Canucklehead
Went out his morning for a few holes to see how the Matrix White Tie shaft would feel. I hopped on #6 with three more guys who had already started. I ended up two over on the 6 - 10 and then shot a 40 on the back nine. Just a quick work about the shaft I am testing and I can best describe it as "SMOOTH"!I'm still outta town for a week and it's gonna drive me nuts every day until I get home 😥 Sent from my E6853 using MyGolfSpy mobile app ole gray

Rickp
Interesting day today. Started off my doing yard work for 2 hours in the morning followed by running a few errands. I managed to hit a few balls around lunch time, practicing hitting shots into the wind since we had about 15-20 mph breeze in the face on the range. Did quite well I must say. Then I went to a Dr. appt, and he gave me a clean bill of heath for another 6 weeks. So I stopped and had an Iron Horse Irish Death ale on the way to the golf course. My wife and I play practice rounds on Thu and Fri after she gets off work. We don't keep score, but I was +2 for nine holes with two birdies. Chipped in for birdie on #1, but the highlight was the 214 yard par 3 #8 hole into the wind. The pin was back right on a lower shelf, so from the middle of the green it's downhill left-to-right breaking putt. My tee shot stopped in the middle of the green about a foot and a half from taking the downhill break to the cup. So, I had a downhill 20 footer with a 10 foot break. Drained it for birdie. I get hugs for birdies, and I haven't had that many lately, so getting two tonight was nice! Here's a pic of my lie in the green side bunker on the par 5 #6 hole. IMG_3118.jpeg This is what bunkers look like at a muni by the end of the day. Not many rake their footprints, and the geese leave their own tracks. I did get the ball out onto the green!! Yuck Nice rake job! Kenny B
Yuck Nice rake job! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy The bunkers are raked every day by maintenance crews when they mow. Early in the day people do a reasonable job of raking, but in the afternoon I think people say: "Well, there won't be many golfers later today, and they probably won't be in the bunker, and they are going to be raked in the morning anyway." So the don't rake... trying to get in more holes before dark. MaxEntropy
A local country club has started offering "member for a day" tee times (I assume they need a little more revenue?). I took advantage of it today. I've never played the course, but it is pretty nice - greens were very fast. I played much better than Tuesday, but ever since I switched to the claw grip, it seems to take longer to dial in the speed, so putting was a bit of a disaster, even after spending about 20 minutes on practice green. I got off the tee a lot better today and hit some pretty good irons. 45 and 42 for a +16. I hit a Few very nice hybrids, but the highlight was a nice sand save - I don't get to play courses very often with nice bunkers but I had a serious fried egg that I managed to blast out to within tap in distance for par. As soon as I hit it, it occurred to me I should have taken a picture of the lie. Kenny B
Wasted a really good round by making a double and a triple. Just had a brain f@rt on two holes. Still shot 80 and I can't complain because that has been my best score for the last couple of months. But just taking a bogey on those two holes would have been a 77 score. My wife shot a career best 82. My wife and I played with the Service Manager and his boss at our local Dodge dealer where I get my Charger serviced, and we all had a great time. They asked us to play in a charity scramble in two weeks. I'm not big on scrambles because of all the sandbagging, but I'm sure we will have fun, and I would support the charity anyway. fozcycle
My best round of the season, spoiled! I pulled my old Powerbilt AFO irons out of the garage and decided to play them. The grounds are wet and soft due to the daily rain we have been getting soaked with causing us to play cart path only. So I thought the wider sole of the Powerbilts may give me an edge over my new Ben Hogan's. I started out missing a putt for a double on the first hole then produced back to back Birdies with the drive on the #2 Par 3 landing just 2'11' from the cup! I made my putt on #3 for the second Birdie. Then I missed my putt on #4 and proceed to 3 putt, going from birdie to bogey. #5 saw my drive on the right then my second shot glanced off the lone pine tree and hit the water. I took a drop at 75 yards, landed softly about 7' from the cup and made the putt for a bogey. Hole #6 Par 3 saw my ball land on the green just 12' from the cup. I missed the birdie on the lower side and made the par. Well, this kept,on through 9 holes ending in 40. Then the rain came along with Lightning for over an hour before it stopped so we ended up calling the game. I so wanted to finish the round, but it was not to be.
