StrokerAce
Always fun to read these answers.... https://www.golf.com/news/features/2019/10/31/anonymous-pro-survey-pga-tour-tiger-trump-cheating/ Quote It’s baaaack…and it’s a doozy. For this year’s edition of our always-revealing GOLF.com Anonymous Pro Survey, we protected the identity of 52 card-carrying PGA Tour players so they could speak candidly about the hottest topics of the day. In return, they gave us their unfettered takes on everything from Tiger Woods (yes, he’ll win more majors) and Donald Trump (still popular), to driver testing (inadequate), backstopping (is it cheating?), best and worst Tour venues (sorry, TPC San Antonio), and favorite and least favorite playing partners (scroll down!). They even told us who is the most famous person in their contacts (looking at you, MJ). Polling was conducted at the Safeway Open, in September. Over two days, we asked each player 46 questions. Among the respondents: 30 Tour winners, three major winners and 15 players who have made a Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup team. The mic is now theirs… WHICH TOURNAMENT IS HARDER TO WIN? GolfSpy MPR
Lots of interesting questions. The one that jumped out at me: I guess I'm kinda stunned by the 4% for Wolff. I'm no physiologist, but I think there's something to be said for the idea that his big front heel left reducing strain on his back. I feel like if Trinity Forest were built in 1914 rather than 2014, it would be iconic. But being built in 2014 on top of an abandoned landfill makes it something of a mockery. The same can be said for Liberty National! On the flip side, if some ancient courses were built today, they would be widely criticized. DrMJG
I, for one, agree there needs to be a bit more significant rough. A number of matches this past year favored distance so much more over dealing with the full nature of the course, they became somewhat boring to watch.. And, more than a few had "rough" not much more challenging than the fairway, at least from a viewer's perspective. No trickery, trees (minimal trees)... beautiful.I can think of this one tree that should be gone.....:)Seriously I think there’s a time and a place for differing designs. The design works best when it fits the place IMO. Pebble has some so so holes on it but it fits. So does the Old Course which is actually quite stupid in Orlando - Sawgrass however works great in FL - it would be ridiculous in the Midwest where rolling designs carved through the trees are wonderful. As a fan and I’d think as a player I’d like to see more variation in design and course set up, particularly the latter - Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Mr. 82 and Shankster 2 Quote Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60 Aldila R flex - 42.25 inches SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft Ping G410 7, 9 wood Alta 65 R flex Srixon ZX5 MK II 5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex India 52,56 (60 pending) UST recoil 75's R flex Evon roll ER 5 32 inches It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

I am a bit surprised by the 4% as well. Which tour pro was it that said "soon you will have tour pros hidding in the woods trying to swing like Wolff". I think it was Max Homa. Regardless, I am excited for the young crop of players. They all seem to be unique and less cookie cutter tour pro. Swings are individual. Going to be a fun few years as these guys mature. Granted, I was playing in a tournament with young bucs who were outdriving me easily by 50 yards, making the distance not so much of a big deal. But with the insanity of the undulating greens there, me having 4 and 5 iron into every par 4 just made it impossible to score or have a prayer. And the one hole that (I think) mimmicks the Road Hole was just beyond ridiculous to me. Long par 4 dogleg right with the wind in your face, with a berm in front of the green, where the green itself is about the size of my walk in closet, was just the dumbest designed hole ever. I'm not going to try and hit 4 iron into that green, where anything buy a perfect shot is rejected by that green, with nowhere to bail out to. I mean, come on. I might return to play that course some day, but it sure as heck won't be from 6,700 yards. Anything more than 6,000 yards on that course is just insanity, no matter how far you hit it. I thought it was interesting that Augusta was not ranked higher. Two reasons IMO - first not everyone polled has gotten to play it - at least in competition and second its not a particularly fair course any more. I’m sure Sixcat would agree with the number of TPC courses listed among the favorites. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Rivera is a course worthy of a PGA championship or US Open. Sadly the property is just too small for such an event these days and will never be considered.
