fixyurdivot
Color me old school and nostalgic, but I'm a long time soldier in Arnie's Army, who loves seeing the most iconic umbrella in golf... if not the world! I miss Arnold Palmer, he was my childhood golfing hero . I remember rooting for him against that big old bad Nicklaus guy... funny the things that stick in one's mind. The tour heads north to Orlando, FL and Bay Hill CC. Back when this course opened (1961) it was in the middle of absolutely Nowhere, Florida. Designed by Dick Wilson and Bob Simmons, it was regarded by some as a "just what are you thinking" idea. Most recently redesigned by Palmer in 2009, extending length to 7381 yards and repositioning many bunkers, it replaced the Florida Citrus Open in 1979 and is among a favorite tour stop. Bryson is in the field and purportedly ready to defend his title. I should be a fun event and I'm guessing we'll see another first time tour winner as we just did at the Honda Classic. Don't forget to pick your player in the pool https://runmypools.com/JRMPNWWF. Bomber
Awesome event at another relatively tough track. Some great players in the field, albeit not entirely stacked. Rory with an incredible record here but going with Hovland who is so hot right now. Long shot would be Mav McNealy. fixyurdivot and tony@CIC

I found this article interesting. A survey in 1978 of 581 courses found the average to be 6.5. In 2016, another survey of metropolitan courses averaged 11. It describes the reason as a paradigm shift in "maintenance practices and grass varieties". The Stimpmeter was invented in the 1930's but not adopted as a standard by the USGA until the 70's. Speed being such an elixir to us homosapiens, is it a mere coincidence that green speeds started increasing about the same time? And, like so many things, we have an innate need to test the limits... anyone else want to see them playing Stimpmeter = 20?
