Another collapse on 16, 17 & 18.   Hit my driver really well today, even with the temps in the lower 50's this morning...slow start with a chunk on 3 and a great 75 yard shot to 4 feet only to miss the putt.  Bogey 4 and 5.  Birdie 6, bogey 7, birdie 8.  Good up and down on 9...not feeling to bad going to the back.  Then the last 3 holes hit AGAIN.

Thought I was going to have a good round after the front, but went on a bit of a bogey train on the back.  Putts weren't dropping in my normal range.

Played yesterday, 9/29.  Couldn't post after I got home.

Good golly, what a disaster.  I'm hoping this is one of the last rounds ever like this.

I may have wrecked myself by playing 18 holes of disc golf in the morning.  This is one of the tougher public courses in PDX, and has plenty of trouble.  I found all of it.  Started off with shot 1 topped straight into the water.  The second ball for three went long left out of bounds.  Dropping 5 I then found sand in a fairway bunker that was maybe 40 yards from the green.  9-iron chip out was good and got up and down for a triple.  Then things went downhill.

Managed to do well on holes 8 and 9 with a bogey par, but it wasn't able to maintain.  Had a total of 13 drops, 12 of those were never to be found.  Lost a full sleeve more than the most balls sacrificed to this course previously.

Here's my shame. I'm posting this round just because there's only a few of us in flight IV, so it's still worth at least 9 points. 😂

Another round with the new PXG’s and my back held up once again! Hit 15 greens and 8 fairways. Made 2 bogies offset by 2 birdies. I am loving the new irons, but the jury is still out on the shafts. I find I am a half club shorter with the MMT 105 S shafts vice my normal DG Tour 120’s S400. However, the ball goes almost dead straight every time. I just hate hitting more club, but the accuracy is so impressive!

It was toasty yesterday in San Antonio, but was able to get out and use this free green fee on the final day of the month.

Some poor stuff and some good stuff

Front saw me make a couple terrible decisions that led to a triple and double on the par 5s. Throw in another double on the front after a good tee shot with 110 yards in from the fairway just for fun .... and that was all through hole 7

Finally settled in and went (-1) over the next 6 holes before throwing my 3rd double of the day.

Course was decent shape with firm and quick greens ... rough was THICK. Probably the thickest I've ever seen at any of the trail courses here. Made looking for balls pretty fun ! (NOT)

2 birdies was fun.... but 4 holes with double or worse really hurt. Oh well, golf is hard

Overall a fun day. Best day I've had off the tee in a while. 3 lost balls on 2nd shots plus 4 chunked wedges isn't super ideal but still left the course feeling better about my game compared to the previous couple outings.

Willow is getting closed and renovated in 2025 ... can honestly saw I won't miss hole #2 for a while

The wind finally died down in Key West, but the fairways were still a bit wet.  Overall, it wasn't a very pretty sight today!

image.png.c4b57eb250200797a4f13cc2dbb97c0b.png

The driving accuracy with my new Titleist Long Game GT3 driver was decent at 86% with only two misses.  My greens in regulation was pitiful at 6%.  Though I had misses both left and right, two-thirds of my approach shots were still short.  I might just have to replace my current Callaway Paradym X with my previous Ping G30's.  The Paradym X's deserve a "time out."

The three up and downs for par was also below my standard performance.  Overall, my chipping let me down a bit.  Too often, I missed my chipping/pitching spot by a few feet, hit the classic Rees Jones false fronts which left me with long putts for par.  For the second round in a row, I had a three putt.  In each case I was significantly short leaving myself with a 6-8 foot putt for bogey.

In hindsight, I think the excitement of starting my Titleist Long Game review has me overswinging yielding to overall less than stellar performance.  I need to tell myself to slow down a little.  When I did that later in my round, I got better results.

My hope is that I can turn things around on Thursday and/or Saturday.  If the weather holds, I will be part of the Florida State Golf Association team rating (and playing) Card Sound Golf Club, one of the most exclusive clubs in the country.  I really don't want to embarrass myself!

I haven’t played this course in a while.  My regular course was closed for aerification.  It was a promising round on the front 9 (39), but came back to reality on the back (43).  While the back score doesn’t look bad, I had a 2 doubles and a triple on the back. I try to stay away from the big score, but lost balls got the best of me. The 2 birdies on the back helped, but the damage was already done. It’s a nice course, but not real difficult if you keep the ball in play. The course was in good shape. The give everyone that plays a bag tag. It’s nice quality. I don’t think it’s all copper, but it is all metal and fairly heavy. The first 2 pictures are of Payne’s Valley. Tiger Woods first public golf course. The course is right above Buffalo Ridge. You can see the course from #15.

Finally dried out from a week's worth of rain due to the hurricane.  All-in-all, round was just ok, although I did beat my dad, which is always great! 🙂

Putting was a bit hit or miss (3 3-putts), but that was bound to come back down to earth after a great run with Chewie the DF3.  IMG_6605.jpg.5b50d45ae102be81d77e21324fec5bfa.jpg

I went #NUCLR this morning (for me anyways, not for most people haha). I broke 90 for the first time ever with an 89 and I even tried to give it away on 18. I made the often mentioned mistake of tallying up my score on 17 as I felt like I was playing really well up to that point (the irons were dialed in today). I was sitting on an 81 before the 18th tee box and took a triple bogey 8! I think my biggest positive of the day was my usual weakness of tee shots, I hit 6/12 FIR and I can only think of one miss that was in/behind trouble that made me waste a shot by playing out to the middle. All in all a great Wednesday morning round, and my personal best round! (It does help the mental game to get through 18 in 2.5 hours lol)

Tried to get revenge before I had to fly out.  Was hoping to get under 106, as that would drop my handicap, but was not to be had.  Best on this course so far is 113, so still not quite there.

I didn't do as well as I had hoped, but did make a better cut against the dragon.  Shaved 26ish strokes over the last score, but still felt like I played terribly.  So many shots near the green and poor putting kept this score from reaching it's potential.

Lost fewer balls, but did terribly on holes that I had previously played well.  The wind really kicked up to a 2/3 club breeze by the 8th hole, and kept up through the 18th hole.  Tried to play it, but since I don't usually play in wind I sometimes tried to power a club, which lead to a killer mishit.  Still probably lost 7-8 balls.

Not going to be able to bring clubs to get a round in in Toronto next week, but will be home to get something on paper for the first week of the tourney.

Good round, made a couple of natural birds to help the cause.  Back getting better, but it it seems I get one good round vs 2 off rounds during the week.  Like before, 3 wood and hybrids are saving me with lack of distance off the tee right now.

Good round, driver working well. Short game and putter bailed me out on numerous occasions. It also helps making a 20’ and 35 foot putt for birdies. Hoping consistent play continues into the playoffs.

Made the trip to the exec I learned to play on.  It wasn't bad but it felt mediocre as a follow up the high of last week.   Particularly when I was as many strokes over par for 9 holes as I was for 18 holes last week.   😆

Decent ball striking round. One of those days rolled the ball well with the putter but could not get anything to drop. Made only 1 birdie putt out of like what I call makeable ones. I also missed a couple of par putts I feel I should have made.

A sprint round in under 3 hours this evening, finishing just as the sunset. With us trying to get round before sunset meant we didn't hang around looking for balls or taking our time over putts. Lost 2 balls both resulting in triples which really killed the round.

My last competition of the season on Saturday, hoping for a good finish.

Didn't hit many terrible shots but couldn't score.  6 pars and 12 bogies, scared the hole on 1 of 6 birdie putts and made a couple testy comeback putts to prevent 3 putting.  One 3 putt green and one 1 putt green to save a par, missed several putts inside 10 feet trying to scramble for pars, total of 36 putts.

Goal for next year is improved wedge game and better putting.  I need to get putts down to 32 or better per round, and some of that will be done by getting chips and pitches closer to the pin.

I will be scheduling a putter fitting and lesson from my local pro within the next few weeks to get this process started.
