pull a long, thick putter grip.

I like the idea that, if I wanted to, I could easily reinstall the 38" shaft.

This^^^^^^ makes a lot of sense and is really cheap to do as well. Grip would be by far the most expensive part of the equation.

Here's my finished putter:

Another option: if you wanted to keep the CounterFlex setup, but just play a shorter putter, the parallel section of the shaft runs about 4 inches. You could pull the shaft, tip trim to length, and reassemble. It would, in theory, make the shaft play stiffer, but if you're the kind who notices that in putts, you're playing a different game than I am :-)
