Shankster
I'm like this with Thomas. Maybe it's because when he kept winning at the end of last year he screwed my chances of a big pay day in the season long pool I was in... he would hit a bad shot; get some miracle of a bounce. Completely snuff a shot; chip the next in. Bad lie; relief from Sprinkler head. It just didn't stop! Every shot he hit it just dropped me further out of it... so yeah... that's probably it! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy I have no money on any of it. JT and JS are on the same page in my book.

If you'll remember from the original pool announcement, rankings in the pool are determined by purse payout dollars. Kor.A.Door
Didn't get to watch much at all. On the road most of the day. Looks like some top names played well, and others not so well. Finau bad ankle and all, I wonder if that will catch up to him tomorrow with all the walking, but im Sure the doctors are working closely with him on that, a bunch of guys did what you need to do on Thursday, just play decent, you can't win on day one, but you sure can lose it on day one (just ask Sergio). Phil, Rickie, JT, JR, Tiger and a bunch of others just keep the score around par maybe a bit under, and give yourself a chance come the weekend. JS is playing well again and making putts, oh, and he loves this course and outside of 2 Bad swings he would have 2 jackets. Should be fun to see the next 3 days. revkev
This tournament is about keeping your ball in position from tee to green. The guy who controls his irons and keeps them under the hole often wins. That's why Spieth does well there. He's a great iron player. I had a friend, God rest his soul, who was a member at Augusta, he played there a number of times - 2 or 3 times a year for 10 years or so. He would always say it was better to be 150 in the right spot than 15 feet in the wrong spot and that's under “normal†conditions. Sadly he was no longer a member when I knew him. He gave up his membership when he took a golden parachute from work and went to Seminary. At that time he had played 76 of the top 100 courses in the world. Great guy, was always very kind to me, took me to several great courses in the Midwest to play including Murfield Village. My favorite story was about his playing the Murfield. He went out in 37 and then turned back into the wind. Shot a smooth 50 on the back. To Wayne (he says, holding his scotch and downing it before going to bed). TSauer
There are only two pros I'd rather not see win, I'm happy for any of the others win they win. Sergio is my least favorite touring pro, but I even felt bad for him. In 53 years playing golf, I've never seen anyone, even the worst duffer, who's ever put more than 2-3 balls in the same water hazard, more than one consecutive has been rare IME. Augusta is way hard, but 5 times for a big name pro. How? What Sergio did on his sixth try is what normal players do on their second try... Who's the second? 00sportsman
I'm sure you all know more about the game and the hole than me but after the second didn't stick, wouldn't it be time to try something different? Maybe stick it in the bunker so it doesn't run off the green again? I'm not sure how tight things are with patrons and so forth, but there's got to be someplace to land that where you don't have anywhere near the risk of it backing up off the green. I'm legitimately asking the question, why? I always try to remember that I'm not good enough to get mad!
