What an awesome WITB with thorough thought of each club. Thanks for sharing. I think I’m in the same boat with your decision in 2021 to get rid of your fairway wood. I only hit mine once every 3/4 rounds. It’s probably a useless club at my home course and would be better to have a club I would actually use. Definitely have my wheels turning in my head right now.

Appreciate the comments. I really wanted to make sure there was a reason to be carrying each club in my bag. While the Super Hybrid doesn't get as much use as other clubs, it's been great when I need to drop back from driver a little bit (which isn't all that often, but happens). My home course is fairly short (several par 4s in the 300-yard range) so if I'm not hitting driver I'm usually hitting something even shorter than the Super Hybrid.

Same here, graphite shafts have completely eliminated joint pain and my tennis elbow. I am still hesitant to practice off mats to be honest, but I haven't had any concerns practicing a lot otherwise. The additional cost for graphite is well worth the reduced wear & tear on my body.

Nice looking bag to start 2022!

Thanks! Yes, the MMTs were a little expensive but I offset the cost by buying the Sub70s used and pulling shafts/doing clubwork myself. They are worth every bit that I paid. The steel shaft/mat combo was bound to inflict some long term pain.

Thanks for the color! One other question since you built them - did you find that swing weights were a fair bit higher than with the CTL?

My gamer $ Taper seems to be out of stock/backordered pretty much everywhere so I may just take a chance on a 105TX set given my experience with the 125tx and the reviews I have been able to read. When it comes to irons I am not much of a club ho but if I can blame it on the supply chain...🤣

The MMTs swingweighted like steel for me in the Sub70s at standard steel playing lengths. I usually cut shaft to exact length not counting grip cap, and with the little additional weight from the brass shim and the larger BB&F ferrule they are D4-D5 across the set once gripped. That's actually where I had my Maltby PTMs with the CTLs. I've found that swingweight to jive well with my swing more so than the standard D0-D2 range that many manufacturers have.

EDIT - One more thing to note - I was not able to find tip weights that fit the MMTs. They have a very, very small tip opening. The thinnest weights I could find on the internet (from Billy Bob's) were still far too thick. I ended up not needing them, but if your heads are light, you might be looking at lead tape as your only weighting option.

Recognizing that all mileage varies, now that you have played the 105tx for a while can you talk about them compared to other iron shafts you have tried? I have a 125tx utility in my 3i that is a bit too much for me so am thinking about 105tx in my next iron set. I did see that you came from C taper lites so that scares me a bit when I will be coming from $ taper 130 and have always played heavy shafts, but it also looks like you have stout wood shafts so I am guessing your swing may have changed a bit over the years?

I am guessing that 125 stiff or tx soft stepped is likely my answer but the 105 is so much easier to get and I would rather save the hundreds of dollars by avoiding a fully customized component build if possible. My local golf mart didn’t have the 105tx to try so I am sourcing as much outside information as possible. Thx!

First and foremost, I primarily ended up with graphite because of my winter practice off of mats. The previous two winters I visited a heated range about once a week from November to March and had various issues with sore wrists and shoulder pain. This is the first winter I've been all graphite. Combined with having my own home hitting area with a Fiberbuilt FlightDeck, I've had little to no soreness or pain despite practicing more often.

All that being said, yes, I came from C-Taper Lites (primarily the 110 models in stiff) after the outcomes of two separate Trackman iron fittings from different companies in 2019 and 2020. During both fittings I saw noticeably better results from the CTLs than anything else at the time. I looked back and my max 7 iron swing speed was roughly 84-87 MPH during both fittings.

You are correct that my swing has changed a bit since those fittings as I've continued to take lessons and pushed myself in the gym. I've had a few lessons this past winter and have been pushing closer to 95 MPH cruising speed on Trackman with a 7 iron at times. On my Mevo+ I've seen 100+ a handful of times as well.

I ended up with the MMTs specifically in 105 TX because I was looking for something tip stiff with a fairly high bend point, which seems to be the general profile of the CTLs. I also was looking for something in the 110-115 gram range. During the 2019 fitting, I had good results with SteelFiber i110s which led me to believe I was in the right sweet spot for weight.

After that, it was a trial and error process. I'm not sure if this is still the case, but I was able to order the 4 iron shaft separate from the 5-9 shafts. I ordered the 4 first, installed it straight in and figured I could soft-step if necessary. That turned out not to be the case. I then ordered the rest of the shafts and the matching wedge-specific shafts as well.

Overall spin is a probably a little lower than ideal with the Sub70 699 Pros, but I also tend to close the face a bit and hit lower spinning draws in the first place. I do get enough height, however, and paired with a higher-spin ball I usually get hop-and-stop performance into greens.

Late last season I ordered my Cobra Utility with the Recoil 110 F5 and that's a nice feeling shaft as well, and it produces a slight bit more spin. I would be interested in trying those in a full set, too, but I see the price has recently gone up a little into SteelFiber territory.

Regardless, I don't see myself going back to steel anytime in the future.

Was a rough weekend for me overall and didn't bother stepping on the scale this morning. Back at it today.

  5. edingc's WITB - 2022 Edition

    IMG_13022022_142810_(800_x_600_pixel).jpg.0db1d5d290ba6f19728a49cfcbc9fe59.jpg

Another semi-lengthy WITB bag as the 2022 season draws near. There has not been nearly as much turnover in my bag this offseason as last, but I still made a few changes.

Driver - Callaway Epic Max LS (9°, set to 8°), 45.75", Dumina AutoFlex SF505X

    IMG_13022022_142648_(800_x_600_pixel).jpg.c3ccf64d728a7442694003bd8f698a66.jpg

You can find a pretty lengthy review of my experience with the mythical AutoFlex over in my unofficial review:

This combination returns in 2022 as I hope to continue to improve from the tee box. I still suffer too many penalties off the tee box, so naturally this spot of the bag is also open to change as I continue my quest to lower my handicap.

2 Hybrid - Callaway Super Hybrid (17°, set to 16°), 41.5", Mitsubishi MMT 80HY TX

    IMG_13022022_142704_(800_x_600_pixel).jpg.da1cd03dc82464940eee99a0a5495bbd.jpg

This club primarily sees tee duties off one specific hole at my home course, but this offseason I've focused on improving my off-the-deck swing with it as well. A change from my last WITB post is that this club now has the Mitsubishi MMT shaft in it, continuing the trend from my irons below.

4 Hybrid - Callaway Epic Flash (21°, set to 20°), 40", Mitsubishi MMT 80HY TX

    IMG_13022022_142715_(800_x_600_pixel).jpg.bc213d611d82192292ab309fa9f6c0af.jpg

The Epic Flash is sneaky long and just wants to hit the ball straight. Like the Super Hybrid, this also now has a Mitsubishi MMT hybrid shaft.

    4 Utility - 2020 Cobra KING (22.5°, set to 21°), 38.5", UST Mamiya Recoil 110 F5

    IMG_13022022_142726_(800_x_600_pixel).jpg.8b8cad7e4e25ffd1049774d270c57c97.jpg

This was an addition late to the bag late season. I've found it much more forgiving than the set 4 iron, and the adjustable loft is a nice thing as well.

    5-GW - Sub70 699 Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Mitsubishi MMT Taper 105 TX

    IMG_13022022_142737_(800_x_600_pixel).jpg.00dde8240256513adb9cb77aa796675a.jpg

Small change from last year, when I gamed 4-6 regular 699s in a combination set with the 699 Pros. I ended up not liking the offset difference between the regular 699s and 699s Pros. I caught a great Black Friday deal on a used 699 Pro set and scavenged heads from it to make the swap.

I absolutely love these irons and the graphite shafts have been awesome on my joints. I practice a ton off of mats in the winter and have had nearly zero wrist or shoulder pain this winter.

54°, 58° - Cobra MIM Black, Mitsubishi MMT Taper Wedge 105 TX

No individual picture, but these wedges are going on year three in the bag. While I love the MIMs, these are also likely to be replaced in the near future.

Putter - L.A.B. Golf DF 2.1, 36", 68°, Black with Custom Sightlines, BGT Stability Tour, L.A.B. Press II 3°

    IMG_13022022_142623_(800_x_600_pixel).jpg.888f22e4e2db694896bdc5787895bac3.jpg

This was an excellent purchase and I netted about a two stroke improvement in my putts per round last year despite hitting roughly the same amount of greens.

    Estimated Gapping

    • Driver: +++
    • 2 HY: 235 yards
    • 4 HY: 225 yards
    • 4: 215 yards
    • 5: 210 yards
    • 6: 198 yards
    • 7: 186 yards
    • 8: 174 yards
    • 9: 162 yards
    • PW: 150 yards
    • AW: 138 yards
    • 54: 126 yards
    • 58: 114 yards

    Future Plans

I am hoping to go for a full bag fitting sometime in early July, more just to have fun than out of need, but I'll be curious to see how the early season goes. I'm definitely open to changing anything and everything in the bag, except for putter. Wedges are the most likely change (or at least will be refreshed with new MIMs), but I wouldn't be surprised if a new Epic Super Hybrid makes an appearance at some point during the season.

  6. I got out to the garage last night and focused on just making a good, complete backswing. I have just been feeling a slower turn off the ball that allows my hips to move correctly. I don't think it's all that slow of a backswing in reality, it just feels slow to me. But by slowing down my feel a bit, I turn better into the back hip instead of swaying. When I get a good turn I hit the ball so much more solidly.

I worked through the bag and had some really great impact patterns with my 4 hybrid, 5 iron and 8 iron all after about 10 shots.

Lessons were the single most influential thing that helped my game.

Ditto. When I joined MGS in Dec. 2018 I figure I was somewhere around 25-30 handicap. Broke 90 once in my life during college when I was playing 2-3 times a week. In 2019 I got my handicap down to an ugly 11-something just by playing more, going to the range everyday and watching YouTube. I call it an "ugly" 11 because my swing was awful all around, driver went 240 total on "perfect" swings but would go 180-210 way right. I just played a slice and went with it.

I stated taking lessons in Nov. 2019 and have taken about 10-12 since then (with the rate I pay, honestly I've spent about as much as a new driver in total). While my handicap has only dropped as low as a 7-something last summer, golf is more fun and I'm continuing to see improvements in my game. I'm no longer playing a slice around the course and have the expectation that I can go low any day. I shot even par once last summer and am itching to go out and do that again.

When doing you wedge shots, how do the club head, ball speed, launch, and spin differ from club to club? If your club head is the same speed, but launch angle and spin vary, your distance should too.

One of the major issues I struggle with is that I seemingly adjust my speed to be about the same so that 1/2, 3/4 and full wedges all overlap within a single club more than they should. I really just need to go out and commit to figuring it out. It's one of those things where I didn't have a lot of success early on and just dropped it.

Cody, without giving away the farm can you describe the program from the Wayland manual?  Is there much in the way of sprinting, jumps, med ball work?  The description online seems to focus on mass and strength, but I don’t see a lot of power/speed/explosiveness discussed.

I would say the Big Hitters Program definitely focuses a lot more on mass and strength than some. There is medicine ball work, cable work and jumping, and I've been adding in sprints here and there. I personally feel like it's been the perfect balance between the main compound lifts and the explosive accessories. There are a lot of variations to the big three, with split squats, trap bar deadlifts and varying pushes and pulls (pulls ups, rows, reverse flies, incline, decline, etc.).

Certainly nothing earth shattering for those that have been programming their own stuff, but a good program overall. As you probably know, I suffer from f---around-itis so having the program has been helpful for me to stay on track.

Plan is to run it until end of April, switch to Fit for Golf's in season program for the golf season, move to a pure Starting Strength/Stronglifts from October to December and then probably back to the Big Hitters program by 2023. Subject to change, of course!

  9. Close-to-monthly update. Starting to see brief hope spring is around the corner with nearly 40 degree temperatures a few days this week. It's going to be bitter cold this weekend, unfortunately, but the long-term forecast looks promising. The last two years I've played in early March, and based on my first round last year I'm less than 35 days away from potentially getting out on a course again.

Things that have not received as much attention as they should:

    • Putting - While I've gotten the EXPUTT out a handful of times, I just haven't committed to rolling a lot of putts this offseason. I did have a few "ah-ha!" moments when I did practice, mostly related to keeping my lower body steady, and hopefully those will translate to the course.
    • Wedge matrix - I've really struggled the few times I've tried to put together a wedge matrix. Everything seems to go the same distance! I know it's technique, and it's something I should really get a lesson on at some point.
    • Driver - Haven't really been wanting to hit driver in the garage, and the few times I did I was not impressed with the Mevo+'s readings. I'm sure it's a combination of technique and possibly inaccuracy past a certain ball speed on indoor mode.
    • Speed training - I cut the Rypstick out very early in the offseason and need to pick that back up. I'm hoping to squeeze out another few MPH throughout the bag this season.

Things that have been progressing well:

    • Full swing practice - I've had my bouts of poor swings all winter, but things really have progressed nicely since my last lesson. I did a quick iron/hybrid gapping session last night and hit some fantastic shots, including three dead center off-the-deck 4 hybrids that felt awesome. Success in my swing is basically boiling down to good setup (for me, it feels outstretched and with high-ish hands, upright chest and some hip bend) and then making a good full turn with my left side. The only other thought/feel I've had is to remain tension free in my hands and wrists. When I get "tight" in my wrists, I tend to bow on the downswing and hit the ball left.
    • Fitness and diet - I'm still working my way through William Wayland's "Big Hitters Manual" and have thoroughly enjoyed the programming. I hit a new PB on bench press the other day, and loaded up 255 on deadlift with no issue. My legs haven't made as much progress as my upper body due to the muscle strain from early November that is still lingering, but I'm not too far from some of the goals I set at the beginning of the offseason. Diet-wise I'm stuck right around 180 pounds, which is good considering my lifts have gone up consistently. I'd really like to get down to 165 this year, but with golf season around the corner that may not be a possibility as my eating tends to pick up during the season as I walk a lot more.
    • Speed - I mentioned above that I cut out Rypstick but the weightlifting and just generally swinging faster has led to significant speed gains. Looking back on my first offseason range session, I've picked up a little speed across the board, and some major gains in ball speeds. Last night's three hybrid shots were a great example with club speeds recorded at 103+ each time, and ball speeds of 153+ each time.

I purchased the Mevo+ Pro Package and have been enjoying the additional club data it provides. I can't wait to get it outside on the actual range this summer.

A driver circa 1978 would cost over $1000 in today dollars. If you look at the history of club prices, yes they have always been expensive, however compared to almost every other product out there their price has actually come down not up.

And the thing is **most** people are not buying new iron sets each year or even every other year. We're an anomaly.

I don't think it's all that uncommon for people to hang onto iron sets for 10-12 years if they are not gearheads. Driver may see more turnover, but I know plenty of serious golfers that don't tinker with their bags.

Even at $1,500/set, over five years at 20 rounds per year, that's $300/year or $15/round to use the clubs. If I'm a casual golfer spending $1,500 for irons, I'm not playing goat pastures, I'm likely paying $50+ for a round and $30 in drinks. $15 isn't much to add.

Regardless, this release is very intriguing, especially in the retro spec lofts. Seems like such a configuration would split the forgiveness vs. loft jacking issue so many players distance irons have.

I know Ping has been a long-time contributor to MGS Forum tests and really, really hope these are a testing opportunity this year.

How do you like those grips in general? I have the Lamkin REL's and they are ok, the grips are in great shape still would rather experiment with tape then buy all new and realize they don't work...

I enjoy the Sonar Tours a lot. I had the regular Sonars on my Cobras for #CC4, but went with the Tours on the Sub70s and prefer the smaller lower hand (although, I'm obviously tinkering with that with the extra tape). They are fairly grippy feeling and not really soft at all, reminds me of something similar to a cord but easier on the hands. Some tack when freshly washed.

The little ribs do tend to wear off near my "trigger finger" on the lower hand, and they weren't all that great in the rain. But overall they have 75+ rounds on them plus a lot of practice and they'll last this year for sure, and I would guess even longer.

I think I'm going to give Pure Pros or the new Pure Combos a shot next time I'm in the market for grips.

  12. 1 hour ago, Reesedw said:

So you did under the lower hand, are you still using standard grips for everything or are you using mid-size??

    Standard size on everything.

Honestly, the major reason I experimented with it was because the Lamkin Sonars twisted a bit without actual grip tape. I thought maybe adding one more layer near where they twisted might make them stop. I haven't hit them enough yet to know if I was successful... 😀

They didn't that day. It might be different now that it's more than a month out from reopening. I just haven't called since. I do want to play there, it holds a special place in my heart considering that's where I got introduced to the game and have lots of great memories on that course.

We've lost a couple of courses in our area over the past five years and it sucks. Hopefully the new owners change their minds about singles and also keep the course in great shape for you. It's getting harder and harder to find affordable golf courses around here, so many of the good "mom and pop" run courses have closed up shop and sold out to developers.

  14. Still using the RCTs with the Mevo+ with adequate results. Definitely better than using the metallic dots or forgoing the dots altogether.

One thing I continue to notice is spin readings get more erratic as the cover of the ball gets more damaged. In my case the Mevo+ seems to report more low spin flier type shots when I'm using RCTs that have quite a few shots on them. No scientific analysis on this, but interesting to see.

And.... once you got it activated... and gave it a go...???  Come on... living vicariously through you here!!! 😉

I was able to get out last night for about 45 minutes and hit some balls. Unfortunately it was very cold, about 29 degrees, and my swing was not nearly as good as it was on Tuesday when it was much warmer.

The additional parameters are very nice to have and seem to be pretty accurate with what I see on Trackman when I take lessons.

I hit my 54 wedge, 7 iron and 4 utility. Starting with my wedge I noticed my path was more right than I'd want and to compensate I would really bow the wrist on the downswing and slam my face-to-path closed to hit the ball semi-straight.

I made some adjustments, feeling my swing more to the left and also moving my grip more neutral and hit some really straight balls with good distance and spin.

With the two longer clubs I struggled a bit more but realistically I was very cold. As is typical when I'm on Trackman, my face-to-path was bouncing all over the place. It largely comes down to my pivot. If I turn well on the backswing my numbers stabilize in a pretty tight range near zero. When I don't turn enough or sway a little, then my path tends to get left and my face-to-path can be very erratic.

Anyway, obviously the swing is not the point of this post, but I can see how these additional parameters are going to be very useful. It was also nice to see things like dynamic loft and descent angle, which confirmed that although my iron spin is a little lower than I'd like to see, my descent angle ensures that I will have no issue holding greens.

I will say, on the small screen of the iPhone, it would be nicer to be able to shrink the shot tracer a little bit so that you can see more data blocks.

So I'm right on the precipice of ordering a Mevo+.   Thanks to you guys for posting all your thoughts so far.  I have a few questions.

    • Do any of you use it primarily or extensively outiside?
      • And if you do, what perecentage of use is with range balls vs real tour level balls
    • I know @edingc just go the pro package, anyone else pick it up and use it yet.
    • I think I have an understanding of Fusion and what it does, but any more thoughts on the pros and cons of it would be helpful
    • do you guys use the range featujre more for data, or do you use the simulator for playing much at all
    • I would be using my I phone for the display outside to read my range data, is that going to be enough, or would I need to have tablet

AS mentioned I'll be using it mostly outside on the range and at times on the course (when it's closed and I can go out and pracitce at will)   On the range I'm thinking of also buying a quality net so I can use either ProV's or even the RCT balls.

    • Has anyone used the RCT balsl yet outside vs inside

So just interested in hearinng about mostly outdoor use in any manor from anyone, the pros and cons.  As I don't have an indoor area large enough at this point to use it.  So I want to make sure by only using it outdoors, I'm getitng the full value of it.

Thanks for any thougths on the above.

I can answer some of these:

Do any of you use it primarily or extensively outside?

I used it very often on the range this past summer. It works well. Obviously you need to align it to your target, but you can get away with quite a few shots before needing to realign due to divots, etc. I also used it on the course once last year just for fun. I think I hit five or six drives and thought it read reasonably well.

And if you do, what percentage of use is with range balls vs real tour level balls?

99 percent with range balls, which you can set in the FS Golf App. I believe there is a bit of normalization that occurs when the range ball setting is selected. Obviously spin can be a little funky with range balls.

I think I have an understanding of Fusion and what it does, but any more thoughts on the pros and cons of it would be helpful.

I'm not sure that it will be of much use for full swing, on range shots. Delicate chipping and putting, maybe. There's no way the camera on the Mevo+ is good enough to do much other than differentiate between ball and club head, which still may improve accuracy somewhat. I think this will be more of a help for people who use the simulation features a lot.

Do you guys use the range feature more for data, or do you use the simulator for playing much at all?

I'm almost exclusively using the range on the FS Golf App. I tried the simulator and just found it underwhelming. Of course, I only have a tiny iPhone screen and while I did eventually bring out a TV to hook up to, it's just not the same. I love just hitting balls and working on my swing, and so the range is perfect for that.

I think if I invested in a projector and screen I'd be more likely to want to use the simulator.

I do occasionally venture into the FS Skills challenges, but again, if I want to work on 50 yard pitches I'll usually just do that on the range view.

I would be using my iPhone for the display outside to read my range data, is that going to be enough? Or would I need to have a tablet?

iPhone is more than enough. You can re-arrange the data blocks to show the most important stuff for you. I currently show the shot shape on the range, carry, club speed, ball speed, height, spin, AoA, and vertical launch angle.

I will say that with the additional parameters unlocked by the Pro Pack, I will have a harder time with this as I'll have to scroll to see everything and the shot shape. I want to look at club path, face-to-path and descent angle, specifically.

Regarding the RCT balls, I have not used them outside but generally given enough flight the Mevo+ will pick up correct spin. If you are going to hit into a net outdoors I would recommend the RCTs, but you might also find success with the dots. My issue with the dots is that I would crack golf balls in less than 300 swings. The RCTs, by my estimation, last closer to 1500-2000 hits.

  18. So I took the plunge and ordered the Pro Package on release day. I was going to wait for reviews, but I figured I'd end up ordering it down the road anyway.

I wanted to give it a go last night because we had 40+ degree weather (no garage heat necessary!), but I couldn't figure out how to get the Pro Package key to activate successfully.

Kudos to Jason from FS Mevo support who resolved my issue through chat this morning:

    2. Connect to the Mevo+ wireless network through the FS Golf app.
    3. Click on "Activate Mevo+ Pro Package" from the app's settings screen.
    4. Disconnect from the Mevo+ wireless and connect to a working wireless connection to the Internet.
    5. Return to the FS Golf app and enter the Pro Package activation code.
    6. Re-connect to the Mevo+ wireless connection to complete activation.

Don't forget to re-enable your mobile data when finished.

Great overview edingc.  I have the Mevo and am "shopping" for a fuller featured LM.  Most of my LM work is in my makeshift home range (converted my carport), and I was leaning toward the Skytrak... but the Mevo+ has been a high contender.  Now with the added pro package... I may have changed my mind too.   So... one question... have you noticed the RCT balls making a noticeable difference in your tracking.  I admit, I am lazy about putting the dots on my balls when I use the Mevo... but having balls that provide better accuracy for my personal range makes sense if they are truly better.

    Thanks!!

For the regular Mevo, I don't think I'd bother with the RCTs. Yeah, the spin won't be perfect, but since you're not getting measured dispersion I'd consider it less important.

The biggest advantage of the RCTs for the Mevo+ is that I get more reliable spin (including left/right spin) and increased durability. With just a single dot I would break balls pretty quickly striking them in the same area. The RCT allows me to hit every part of the ball without worrying about orientation.

As I said, the Mevo+ still struggles a little bit indoors with longer clubs. I think it's close but not perfect. But having the RCT is a big help because it seems the Mevo+ tends to overestimate spin.

i am in between iron sets right now, looking to get fit with golf galaxy.  looking at either callaway, taylormade or srixon.  i have tried cobra and just didn't like them.

thoughts on some newer sets, for a mid handicap guy who is, recently, having a problem getting the ball in the air?

Assuming you want "new" sets and wanting less of a chunky SGI, though there have been several good releases over the past couple of years:

    • Callaway - Apex DCB, Apex
    • TaylorMade - P790
    • Srixon - ZX5

My sleeper budget set would by Sub70 699s or 699 Pros depending on how much offset you fancy.

  21. Here's something I've been eating a lot of lately. I've been trying more of a protein sparing modified fast approach for a few days each week. I typically eat something very high protein (usually just deli meat or shrimp) earlier in the day, and then have this at night as my "meal." It's very filling.

Also note, this is very, very salty as written. Within the confines of what I'm shooting for on PSMF, it's supposed to be. I will add some recommendations to reduce the salt below.

Old Bay Chicken and Vegetable Soup

    • (2) 12.5oz cans chicken breast, undrained
    • 1 cup water
    • 12oz frozen cauliflower rice
    • 4oz frozen broccoli florets
    • 1/4 cup canned, sliced carrots
    • 1/4 cup diced onion
    • 2 cloves garlic, diced
    • 2 tsp Old Bay seasoning
    • 1 tsp powdered chicken bouillon
    • 1/2 tsp Nu-Salt salt substitute (as a potassium supplement)
    • 1 Tbsp white wine vinegear or lemon juice
    • Bay leaf
    • Dried parsley, for garnish

Steam the frozen cauliflower rice and broccoli florets in the microwave until cooked.

Bring one cup water, onion, garlic, Old Bay, bouillion, Nu-Salt and bay leaf to gentle simmer for a minute or two, until onion and garlic has softened.

Add canned chicken and all vegetables to the pot, simmer until chicken is warmed through. Remove bay leaf and stir in dried parsley and vinegar/lemon juice before serving.

Now, to reduce the salt I'd recommend the following:

    • Remove the Nu-Salt
    • Halve the Old Bay (though it adds a nice flavor)
    • Drain and rinse the canned chicken prior to adding it to the soup. You will need to add back 1/2 cup or more of water if you want to maintain the "soupiness," however.

Works out to be about 700 calories, 120 grams protein, 13 grams of fat and 11 net carbs.

Any reasons for choosing Mevo+ over SkyTrak or other LMs?

Several things ultimately led me to choosing the Mevo+ this past summer. I had originally wanted a SkyTrak for a loooong time before changing my mind.

    1. Indoor/Outdoor Usage - I'm on the grass range a lot during the summer (I go almost everyday on my lunch break), and the Mevo+ works both indoors and outdoors. The SkyTrak has issues with capturing shots from grass and in bright sunlight.
    2. Portability - The Mevo+ is smaller than the SkyTrak. It also sits well behind the ball, so indoors there's little chance for a ricochet to come back and hit it, or for it to be hit by a swing.
    3. Android/iPhone apps - The FS Golf range is awesome. FS Skills app is fun, too. And they're both free. Plus you get five (now six, after today) free E6 courses that you can play on your iOS device. I also like that you can use your phone and get autoclipped videos (and they just added multi-cam support as well).
    4. Cost - The Mevo+ on sale was cheaper than the SkyTrak and has no recurring fees. It's still far cheaper than the next closest option, which I would consider to be the GC3. I know the Bushnell is $3,000, but it has a recurring fee. If I pull the trigger on the Pro+ Pack I'll be in $2,700 and have way more measured data (including club path and face-to-path) than the SkyTrak would have given me for not a lot cheaper.

Caveat to this is that I have a large enough garage to provide 13 feet of ball flight and eight feet behind the ball for the Mevo+ to work properly. I also use the Titleist RCT balls to get the most accurate ball data without needing the metallic stickers.
