Calling All SIM Golfers!

As we prepare for our first season in the VSCT (Virtual SIM Champions Tour), the bones of the league are starting to form. While we add the finishing touches. I wanted to take this opportunity to ask a couple questions:

• Are you interested in participating? If so, reply to this thread.
• Are there any particular courses you would like highlighted? If so, drop them here with name and format i.e Rapsodo Courses, E6, etc.

The format will be similar to how we do the VCT weekly, but if there are any tweaks or questions you would like to suggest, please feel free to do so here.

I'm going to have to figure out more on the Mevo+ and alignment.  I know I don't have the course options like the Rapsodo.

Would be interested in this.  Using a Rapsodo which has a ton of courses.

Know the rounds I have played, would need to determine tee boxes, whether environment is turned on (ie, does the rough punish you), and putts (can’t putt on the Rapsodo, so set up circle around the hole for 1 putt/2putt).

Since most of the sim don't incorporate putting, using proximity to the hole as a means to handicap might not be a bad idea. For example, Flight I sets a 5 foot 1 putt circle, Flight II sets a 10 foot 1 putt circle, etc.

That would work, I’m good however it goes as long as everyone is playing by the same rules.

What software will we need? I only have TGC2019 on my sim.

Ben, I would be interested in participating.  For the winter season I practice and play in a golf facility that has Trackman 4.  It does incorporate putting, which has gotten much better and more realistic, but I usually set it up with automatic two putt with a 6 foot gimme circle, as its far quicker to play a round.  Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.  It is appreciated by all of us.

Because there are a myriad of options available, I am working towards setting parameters that would apply regardless of the software. So that anyone with a SIM or access to a SIM can participate. Details to follow soon

I'd be interested, but could not promise consistent participation depending on work and kids...I have a Mevo+ with the free 6 courses on e6, Awesome golf, and GSPRO

This league will be like our VCT, in that participation is voluntary and you can compete weekly as it fits your schedule. There will be no penalty for missing a week or 3, just post as you are able

Josh are you IOS or pc?  
 

Im definitely in. With Gspro now I believe most courses should be doable for me. Planning on playing Georgia Golf Club(Augusta) this weekend hopefully.

I have my Garmin R10 at the house, but also have access to the Trackman room here in the community although I don't know what courses they have available to us.

I could set it up to the PC but not sure I want to spend a grand on the TGC.  Being outdoors, I don't use it enough with the course just down the street.

That’s understandable if you have a pc and don’t care if it’s 1080p or 4K and a little stutter doesn’t bother ya, Gspro is $250 a year with access to online tourneys

Using e6 as a baseline id recommend these settings. 

No Mulligan’s (score card will show them)

Putting set to computer decides ( it takes a bunch of things into account and unlike autoscore and Gimme it doesn't reward a hot steak)

Green and fairway firmness and speed can be in the middle just for consistency.

Rapsodo advertises around 30,000 courses

Is there somewhere that I can get more information on how this works? I’ve been interested in the other virtual competitions in the past and never got around to understanding how exactly it worked so I moved on for the time being.

I plan to this go around! The “season” is sadly almost over and I’ve been seeing some improvement so I can let the the progress stop now!

That's the whole reason I bought my sim stuff. 

 

 

Also for those who want to get started its not hard to build a sim cheap. 

Garmin r10. $400

Mat 5x5.  90 on amazon 

Screen (size to fit space) 70 to 140 ish

And that will let you get hitting. I had an iPad so I pared that to the launch monitor and used an hdmi to put it on my big screen in the garage. I played like this for the whole first year and it was fine. Sure seeing it on a screen is better but this gets it going.

I’m still outside and using my iPhone.. I’m thinking of trying to build a shed but the rapsodo needs a lot of space so who knows

Ive got mine set up in a two car garage.  

You need the full width of both sides to make a doppler based model work. I have mine on weights along the bottom so I can just disconnect two bungies and the door lifts the screen out of the way.
