Just noticed this as found it funny... I have plans for a new shed/detached garaged in progress. Once the test was announced I re-did the drawings with 10ft walls and a higher pitch for cathedral type ceilings. Basically, I decided to make enough room for a full-blown sim bay at the house. planning to break ground next spring/early summer to have it set for winter 2026!

Love it! I might be in a similar predicament. My detached shed is the perfect spot, except it's got gravel floors. It's pretty much a pole barn. I've kept telling myself I don't need concrete poured and electric ran to it and everything else, but I think I may finally break down and do it. We shall see! I can say I'm the closest I've ever been to pulling the trigger on it.

Putting a hitting bay on my garage has been amazing. I've been able to work on so many things since getting back into golf last year. It's so nice to be able to just got a few shots to try things out I've been thinking about and coupled with my lessons, my game has dramatically improved over the last 18 months. When I started playing again, I was scoring about 115-120 but I'm starting to occasionally break 100 which I thought I'd never do.

It's really an easy project. The toughest thing for me was purging a bunch of crap out of the garage to make the space for it.

The season I'm approaching now is when it starts to slow down for me, I think it's because a lot of people I golf with it also slows down for them so nobody has that urge to go play and hobbies swap. I usually take the winter off and then come back in the spring and see how much of my swing I remember. Being able to hit over the winter is going to be a game changer. I'm really, really hoping to dial in my short game!

That's kinda where I'm at. My garage was so full of stuff from holiday decor to toys to just random items that belonged elsewhere. After cleaning it almost all the way out, I realized just how much room I actually have. I just wish my ceilings were a foot taller.

I was worried about my ceiling height also since they're just 8' but it hasn't been an issue. I'm barely over 5'10"and the only time I had an issue was with the garage door opener on my follow through. I re-positioned things a tad and I can do full swings with my driver now.

As far as clearing space, I actually cut a hole in my garage wall and framed in a door to gain access to the empty space under the stairs in the house. I ended up putting all my Xmas, Halloween and camping stuff in there.

Mine are a hair over 9' but I'm also 6'6" lol. I've swung my orange whip in there, which is about as long as my driver, and didn't have any issues. But I know I won't swing as freely with my driver. I may give it a test run soon, though.

There's will definitely be some hesitation. Sure to weather, one of my lessons got moved into my garage. We tested a few things out (one was actually comparing results between his $5k+ launch monitor and the Skytrak... Almost identical numbers) and he watched my swing with my driver. He said the only time I was close was on a full follow through. I do have an unfinished follow through (think Roy McElroy from Tin Cup).

There are too many things in my garage that can’t be purged like a miter saw station.  I do have a high ceiling that clears for swings but need a drop-down bay so the garage can be used for parking.  Guess I need to get a little creative when I get a SkyTrak or something similar.

I moved my table saw and band saw into my storage shed because I enjoy golfing more than woodworking lol.

I would look into the Spornia nets. They break down in a couple minutes. You probably could build a platform that folds up against your back wall. Take the side poles out and fold up the whole thing against the wall.

Can confirm. The Spornia SPG-7 is what I have and to go from the garage to outdoors is extremely simple.

Mine are just under 9' and I'm 6' tall I do not trust driver on my follow through... I don't think I could ever get comfortable with it but might have to try. My driver session this past weekend was less than ideal as I tried to set up the net and mat in the grass on the most level part and I think it was impacting the readings from the Skytrack as I couldn't get anything over 20 yards of apex and my distance was way off. I'll have a more detailed write up on that, but I think having everything perfectly setup is key for driver.

9/29 Driver Session

This update is slightly delayed, but I pulled my net and mat outside to try and hit some shots with driver. It didn't net the results I was hoping for. Now, full disclaimer, I think I did not have the Skytrak+ or the mat fully level. I did try to find the flattest most level part of the yard but unfortunately, I don't think it was good enough.

Here was the set up outdoors:

Skytrskdriversetup.jpeg.57afdbae758ef118137d77bdf51a7dc8.jpeg

I had the case leveling pegs fully extended trying to get the unit even with the mat (we keep the grass longer at the end of summer). I now realize this is likely the reason for the bad results.

I couldn't get the max apex over 60 ft which is about 40% less than normal for me. all of the shots were low pull draws, even when the shot felt like a heel cut. I would add that ball speed and club head speed metrics were on point with what I am used to seeing on LM data. The below shot was probably the best of the bunch that I could get close my normal numbers on course. Spin continues to register a little on the low-end. I have been trying out different balls (TP5 Pix, Callaway Truvis, ect..) and ball positions to try and get normal spin numbers.

9.29SkytrakDriver.JPG.b1fb5e72f50c4ada2a14070933586c64.JPG

Next step is going to be setting up the mat and net on the driveway to have a "perfectly" level surface and hit driver there. I think I can get away with driver indoors, but it most definitely will be a hesitated swing, and I think the better data will come when I can swing freely.

Next step is going to be setting up the mat and net on the driveway to have a "perfectly" level surface and hit driver there. I think I can get away with driver indoors, but it most definitely will be a hesitated swing, and I think the better data will come when I can swing freely.

That looks like it took a while to set up.  I appreciate your efforts.  Nice looking grass too!

Honestly the Spornia SPG-7 is a breeze to set up and take down. And more importantly the Skytrak+ is even easier to set up on the fly. This is where the flexibility of going from phone to tablet to PC shines!
