I appreciate the extra help those give and felt vokeys there may be a bit too punishing from what I want. An excellent point. My AP3 GW is one of my best clubs in the bag which is why I’ve been so torn what to do. Not sure I could go with an SM9 for my PW as I’m so used to the AP3 43 deg PW and I couldn’t use an SM9 for that. Even the T200 was great. @Shapotomous I’ve heard that the T series design team worked with the Vokey guys on the soles of T series range of irons specifically to get the best turf interaction possible. KB13
Its interesting to see the various takes on the new release from everyone! I watched the TXG (now club champion Canada) video on the new irons and it was really good information IMO - I would suggest checking the video out. I have never played Titleist irons, and never had the want to even try them, so I am the furthest from a "buy the brand" (look at my WITB, I rock 4 brands, 5 including the ball) - But the T100 and 150's have intrigued me. I admit some of it is the influence on the video above^ but what got me was the miss hits you'll see on trackman don't lose a lot of spin therefore the mishits aren't as punishing. I also think that it isn't really fair to say that a new club doesn't have innovation or that your blades from 1995 are better - What defines better? Distance, forgiveness, accuracy, turf interaction, less punishing on mishits, MOI changes.. I think that's why MGS has a bunch of different categories they test. Also, if you have played the same clubs for that long, know exactly what their feel is, exactly how far you hit a perfect shot, a thin shot, a fat shot etc - then hit 20 balls with the T100 7 iron and say "these suck", Idk - if that's a qualifier. I am excited to at least hit the new clubs. I think they look great, but it'll come down to feel and performance for me. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
FYI, I just heard on the sweet spot podcast Adam young plays t300 and he is a very good ball striker. Sounds like they were successful. ... I don't pay much attention to turf interaction when looking at new clubs. When properly striking the ball, turf interaction happens after contact so it has no effect on performance. That said, the T100S I reviewed on MGS had the best turf interaction I have ever experienced. I think I described it as my P790's got through the turf just fine but felt like a butter knife compared to the T100S that felt like a scalpel. On a nice soft CC type fairway peeling out divots was almost effortless, so I get how some would love the feel. But Phoenix is more like what you see at the Open Championship with hard fairways that don't produce divots and there is no difference in turf interaction feel with any iron I have played here. Those soft, carpet like fairways where you can peel out a uniform divot, replace it and tamp it down and it looks like the rest of the fairway is one of the things I miss about Midwest golf. Nice set up! Really well thought out and every selection makes perfect sense. Looking forward to hearing how it all comes together for you. Normally I prefer a set wedge as most of the players irons set wedges have a similar CG and playability as the MB separate wedges. When I payed the Forged Tecs, the hollow head wedge was not as accurate for me so I added a 46* MG3. With my MIM's and King Tours I play the set wedge. But obviously it is just a personal preference as lofts over 45* negate any perimeter weighting for all but the most egregious misses a good 1 or 2" from the center. Of course some higher index players just don't like looking down at a MB wedge and playing set wedges through even the LW can be preferable. Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... Josh Parker
13 hours ago, GolfSpy_APH said: So this is what I ended up going with. Took a bit to think on it and find the right balance. My wife was laughing at me as kids were asleep and I was spending a good few hours on the Titleist website. I went through the selector tool and t150 was my go to, secondary was t200. That was the extra confirmation I needed. Setup -5-gap wedge. I went this route because I want a new 50ish degree club. I have about 100 different clubs between my 5 and 3 wood, none of which I use that often. So no point going to add another 4 iron which will get benched. 5 iron - T200 with Project X IO 6.0 Standard length, 1 flat and Lamkin Grips 6-9 irons - T150 with Project X IO 6.0 Standard length, 1 flat and Lamkin Grips PW GW - T100 with Project X IO 6.0 Standard length, 1 flat and Lamkin Grips, but 1 strong to better match and gap with what I currently have. This should give me the right balance across the board and provide me with a set I am much more confident with. Awesome set-up! I tried these out the other day and they all hit well!
