Currently in the market for a new gap wedge. Right now I'm a mid-handicapper (17) but improving consistently. Swing speed is on the slower end of the spectrum across the board. I play Ping i500 irons with Elevate 95 R Flex TSS shafts. I have a 56 degree vokey sm8 s grind 10 bounce that I got used last season that unfortunately does not have any labels on the shaft. I have absolutely loved the vokey 56 degree since getting it, especially out of the sand and open face shots, but am also very comfortable with it from anywhere about 60 yards and in off fairway or out of the rough.

I'm looking for a gap wedge that will primarily be used for full swing shots in between my Ping i500 PW (90-110 yards) and vokey sm8 56 degree (45-65 yards). Trying to decide between staying consistent with irons and getting the Ping i500 UW (50 degree loft) with Project X IO 5.5 flex shaft or getting the vokey sm9/sm10 50 degree f grind or cleveland rtx zipcore 6 50 degree with custom shaft choice.

Any guidance on shaft options based on my game would be great!

since you plan on using it for full wing shots the general suggestion would be to get the i500 UW with the same shaft as your irons.

I just bought a Shot Scope H4, and really like it so far after three rounds. I'm wondering what the screen is made of, and whether some sort of screen protector should be applied to prevent scratches due to tapping the tags every shot. Any advice, and has anyone found proper size screen protectors?

Yes it will get scratched.   https://www.amazon.com/IPG-Protector-Invisible-Guard-Smooth-Self-Healing/dp/B09YRZZKC9

Based on how they measure I am sure it is.

Has MGS tested these balls vs the 2021 model?

so many radical claims about the new TP5X going 7 yards further than the previous model.....just curious if there is any merit to the new speed wrap core or whatever they call it

MGS does their ball test every 2 years.  They do ball lab on new balls to test conformance parameters but not a full distance kind of test.  The full ball test was done last summer.

I actually found an older Rife ‘General’ and have used it for about 6 months now. It is forgiving and has the same roll groove tech as you see in Evnrolls, I have really enjoyed it thus far.

It isn't the same tech.  The Rife advertises forward roll which is supposed to reduce skidding.   The EvnRolls have a groove pattern that is designed to reduce dispersion bye creating consistent ball speed across the face.

I came across this app and it's free. So far it seems too good to be true because the way it works on my watch is better then what I pay for 18 Birdies. Has anyone used it long enough to know if it's truly free??

Per their website it is 100% free.  Per the app store it is 100% free.  There is also a forum review.

I've been thinking about getting some new irons, I was wondering what are some of the new lofts on your new irons you have purchased within the last couple of years and if they are stronger lofts than your old sets?  Also, how long did it take you to get used to the longer distance?

Don’t know, don’t care.   Some people hit new irons farther some don’t.   The goal is to know what club goes what distance and being able to fill distances between the longest and shortest club in your bag.   When I get clubs I learn how far each goes and adjust to get proper gapping.

I wanted to ask this question. I am waiting for my DF3. After reading all the reviews, online hype, I had to jump in and try this thing. The one thing I keep reading is you have to learn how to use it, which didn't make sense to me. I have a straight forward and back swing. Very minimal arc.

Other than the above dot drill, is there anything else to have to re-learn with LAB?

IMO, it will depend on how you putt now.   You may have to adjust ball position, you may have to change how you move your hands, wrists, and/or forearms.  You may have to change setup.  You may have to change visual cues. If you are actually moving the head SBST you may have to putt with an arc.  You may have to change nothing.

  9. Went to MGS HQ today to hit golf balls; first swings of a golf club since my surgery in January.   Just hit 7 iron and wedges to see how I would do.   Hit about 100 balls total and have lost about 1 to 1 1/2 clubs of distance but hit the ball pretty well and hit the green about 85% of the time.   Short game shots were pretty good and I was able to dial in the distance wedges a bit.

The good news is that I didn't have any chest pains and only a little bit of shortness of breadth (nothing like I was having).  Few hours later and I am a little sore around my incision but nothing horrible.   Guess it is time to start ramping it back up.....gonna start most wanted testing next week so I'll be able to get lots of reps in prior to the MGS Kingsmill outing.

Virginia was the 1st state in the US to GROW peanuts.

ALABAMA is 1st in growth, harvest, and production,  followed by Georgia.

I can find articles that say Suffolk is the peanut capital.   And Mr. peanut lives in Suffolk.

Ping has been making heads with interchangeable shafts for several years. Question, can any year shaft be used in any year head?

No.   The adapters for the g400 and before era are different rah the G410 and later.    There may also be differences between head type (driver, fairway, hybrid)  always ask high adapter it is.
