3M Open

And the PGA Tour (wheel) turns. Another week, another no patrons event... when the world dishes out lemons, you make lemonade. A bit of a lackluster field IMO... what's up with that?  Did The Memorial hurt some feelings? 🙂 I've got Rafa, Harman, and Piercy in the FTx... that should get my trajectory moving back toward Tin Cup winner.

Agree.  You know, there is such a very fine line between those with multiple wins and those with 1 or 2.  It makes me wonder what the stats would look like if events were 54 holes.

I like Tony as well.  Depends if he is very upset with his weekend performance last week and gets focused, or if he's deflated and falls off the earth.

Like last year, the winner could be a relatively new face.  Will Gordon impressed me last week.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Finau will have a new face on the bag this week for the first time in his professional career as he's split from his long-time caddie, Greg Bodine. His coach, Boyd Summerhays, will be on the bag this week.

Just watched his not so highlights on #18... yikes.  I know these guys are confident with yardages but were that me, it's heading to the back of the green after splash #2.

The 9th hole was giving people fits today and deservedly so. It was playing as a 512 yard par 4  with water all down the right side. The green has a portion that extends of water and that’s of course where the pin was today. The scoring average was 4.53 and had 17 double bogies or worst. Only 8 birdies out of 155 people!

Other than hole 9, lots of birdies. Do y’all like to see a birdie fest or something like the Memorial where it is a grind the whole time?

Piercy is on my MGS FTx league roster... the guy often seems to be in another timezone. I could be wrong, but he seems content with middle of the pack finishes.

I prefer the grind.  It makes them appear more like us mere mortals. Seeing 5+ under/round scoring gets boring to me. Honestly, I'm not sure I'd enjoy the game if it was that easy... though I'd like a taste of it a few times 😆.

OMG. Finau's new caddie, Boyd Summerhays, calves look like lobster legs.  TGC just showed a comparison of yesterday and today... ouch!  It wouldn't surprise me that he can't complete the event.

Great to see Finau bounce back after a tough weekend last week. Hope he can continue the form this weekend.

And I hope Boyd decides on pants tomorrow and a lot of aloe. That burn looked painful.

I think there’s a place for both. I wouldn’t want a bloodbath every week but like to see three or four a season including one of the majors.

While not at the same time I was fit for every club in my bag as well as the Pro VI ball. I use the chrome soft x ls on my league course.  It has much softer softer greens than the club that I belong to.

I’m on a mission to shoot my age - lifetime lowest round is 66 and I’m currently 67.

In response to the weak field comments, consider what events are coming up next on the schedule:

Next week = WGC

2 weeks = PGA Championship

4 weeks = start of the FedEx Cup

I am actually surprised that certain big names are even at the 3M this week given turn around needed to make these bigger events.

Yes, good point. But, the Friday afternoon departures a good many of them have been having of late might suggest more live play is needed.

What about the seven wood, yes a seven wood in Michael Thompson's bag? He hit absolute beauty with it on hole #12 today (I think it was that hole, where it got Faldo's attention). High arrow straight and held the green.

Wish my seven wood shots would do that... 😃

Finauks nerves seem to be grabbing him after the hot start when he realized he was in the lead.. Mike Thompson just drilled a nice putt to retake the lead. Finau keeps leaving himself 30’ putts for birdie - tuff road to travel for a win

Just caught the highlights this AM.  Seems like a good guy.  Happy he won although I thought Finau might pull the W this week.
