Grips: The Glorious and Gruesome

For leather, I like http://www.bestgrips.com

I used to be a Golf Pride Tour Velvet fan for basic black rubber, but I think the Lamkin Crossline Tour has it beat for quality/feel/value.

I'm expecting 2 Iomic Sticky club grips to arrive sometime in the next week or so. I'll probably put one on an iron and one on a hybrid to test.

For the putter, I like the Golf Pride Tour Classic.

I've tried Winn club and putter grips here and there, but they've always been too slick for me ... so I haven't gone back to them.

For performance and value, the Lamkin Crossline can't be beat. I play them on my irons and wedges. I experimented with the Winn PCI-TL on my driver for 2 weeks last season. When the surface started pealing off the grips, the experiment ended. I know of others who have had similar problems with Winn. I'm probably done with them.

I'm going to pick up a Lamkin N-DUR to try out on my driver, and maybe my fairway woods.

I know I just said I don't want to change, but now I'm going to GG to have a look at the Crossline Tour's if Moe says they're better (and cheaper!).

Golf Pride New Decade Multi Compound White.

For putters I just have the stock Scotty Cameron full cord, but it is very worn and I am thinking of getting a GD ND MC putter grip for it because I like the cord feel.

I'll chime in.

Loved the original lamkin grips on my OS2 irons, got the burners last year and took off those stock grips after 2 rounds. terrible IMO

Replaced them with white Sharpro multi-compounds. I liked these and used them all summer and fall before they showed wear

Replaced those with the Itomics, white on the woods and red on the irons and wedges. While I like the sticky feel of the itomics, they may be moving on due to size. They are a little bigger than the standard grip. Not a lot, but just enough to feel a little off. May try the new white lamkins...

Putter is Standard Iomic. It is far and away the best feeling for me.

I play a mix of Golf Pride Grips. Dual Durometer on the driver, Tour Velvet on the 3 wood, Hybrid and Wedges and then Mutli Compounds on the Irons. I think I may do all GP NDMC on all my clubs but match up the grips to match the clubs to look like this:

Black/Blue for the Driver w/ GD YS+6 shaft

Black/Orange for 3 Wood w/ UST PF V2

Black/Green for Hybrid w/ stock Aldila hybrid shaft for cobra

Black/White for the Vokeys

Titleist 905R 9.5* w/ RIP Beta 60x

Adams 4060 16* w/ Matrix F7M2s

Maltby KE4 Tour 19* w/ AXE Xcaliber Tour Hybrid TS

Adams CB1 3-PW w/ KBS Tour S Hardstepped 1x

Scratch 8620 DS TNC grind 53* & DS EGG grind 58* w/ Dynamic Gold S300

Ping Redwood D66 w/ KBS Tour Black Nickel

I love the thoughtful color coordination.

I'd love to see the look your club guy gives you when you're explaining to him "Now the white ones go on the wedges and...."

It just feels a bit wrong, and definitely worse than the iomic

grabbing that one gives me the ready to putt feeling...

Yeah I'd probably give them to my buddy who regrips clubs for the Country Club when the course isnt busy. Better yet I'll just type of a set of directions and have someone regrip them.

I had played Golf Pride V55 Full Cords for years, then switched to the Golf Pride Decades for the last two years. Now I am using the Lamkin 3Gen grips and really like them so far. I will usually put new grips on in March, replace them in May, and then again at the end of July.

Are you playing the white ones? How is the dirt factor?

Did you look at the N-Dur? They are on my list to check out next. A bit more money though.

Yes, they are the white ones and the dirt factor is pretty good with them. I wipe them down with a little grip solvent every couple of days and they look brand new. I thought about the N-Dur grips, but I didn't care for the feel of the bottom portion.

I like GP Multi Compunds. But being as I'm to cheap to pay for them. So I use Tacki-Mac's at the moment. And have used Goodyears in the past as well with success.

They were a little softer, lasted just as long, and when I bought them, theyw were half the price. I think Golfsmith had them then for $3.40. There are alos Medallist and Avon grips that are cheaper the MC's and just as good a product.

Also, where did you find them? My google search came up woefully short on results.

Golfsmith has them on the bay for $4.99

3.99 for yellow though (not kidding)

That is the first I've heard of that. Are you talking about the same solvent they use in clubmaking? Isn't that toxic? Can you use that on any kind of grip?

NICE!! I might have to check out the Goodyears on my next re-grip. I don't think they carry them in the store though. Online only?

$3.99 now. It says they have in store pick-up, What ever that means, maybe you have to order them in.

Yeah, and then you just pick it up at your nearest store (unless they have it in stock and then you can pick it up right away).

At $4 vs $8 for the GP MC's, you can't tell the grip is twice as good. I may not replace my spikes very often but I'm pretty anal about keeping my grips in good conditon. Even though my irons are nearly 20 years old, and the 9 iron's grooves may be on the way out.

WOW. Are the multi-compounds really that much? I guess I haven't priced them out. Yeah, won't be doing that any time soon...
