Fitness Goals: Helping Each Other Reach Our Goals

Recommended Posts

I feel like any amount of time off from legs - even missing one week - kills my progress. I'm back at 225 6x4 today and it actually felt good for a change. I had missed about a month of squat work after I finished FFG and am just getting back into it myself. Last week was supposed to be 225 4x6 and I barely finished set 3. Staying consistent can be hard sometimes, and when you're not it can be disproportionately penalizing.
Good luck this weekend - I'm taking some customers out tomorrow. I took my kids to the range yesterday and put on a smoke and laser show with the driver, so I'm pretty sure that means I'll be anywhere but the fairway.
Man, consistency is much easier for me during the school year. My local gym is so packed with 16 year olds in massive groups posing in the mirror after every set and filming for IG, that it's unbearable!

But yeah, seems it takes a month to get back what you lose in a week.

Sorry to hear about your range session going so well.... Lol. I think we can all relate to the kiss of death that is the laser show.

The kids and I went on a bike ride this morning.

Only 2.5 miles, but that’s pretty good for them! My 4 year old even decided to “take the road with the big hill because it’s good exercise!” That’s the spirit!

Suffered what I hope will be a minor injury today on my run. After mile 7, I developed pain on the outside of my left knee. Went away after 3/4s of a mile then had sudden pain at 11.5 which stuck around for the rest of my run. Probably should avoid hills for a little while.

I can breath again from getting ready for the football season. All I have been doing is PT, not that that isn't what I need. I was just hoping to be further along with getting back into the gym on a regular basis.

I have another month off as my work doesn't want me back until I'm 100%. I don't know where I'm at in percent, but hopefully can up that with regular workouts.

Yesterday: LiiFT4 day3, week 6 shoulders/core/treadmill

walk

changing my diet up starting next Tuesday.  I’m a teacher and the new year begins next Tuesday…I’m not sure what diet I’ll be starting.  All I know is I work pretty to stay in shape, now it’s time to work on what I eat.

Yesterday was a big day for me since surgery. PT in the morning which included sled push, single leg dead lift with 5lbs. Could have done more, but my hamstrings are feeling it today. body weight squat holding a 25lb weight, banded side steps, and banded monster walk.

I played Oculus golf, first time doing anything golf and then went and walked 9 holes (didn't play) with my wife and son. Went over 10,000 steps for the second time.

I feel pretty good so far with the normal stiffness/soreness after a workout. I am pretty pleased as I feel like I have turned another corner on recovery.

This morning I played some more VR golf and was planning on going to the gym, but my niece (5) and nephew (7) are coming for us to watch. Their normal sitter fell down some steps and is headed to the ER. Hope she's ok.

Have a great day

Been a super busy week! I started classes back up this semester, I'm only 5 classes away from completing my bachelors that I started 20 years ago, so it feels really good to be in the home stretch. I'm taking a sports injury prevention elective and a war and film study elective, so I'm basically watching 3-4 hours worth of war movies a week and reading about stretching right now. Pretty sweet gig for a piece of paper if you ask me!

Monday - Push - https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/16864877984

Tuesday - 3 Mile Run - the students are back and taking up all the parking spots and equipment, I drove around the block 3 times at 545 and said "F" it, I'll run at home later. - https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/16879678660

Thursday - 3 Mile Run - Same story as Tuesday, but I ran outside instead. - https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/16892625752

Today - Hybrid Legs / Pull - I fought the students  off and got some stuff done today! - https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/16900851670

Today's Weight - 179.3. Been maintaining good deficits all week and not binging like a doucher. Hopefully be down around to 177 by the end of next week.

Wow! Sounds like great progress!

How do you like the oculus golf? I’m glad you were able to get a little golf in, even if it’s virtual!

I did a German Body Composition workout on the tonal this morning and it’s a pretty unique style of exercise. I might start a program this week and see how I like it long term. It’s basically working out certain muscles while resting others so there’s very little complete resting time.
Have a good holiday weekend everyone!

I have turned the corner and now it is just keep moving to get the body used to moving again.

I am really liking the Golf+. I am finding I like the competitions, getting the flow back of being somewhat competitive. my wife even wants to try it. She is going to have to get her own acct though, 😁.  Also liking the practice areas. I didn't think it would be much of anything, I find it fun. When a club just doesn't work like I think it should, I can adjustments unlike at a normal range where I have to fit my swing to the club rather than the club to my swing.

Haven't been able to work out this week as I got the crap my kids brought home from the first week of school. Been feeling pretty crappy since Sunday, and only felt good enough to work out today.

Today's Weight - 179.7

Been managing good eating habits this week, not necessarily tracking everything but have been maintaining well.

I got out for a mountain bike ride last night. That was the first time I'd been to that track in about a year! I honestly did better than I thought I would. That track is very tough with lots of climbs and switchbacks.

Hey Folks

With the start of football season and working schedules for officials I have been swamped. Good thing I am not back to work yet, but that is coming soon.

My PT has been getting better and I have been able to do more, push more and just basically more in general.

Keep up the good work

You can You tube "Golf stretch" or flexibility stretches and find a plethora of video's.

Hip flexor stretches are an awesome thing to make sure to do. Aa we age hip flexors seem to the ones that nobody thinks about but they are a huge part of being able to make a turn in the golf swing.

Here is one simple but surprisingly effective routine.
