KC Golf
Wow. In less than a day we have gotten a lot of responses. Thank you to everyone who has responded so far. I really appreciate everyone's input so far. The comments are all great. But a couple of surprises have come out from the group so far. I am surprised by how may people have mentioned the 5 iron. Its interesting since I would think more people would say 4 iron or a 3FW. since they are usually harder to hit. I believe its because many of the respondents in the group its their longest iron in the bag. Surprised by how many people carry 58+ deg wedges in their bag. Also how many rarely hit their low lofted hybrids. Sadly no one has said Putter yet... My favourite comment so far... is this one! 9 hours ago, Andrew75 said: I carry 10 to 11 clubs, even for tournament play, and I use them all, frequently enough. 5 handicap, walk/carry, superlight bag, hilly course, age 62, cancer survivor, it's about health and fun more than every advantage. Franc38
There are 2 clubs in my bag that are not very often used, for different reasons. The first one is the "3 hybrid" (21°). I don't find it accurate enough to attack greens with and find that statistically 230 yards from the flag I'm better off hitting a 4 iron 215 on the fairway in front of the green and then chipping than sending the hybrid somewhere and having a few eagle opportunities and a lot of recovery shots from unwelcoming places! So yeah, second shot on very long par 5s where I'll lay up but the 4 wood bring some danger into play?? Not frequent. The second one is the 6 iron. The only reason for it not to be used often? I don't play courses where there are 185-190 yards par 3s, or have long enough par 4s (or short enough par 5s) that I'll use it for second shot. Now, obviously I might misshit my tee shot and need a 188 yard attack to the green occasionally, but well... not often. and that's with a 13 club bag! TylorJudd
For me, it's definitely the 56 degree wedge. Technically 54 for me I guess but ya, its my least used for specific shots. JeffK
None, I use them all equally. My club has 36 holes so whilst I may not use ll the clubs on one course I use them all over the 2 courses. Took me a while to get my club setup right. Dropped my hybrid for a 4th wedge (54 deg) then my 3W for a 5th wedge (50 deg) over the space of a couple of years. I couldn't hit my hybrid that well and once I upgraded my irons it only went as far as my 4 iron. I use my 2 iron off the tee so I rarely used my 3W, so it made sense to take it out and replace it with a scoring club. C92673
Not sure what math you're using to get that number of putts but I wish my putting was that good, it's my weakest link and it's actually a lot closer to 39 putts a round. Unfortunately I'd have to go in and add up the putts for each round to get an actual total. GolfSpy TCB

kylebennett006
It used to be my 60*. When I first got it, I just couldn't hit it right to get the feel I first experienced during the fitting. But through practice and resistance to giving up on it, I started to get the right feel for the various shots you can perform with it and now it's my go-to 90-100yd club. Or my need-to-carry a hazard club. Or my short-sided club. Flop-club. Once you figure out the 60*, it's insane how versatile it is. Then it became my 3W. I actually have a post around here considering removing it from my bag. But this fall a couple buddies and I joined a simulator league and I have found a somewhat rekindled appreciation for it. I think being able to hit off a perfect lie and in perfect conditions, you start to get the feel for how it needs to be swung and you gain confidence. For me, I'm long enough off the tee that I rarely have to use it as an off-the-turf approach club. It's basically a secondary driver that aims to lower the risk given my trajectory and hole layout. Considering my home course complex and that I don't play the tips, this is highly valuable to me. So I'm finally to the point where I appreciate, use, and value all 14 clubs. Probably use the 3W the least often but that's primarily because of where my league plays. 202 and GolfSpy TCB 2 Quote Z785 9.5° | M5 3W | Sq Dymo^2 5W (just can't quit you) | P790 4-AW | RTX 4 56/60° | THEE White Hot OG Rossie (2006) Ball: Maxfli Tour X
