Popular Post fredsharky
I hit the Trackman today so that I could really see the numbers as I am super impressed with this golf ball so far. I wanted to test against the other balls that I use off and on (ProV1, Z-Star and Vice Pro). I hit several balls from each brand to get warmed up and then once I was really nice and toasty I wanted to do as close to an apples to apples as possible. I hit three balls from each brand and took the average. I also just took a subset of clubs and not the whole bag (Driver, 5 wood, 6 and 8 iron, PW, 54 and 58 wedge) and just tried to hit at 90% club speed (I actually did a very good at this, surprisingly) One thing with numbers and golf balls is that everyone is different so take these numbers with a grain of salt, as to me the ball on the course is what really matters.. GolfSpy_BEN
Haven’t been able to get them out on the course yet, but I’ve got a half-dozen SIM rounds on one of these ODIN X1 balls and it shows no scuffing or distance loss. Others have mentioned it, but I really like the feeling of these balls off of the putter as well. All in all, I may have found a new gamer. We shall see. Popular Post fredsharky
12/17/23 Played in my Sunday cash game today with the Odin X1 ball. It was very windy and way cooler than it was supposed to be. The front 9 left a lot to be desired as I could not get out of my own way. Made several bad swings to end with a 43. Luckily around hole 7 I started to warm up and on the back 9 shot even par, 3 bogies and 3 birdies.. Now to the ball and the performance - again I am still really impressed with it, I have not seen anything as if yet that would keep anyone away from it. Even though playing in the wind is not ideal, testing a new golf ball in the wind is. The ball flight off the driver for me is very ProV1’ish, does ot seem to balloon and I am able to keep it down. It is really easy to work the ball into the wind with a nice cut and hold it there. Wedge play again and again for me with this ball is great, I can spin it when needed and run it out when needed (I use a 58 99.9% of the time). The ball is very nice off the putter face as well, rolls true. The durability is still holding up - 2 rounds with the same ball and did hit one tree and a tree branch (again testing durability) and I now have one small scuff mark. More testing to come over the holidays GolfSpy_KFT, Josh Parker, Shrek74 and 7 others 8 1 1 Quote Driver 1: Stealth 12 degree - Ventus Red 5-S Driver 2: 300 Mini Hzrdus Smoke Yellow 60G Stiff (tipped to 44.5inch) 3 Wood 2: Sim2 Max Fujikura Pro 65-S (higher ball flight) 5 Wood: Stealth Ventus Black 6-S 9 Wood: Stealth Ventus Red 5-R Irons: King Tour 2023 - Fujikura Pro 95 Stiff - 6-9 - Fitted Wedges: SM9 - 45-10F, 48-10F Wedges: RTX 6 - 52-Mid/10, 58-Mid/10 Putter: HB SOFT Milled 10.5S - Fitted Balls - X1

It’s the holiday season so something easy. You have had the balls for about a week now and I’m sure have hit quite a few shots already. So my question for this week(by all means take the whole week too if you wish to give a detailed answer), is this… How does this ball react on the green with the wedge? Break it down between short chips, 1/2-3/4 swings, and full swings for our members that may be looking for a new ball next year. I definitely do not need a week for this question as I have already been working on the write up - this is right in my wheelhouse, as I have been really putting this ball through the paces with my wedges. Here is a break down Chipping/Pitching: Vokey 58/12 D The ball has a soft feel off the face and sounds nice - nothing out of the ordinary Shots hit: 30 each - 3 balls 10 FT Fringe Chip - Putter style - very soft feel, easy to run out or to spin 20 FT Fringe Chip low runner - ran out very well 20 FT Fringe Chip spinner - ball would spin very well around the green - has zero issues spinning 20 YD pitch low runner - I was not able to run the ball out as I usually do - the ball spun a little more than normal 20 YD pitch spinner - easily spun the ball 50/70 YDS: Vokey 58/12 D Shots hit: 120 each yardage - 3 balls 50 YDS - the ball was easily spun from this yardage, I was able to hit several different types of shots, from low spinner, normal shot, higher flight shot. 10 FT ring on green - out of 120 balls I got 47 in side the ring and probably about 10 or 11 just outside 70 YDS - again the ball was easily spun on the greens - again able to hit several types of shots without issue. 20 FT ring on green - out of 120 balls I got 42 in side the ring 90/110 YDS: Vokey 54/12 D Shots hit: 120 each yardage - 3 balls 90 YDS - sounding like a broken record but again easily spun and easily hit, was able to put my right hand spin on it almost automatically - put my 20 FT ring on there and was please with 41 110 YDS - again no issues with this yardage as well - again with the 20 FT ring 38 balls in it and several very close to it - again able to get my right hand spin very easily. Wedge Conclusion: 10/10 This ball has been perfect so far as I have not been able to find anything that would say otherwise. I am using the same three balls for all chipping/putting/sand/fairway/driver to test durability. So far I have hit these balls about 630 times (210 per ball) and I see very little to no wear.. I have also played two rounds with this ball and it has performed flawlessly - every shot that I have needed to hit (and make a good swing) it has performed. I would definitely say this is a good gamer ball for wedges Here are the numbers from the Trackman as well - again these numbers are from 90% full swings GolfSpy_SHARK, Shrek74, TJ Hall and 8 others 7 4 Quote Driver 1: Stealth 12 degree - Ventus Red 5-S Driver 2: 300 Mini Hzrdus Smoke Yellow 60G Stiff (tipped to 44.5inch) 3 Wood 2: Sim2 Max Fujikura Pro 65-S (higher ball flight) 5 Wood: Stealth Ventus Black 6-S 9 Wood: Stealth Ventus Red 5-R Irons: King Tour 2023 - Fujikura Pro 95 Stiff - 6-9 - Fitted Wedges: SM9 - 45-10F, 48-10F Wedges: RTX 6 - 52-Mid/10, 58-Mid/10 Putter: HB SOFT Milled 10.5S - Fitted Balls - X1

Popular Post GolfSpy SAM
Got out to play a round this past Friday, and used the Odin balls, and as others have echoed, there's really only one takeaway: the ball is legit. Soft off the putter (my preferred feel) and wedges, excellent spin (but not excessive), and a great sound/feel off driver. I was also playing in gusts of up to 30mph, and other than one shot (that was user error - way too much cut spin), the balls did exactly what I was hoping to see - held true to line and allowed me to pick a point knowing that the wind would guide them home. Trickiest one, by far, was a downhill 180 yard par-three that plays 160 normally, but the wind was blowing into and across, right to left. Hit 6 iron (my normal 180 club), aiming at the bunker off the right of the green, and the ball drifted beautifully to the left edge of the green, just past pin-high. Two-putt par made easy work out of what could have been a really tough hole. I can honestly say I wasn't a huge fan of the over-large logo when I first got the balls, but it REALLY makes identifying my ball a lot easier - there's literally no other ball on the market like it, lol. Took a couple of "glamour" shots on a par 3 where we were waiting for the group in front of us. (first shot is the 55 yard chip that took a peek in the hole on its way by - one of two tap-in birds on the day) Rob Person, Big C, GolfSpy_SHARK and 9 others 7 5 Quote Driver - PXG 0811 XF - Gen 5, 9 degrees (+1 setting), Oban Devotion TR 65 04 3/5 Wood - Cobra LTDx Max (Blue Colorway) Utility - Caley X01 Driving Iron (3 = 18*) Irons (5-PW) - Caley 01T Wedges (48, 52, 56, 60) - Indi Wedges FLX 48 / ATK 52, 56, 60 Putter - L.A.B. Jordan ODIN Golf
On 12/12/2023 at 10:40 AM, LinksgolfFever said: Welcome to my official MGS review for Odin golf balls. Thank you MGS and Odin golf balls for the opportunity. (a few friends that missed the cut on Thanksgiving....) About Me: I am from Santa Cruz, CA and my family has been here since 1910. I grew up playing everything but golf. I never saw the allure of golf. After high school I enlisted in the Army and that was my plan. After a traumatic knee injury cut my service time short, I returned to Santa Cruz and was looking for my next life story to write. A couple of weeks later my Grandfather was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and was not expected to make it 6 months. He asked me to go out and play golf with him, my dad and uncles. Of course I said yes, but wasn’t expecting to enjoy the golf just my time with him… Totally not the case. I WAS HOOKED! I got a job a local course in the cart shed and started playing as much as I could. Two years later ,I was playing on the golf team at college. Playing competitively for the next few years. Then it was time to get a real job, got married and life happened, not very much time for golf. Fast forward to 2015 and while on vacation in Maui, my love for golf was rekindled. More life changes and my wife Anna and I met. We have two boys at home with us and for the next 2 months they are the same age. (9 months difference between them). Anna and I got married last year and for our honeymoon we went to Ireland and Scotland. She is totally supportive of my golf, so much so that when I broached the idea of taking my clubs on our honeymoon she didn’t even pause when she said “you should absolutely do that.” While in Scotland we stayed at Carnoustie and I played three rounds there. She came out and walked with me and kept remarking how beautiful it was and even recognized some of the course from seeing the Open championship. I am playing 2-3 days a week currently with 1-2 days of practice. I play competitively whenever possible, this year I played in the NCGA matchplay tournament and made it to the group of 8 before a bad round, and a great competitor ended my run....until next year. Plans for testing: ● The testing plans are 10+ rounds of golf, multiple putting green/chip and pitch practice sessions. I will be comparing the my results against my current ball of choice Srixon Z-star. ● The review and comparison will be based on feel, responsiveness, wear and sound. ● The litmus test is how well this stacks up to the Srixon. Feel, distance, spin, dispersion? From a price point and what I've researched it is a contender for sure. ● This will be a keeper if it plays comparably to the Srixon. ● This is a great addition to the DTC market, comparisons to Pro-V1 and the like. 3 piece urethane cover. Great price point with subscription benefits. ● I expect that the product will be very similar to the Srixon, from the data comparisons I've read they should perform similarly. The Arrival: They've landed!!! Tuesday the balls arrived. Great looking packaging !!! 1st Round with ODIN: The balls arrived yesterday, and it was off to the course this morning. Arriving early only to realize my wallet was still on my dresser(thankfully the course is about 8 minutes away from my house....). Super cold (for California) not comparing to my brethren on the east coast, but it's all relative right? Round start 7am @ 36ºF. Ball felt great off the driver. Mid-irons had an interesting click noise on impact, not sure if this was the cold but will find out with some hopefully warmer rounds in the near future. Wedge play was responsive, I don't get a lot of spin normally but the ball checked at least as well as the Srixon. (assuming comparable contact, etc.). Spin rates seemed to be right in-line with the Srixon (Driver, Irons, Wedges). Feel while putting was my biggest worry, but that was answered on the 1st hole. Post round ball was in great shape, no marring or discoloration. Short game session Friday 12/15: Putting and chipping today. I am very pleased with this ball so far, it has met my expectations and performed in lock step with the Srixon Z-star. 50 putts rolled each ball at varied distances, ODIN tracked well and felt great off the club face (Scotty Cameron Super Select Newport 2+). 1st round of chipping went really well, getting appropriate spin (when proper contact is made, LOL). Next week, I will have a more regimented test for chipping/pitching against the Srixon. Round 2 12/16: 6:50 Tee time, 1st group out. ODIN feels great again today. My round was less than stellar(my game ), not the ball. Off the tee ball flight and dispersion was very impressive. Today I did some head to head comps. against the Z-Star. ODIN averaged 6-12 yards better compared to the Z-star. 10 tee shots repeated on the par 4's (playing the 1st ball (Odin), hitting Srixon second. Dropping 2 attempts where either ball wasn't struck similarly enough (I'm not a robot...). Best hole No. 9 was playing just under 330 today. Driver/ flip lob wedge (ODIN) 288 off the tee, 40 yard approach. Driver/half lob wedge (Srixon) 273 off the tee, 55 yard approach. The greens are entering the winter stage (a little firmer and a lot faster). On the 18th hole, the last 30 yards of the fairway is a slight downslope to the green and the green slopes front to back. I usually hit into this green 1 club up from what the distance suggests because of the downslope. Today, using that same methodology I ended up 10 yards short of the flag. The spin generated with Odin checked well and only released about 6 feet. This is great as the green in this section drops about 4" every 10'. After 2 rounds of golf and a lot of practicing the ball is holding up quite well. More rounds and practice to follow shortly. Odin has been very impressive thus far. Looked like a blast out there! Thanks again for reporting back, enjoy for me! OdinSnipes414 and Rob Person 2 Quote Co-founder @ ODIN Golf [email protected] Go Balls Out. Always! Obviously, the depth of snow has to be 3/4 " or less. It's also a great way to see your swing path in the impact area. Make sure not to take a divot. That hurts on frozen ground. I am thankful to be chosen for such an opportunity as this to test these ODIN X1 golf balls! Thank you to those at ODIN for offering this opportunity to the forum! My name is Matt. I am happily married going on 18 years. I have three daughters, 16, 14, and 12. Hence the handle, Girldad, their idea... Golf has been part of my life for over 35 years. I played in college at Francis Marion University in Florence, SC and we were fortunate enough to win the 2003 NCAA Division II National Championships in Crosswater, Oregon. This led to me being inducted into the schools Hall of Fame in 2018. This year we had our 20th anniversary meet up as we consisted of two Swedish players, one South African, and one from Argentina. Also, I was fortunate enough to go to L.A. to see the U.S. Open. While there we played Trump National. This is shot from the back tee on 18, a 500+ yard par 4, that played into the wind. Too much for a 42 year old office manager. teeing off movie.MOV 12.84 MB · 0 downloads I currently reside in Northwest Arkansas, home of the Razorback! I play as much as I can, but not as much as I would like. I carry a scratch handicap and have played most of the high end, more popular, golf balls. I mainly look for a deal, but if it comes to competition, the ProV1X is the go-to. I do play the ProV1 as well but do notice a considerable spin difference on approach shots, especially with wedges in hand. UNBOXING/FIRST IMPRESSIONS The ODIN's arrived in a white packing bag. No damage, no issues. The colors on the box are eye catching and honestly, I expected those colors to reflect on the ball, kind of in the same way as the VICE. My daughter even said the same thing, that she thought they would have the colors on them too. The ODIN feels the same as any other high end ball would feel in your hand. The writing, ODIN and the number, are noticeably larger that usual. That is not a bad thing. Makes it stand out. Also could make it easier to identify when playing with your buddies. I am interested to see how the arrows on the side help with alignment. I draw a line for putting alignment there, so I will definitely test this to see how it plays with my mindset and ease of use as the test goes on. I will run these through the testing process. I am heading east for Christmas and plan to get a few rounds in with my dad while there. We will see how it goes and will take you along for the ride. Stay tuned.... Hey @Girldad18 - what a great story! Thanks for being a big supporter in the community here, it's awesome having you be part of the testing crew. Excited to hear how the test drive goes, thanks again and enjoy the fam time for the holidays! And great feedback/suggestion on the paint splatter, since the beginning we always had a paint splatter ball on the roadmap, hope to make it there day Girldad18, Rob Person and Cfhandyman 3 Quote Co-founder @ ODIN Golf [email protected] Go Balls Out. Also did a one shot from each ball to a 100 yd pin ProV1 Odin X1 Vice Pro Z-Star Hey @fredsharky - lookin good! Thanks for passing along all the great feedback, we really appreciate it. Jordan ODIN Golf
2 hours ago, GolfSpy SAM said: Got out to play a round this past Friday, and used the Odin balls, and as others have echoed, there's really only one takeaway: the ball is legit. (first shot is the 55 yard chip that took a peek in the hole on its way by - one of two tap-in birds on the day) What a day out on the track for the @GolfSpy SAM! Thanks for the great feedback, we really appreciate all the support. Diggin the pics too! Rob Person, GolfSpy SAM and Josh Parker 3 Quote Co-founder @ ODIN Golf [email protected] Go Balls Out.
