SM6 home made raw finish

... I stripped my black SM7 58* and loved the end result. After playing it with my chrome 52* SM6 I decided to get a matching black 52* SM6 and strip it too. I am heading to perpetually sunny Phoenix and not only do I prefer the raw look, it is much better in the bright sunshine. (Just writing down "bright sunshine" with cloudy skies and snow on the ground makes me bust into a smile). For those interested in the process, I do not use any chemicals in my life unless absolutely unavoidable, so I just submerged it in white vinegar over night and then went over it with a nylon pad. I found it interesting that some paint fill came out and some didn't.

That's weird about the paint fill. I'd have never though vinegar would strip the finish let alone the paint.

Where does one get this magic nylon pad?

... Mine is just an old worn out pot scrubber that did not scratch stainless steel. I imagine anything like that will do if you leave it in the white vinegar over nite.

Do you have to remove the shaft or can you submerge the head installed on the shaft? Not sure if the vinegar will also weaken the epoxy?

Vinegar should not cause any issue to the epoxy.
