azstu324
1 hour ago, Shrek74 said: New wedges? What? Do tell. Oh... Ummm.. nothing Jk It's being discussed on the Maltby forum that in the next few months a whole new extensive wedge line is going to drop. Different grind options, DBM finish available, and I believe the standard option is the same Satin finish as the TS4, TE+, and IM. Brit has stated that it's the best wedge they've ever released. I want to say they've dropped some Easter eggs in the catalog and there are some pics floating around but I can't find them. This is from Britt on the forum No real updates yet, except for that the final production samples are suppose to be here in August. If we approve those, they will go into production. 16 loft, bounce options in several grinds. We added one loft we didn’t have before when I stated 15 options. The A grind will have some lofts available in LH. Pearl chrome finish on all options and DBM on all but the W grind (wide sole / glider type option). So the G grind options are GAP lofts 48,50,52 with traditional soles and bounces. The S grind is the more relieved grind, the better player grind, the neutral to firmer turf condition grind. The A grind is the all purpose grind that is neutral to softer conditions, but really is all purpose and should be the most versatile. The W grind is the wide sole grind. Very excited about them and I believe the best wedges we have done. I have been testing all summer and I think they are as good as anything available. LeftyHawk
Well, finally had a chance to play 18 yesterday. A quick recap, I quit about 2 years ago due to back issues. Sold all my golf gear. First part of June this year I couldn't set still any longer and decided to return to golf. I also decided to go with Maltby clubs instead of any big name. My current setup is Cobra Bio Amp driver. Maltby 5,8 and PW. Cleveland putter. That's it! After a train wreck on the first hole (shot an 8 )things came together in a better way. Long story short I shot a 90 after being off 2 years. I really surprised myself being able to par the 5's with my setup. So, it's a start, I will probably ad 1 or 2 more clubs, but it was awesome getting back out there! I gotta say the Maltby clubs are fantastic and I truly wish I had made this switch decades ago. These clubs are by far batter than anything I played in the past. Hawk. As someone who had never built anything until Maltby, I will say a little Googling goes a long way, as well as looking around this thread, actually. The biggest things I had to buy (that I didn't have) was epoxy, a vice (which you probably already have), acetone, a pipe cutter (for cutting non-graphite shafts) (I've since paid the $5/shaft to have the shafts cut and prepped by GolfWorks - well worth it in my opinion), and then all the actual club-related stuff (heads/ shafts / ferrules, etc). It's WAY easier than you think, I'll say that - I ended up building a set of TS1-IM'S for my buddy this year, and they turned out great. Poke around - you can search this thread and there's a club building thread as well. Good luck! If you are slightly mechanical you will be fine. There are tons of threads on club building on this site. GolfWorks has tech articles that will help. Jeff Summit at Hireko Golf has a full tech section. Most important, the membership here is really helpful. Reach out and we will help out. I would suggest going to the Diamond Tour Golf and Value golf websites and ordering one or 2 of the cheapest heads, shafts, and components and building a “first time” club/clubs. Start with steel shafts and irons as they are easy and forgiving. You can pull them apart without a shaft extractor and practice. Shrek74
I have an interesting observation to share with my Maltby FW Woods & Hybrid, when it comes to swing weight. So I just picked up this SW scale as a belated B-Day present since it's been out of stock till this week (that's a shaft puller in the plastic I picked up too). So after swing weighting my current bag, I grabbed my Maltby clubs to see how they were built. Needless to say I was a bit surprised. 3 wood: C8.7 ish 5 wood: C7.5 ish 7 wood: C3.5 ish 5 hybrid: D4.4 ish Not exactly what I was expecting. It's obvious they didn't do any SW work when they assembled them, so now I'm going to have to order some of the screws for the heads to try and get the SW where I'd prefer them to be. I just need to figure out how much each head needs to add with those screws/weights. Just a bit disappointed with what appears to be an assembly without any regards to SW. Just another reason I'm glad that I'm finally ready to work on clubs on my own. So.. if you're not too concerned with "conformity", an easy solution is to pick up a bag of poly fill at your local Michaels/Hobby lobby/Joanne's and stuff it in the head. It expands to fill the entire space so you don't have anything moving around inside and it's a good uniform weight distribution. It also helps dull the acoustics a bit and doesn't impact performance. That's what I did with my 7 wood and PXG 3 wood. It can also easily be removed. Just a thought for either a temporary or even permanent solution. That's what I did with my 7 wood and PXG 3 wood. It can also easily be removed. Just a thought for either a temporary or even permanent solution. I can "fix" 2 of them with new weight screws - dropping the D4.5 to D1.5, and raising the C8.7 to D1.7. A third would be about 80% fixed with a weight screw, raising from C7.5 to about D0.5. It's the 7 wood that's at C3.5 and there isn't a weight big enough for that as it would only get to about C6.5. I may have to think about the poly fill option or get some lead tape. Other option is to remove all of the adapters and put in tip weights for the ones I can and then combo tip & head weights for that 7 wood. I'll see how I want to proceed, but appreciate the suggestion. sl1111, GolfSpy SAM and IndyBonzo 3 Quote Driver: STMax 230 10.5*, Stiff HZRDUS Smoke Blue RDX, 60g Fairways: 949x 3w / 5w, 15* / 18*, Stiff HZRDUS Smoke Red RDX, 70g Hybrids: 939x 4h, 21*, Stiff HZRDUS Smoke Red RDX, 80g Hybrid Irons: JPX923 Hot Metal Pro, 5-GW, UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Wedges: S23, 54* & 60*, UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Putter: Moment X Tour @ 35" & 71*, Super Stroke Pistol GT 2.0, White/Red Ball: Tour CG Technology: Anarch Rangefinder, V5 w/ Tags Shot Tracking. https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/65161-vortex-optics-rangefinders-2024-member-test/?do=findComment&comment=1089247 https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/66852-unofficial-review-tpi-virtual-assessment https://forum.mygolfspy.com/classifieds/ - DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE CLASSIFIEDS!!! Shrek74
For all you fans of black irons, this is from the Maltby Forum: Jim Yachinich397 Posted 2 days ago We are bringing in some samples with the black finish to see how they look and will make a decision at that time. If we do them it will likely be the end of this year or first of next year before we have them. TS3's in black? Hmmm. azstu324, GolfSpy SAM and IndyBonzo 3 Quote Driver: STMax 230 10.5*, Stiff HZRDUS Smoke Blue RDX, 60g Fairways: 949x 3w / 5w, 15* / 18*, Stiff HZRDUS Smoke Red RDX, 70g Hybrids: 939x 4h, 21*, Stiff HZRDUS Smoke Red RDX, 80g Hybrid Irons: JPX923 Hot Metal Pro, 5-GW, UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Wedges: S23, 54* & 60*, UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Putter: Moment X Tour @ 35" & 71*, Super Stroke Pistol GT 2.0, White/Red Ball: Tour CG Technology: Anarch Rangefinder, V5 w/ Tags Shot Tracking. https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/65161-vortex-optics-rangefinders-2024-member-test/?do=findComment&comment=1089247 https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/66852-unofficial-review-tpi-virtual-assessment https://forum.mygolfspy.com/classifieds/ - DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE CLASSIFIEDS!!! Down here thats what we call stuff thats applied to holes or cracks in the walls, and sets hard to be sanded back and painted. can be applied as a paste or sometimes in an aerosol can that expands to fill gaps. Not sure if thats ideal as it might shrink overtime and break up Edited August 25 by theblake7 Michael.Sandoval33
RyanGi
Who owns TC Tour hybrids? Could you comment on them? Maybe give some comparisons? I’m looking to update my old hybrids and am a fan of Maltby, but can find a ton of reviews on the hybrids. As of now, they’re not listed on the website. I read they’re going to be restocked in October.
