  1. I had a special announcement planned for my 10,000th post. But of course, i saw a topic earlier and fired off a reply before I thought about it. Then i hit a slight delay on the announcement details. So while the special announcement will still come, it’ll have to wait a couple days. But I think everyone will find it worth the wait. In the meantime, thanks to all the members who made this such a welcoming place when i first joined and who have continued to follow along and chide me on my club adventures It’s been an honor to serve on staff for the past three years

  2. First off wanted to thank everyone on this site. This is my 3,000th post. Not everything is golf related and I have really enjoyed coming to MGS and utilizing it similar to other social medias that I have gotten rid of. It is nice to come to this site every day and BS'ing back and forth with everyone. So thank you, cant wait to see was 2021 brings on the site. Background Now off to my fitting. Little background prior to my first fitting at TrueSpec in 2019 I had never been fitted and bought off the shelf. Prior to the fitting I had won a TS2 in a tournament and am still swinging that

  5. The request was, "How do you store your clubs at home?", not "Please post a picture of the entire used club selection at 2nd Swing." As a mod, I like to see threads stay on topic.

  6. I've mentioned before that I work for a major auto manufacturer and one of the perks is killer deals on lease cars. I went yesterday and replaced mine with an Audi Q3. I've been wanting to lease an SUV, but never found one at the right price until recently. Our company was offering major incentives on the Audi brand and I couldn't pass it up. It rides good, looks amazing, and I've just always wanted a digital cockpit. Figuring out the radio was a hassle, but push enough buttons and it works itself out.

  7. I just wanted to make it known that My mom passed this evening. She had Pancreatic Cancer. She survived for six years with it. Her Dr. was ecstatic with her tenacity and drive to beat it. He said she is/was a miracle, and would possibly make into the medical journals for her survival longevity. She was 83. She was a wonderful mother and parent. I'm not looking for sympathy.... all of us have or will go through this. I just felt the need to tell someone.

  8. First full round since the snow finally melted. Took on a well thought of course nearby that I usually overlook because it can be pricey. It was windy and cold but sunny. Good day out working on think box/play box. Also first course I went into with a plan ahead of time after gps flyovering the holes. High score but proud of some good shots out there. Hit 67 percent fairways and had 5 one putts on the back 9. Score was still crazy high @ 121 but I left 19 strokes in bunkers and lost balls. Trusting the process.... 9. Well, that's some compromise; a few hours drive vs 5 hours in a plane and 3 time zones. However, once things settle down, I could be talked into a trip east later in the summer. IMO wife and I are driving to LA in 3 weeks to attend Monte's clinic; 1000 miles. I want to attend his clinic early so I have all summer to screw it up. Only 6 students for 3 days; my wife and I and 4 others. Should be fun.

  11. ... Had a great round today carding a 79. 35 mph winds with gusts to 45. It's one thing to play in those winds in Chicago with soft fairways and quite another on hard fast desert fairways. Straight downwind was awesome and I hit a 322yd drive but my pard hit it 376 yds from the back tees! Into the wind wasn't too bad but the side wind shots were just insane. Started a 7 iron 30 yds left on a par 3 and ended up just over the green and pin hit. On a 110 yd par 3 that is a mushroom with a little flat spot and all sides sloping off and into the rough, I started a 9 iron 10 yds left of the pin with

  14. I don't have a lot of different swing thoughts in general, but on the course I'd say I do things in order. I'll make some kind of rehearsal, a short practice swing, a slow-motion swing, an exaggerated drill, but something with a specific internal focus. But when I get to the ball, its all external focus, thoughts about the target, or visualization of the shot I want to hit.

  15. So I didn't buy it, but my fiancé did for my birthday at my request. I'm getting a new Ping Hoofer Lite to actually make walking more courses a thing this year, and if she starts playing she pay take my push cart. I love her a lot, she's really great. Oh, I guess I also bought the SIK Flo from my putter fitting thread since last I jumped in here as well.

  16. ... I have a playing pard this winter from Chicago. He is 49 and seriously long. I am giving up about 20 years and considerable length. One of the biggest differences between us is when I hit a bad tee shot I am usually in play. His bad tee shots are so long they bring stuff into play I can't reach. We play a short uphill par 4 that requires a 280yd carry over water to drive the green OR a long iron over the right side of the water that is a 220 carry for a LW in OR lay up short of the water leaving 110-120yds to the flag. He hits driver occasionally, 2 iron quite often and hit some spectacula

  19. One of the Seniors in my club asked to try my Cobra Speedzone Extreme today. On the last hole he offered me $20 more than I paid for it. I thought, I have 4 drivers at home....go ahead. So I sold it on the 16th fairway! Then I called PXG and ordered the 0211! Should arrive in a couple weeks.... Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  20. Yesterday’s round was enlightening. We started on the back and I was out of sorts. I played holes 10 through 16 in +7. I knew my perception, particularly regarding alignment, was way off. Starting on 16, I decided to be meticulous in my set up. It worked. I played the last 11 holes in +1. I guess I just needed a reminder that they are called fundamentals for a reason.

  23. Got my new GoPro today and had to brush up on the editing skills a bit before breaking it out for golf-related things. Safe to say I majorly annoyed the dog this afternoon: Going to take a bit of practice with the frame rates and resolution on the GoPro before things get real polished. It's been well over a decade since I've done any video editing outside of iMovie and I'm pretty rusty (using HitFilm Express at the moment).

  24. Another windy day in the Rogue Valley. While the temperature was 60, the wind was cold and the temps dropped significantly during the course of the round, along with a bit of drizzle the last 2 holes. Started off really bad and was 6 over after 6 holes. Played the next 12 holes at 3 over for an 81 for the day.

  25. The oldest club in my bag is my beloved Titleist 818 H2 21*. I have it playing 20* and flat with a Tour AD DI 85x shaft. This hybrid doesn't go left for me. I can hit it high and hit it low. I can even fade it! So of course why not see if I could replace it! I went to my usual Golf Galaxy in Oxford Valley PA this morning with the idea that I was going to try the new Titleist hybrids to see if there was a more optimal fit. I worked with Ben, and he was awesome. Unfortunately they didn't have any X flex hybrid shafts in their fitting cart, but that didn't matter as I wanted to tr

  26. Today's round was all about playing in the wind --- strong winds anywhere from 1-3 clubs --- lots of gusting and differing speeds as you're preparing to hit. Made for an interesting round. In addition to choosing the right club for the distance, the winds were playing havoc on putting. However, I managed to really focus and I'm not unhappy with how my score turned out. Despite dunking 2 balls into the water hazards on 2 separate holes, I managed to shoot an 82. Several putts were definitely adversely affected by the wind and I watched them turn away from the hole when there was no break.

  27. I forgot how to golf... grabbed my 58° yesterday to get a few 25-75 yard shots in. It was like trying to do calculus... I don’t know how to do calculus. Going to be an interesting year if this is how it goes, my handicap might take off like Maverick off an aircraft carrier...

  28. I've looked at the pad and noticed it should be easy to replace by pushing down on the plastic casing and pulling up on the pad. I haven't seen anything that @GolfSpy MPR did about replacing. Also, @B.Boston asked about wear and I thought I'd get a photo of what mine looks like now. Keep in mind, this is probably between 400-600 shots, I've got a problem and am obsessed with grooving ball first contact. I think it's still got a lot of life left in it before needing to be replaced.

  29. I recently got fitted for a new set of Mizuno JPX-921 Tours and thought I'd share the experience, track improvement and give others a review of the irons. December 4th, I was fitted at Fairways and Greens in Knoxville, TN (https://fairwaysandgreens.com) by David Sumilus. They were my closest custom Mizuno fitter and I've always played Mizuno irons going all the way back to some MP-11s I played in high school. This was the first time I've ever been fitted for brand new clubs and if you can afford it I strongly recommend it. For me personally, I have the feeling that my golf game has leveled off

  31. At my club there are a lot of lazy golfers. Hit a ball off line and just leave it. Our grounds crew goes out around 5 am. When they rake the bunkers, mow the greens, rough or fairway, they toss any found balls into the fairway. I'm the first one off on Sunday morning. I pick up the balls and toss them into the basket on the cart. When i finish playing I'll sort them. Someone's name on it goes into the pro shop on the counter. Good high end ball no name in my bag, the rest into the range ball container. I get about 6 to 8 when I play and keep about 2 to 3. Sunday after a Saturday tournment is l

  32. Not directly a golf product, but I purchased a GoPro Hero7 Black today. I had a lot of fun cutting together a handful of holes into short videos last summer, but with Arccos requiring my phone to be in my front pocket I lost my nice camera after switching from ShotScope. I also bought a mounting clip for the GoPro so I can attach to to my push cart as a makeshift tripod. The Hero7 can do 1080p at 240fps which should come in handy on the range for evaluating my swing. We also have a few summer vacations planned, and I've been interested in brushing up on my video editing skills so this was

  36. It never ends... i received my TS2 16.5* on Friday, the 19* and 21* hybrids aren’t coming for another 3 weeks because the shaft is back ordered, and I’m already debating whether to switch out to a 7 wood... Any thoughts you have on the matter would be appreciated. I know you’ve tried a club or two in your day, and from prior conversations I know we hit the ball similar distances...

  39. Was supposed to be in the 60s today, but it probably never got out of the low 50s with lots of clouds and some rain. The course was completely saturated and unless you were on a hill you were standing in casual water. Short game and putting were solid but my full swing was a mess. 41/40:81 4 fairways, 7 greens, 30 putts.

  40. Most Wanted and Forum Testing are two totally different entities and really serve two different audiences. Most Wanted is to help the average consumer who usually buys off the rack without getting fit, to have an idea of what drivers performed the best over a large range of testers. Forum Testing is targeted obviously to our Forum readers who are more likely interested in details of how a particular driver worked for someone that may have similar swing DNA to them, over a period of 4-6 weeks which likely includes several rounds and range sessions. It also allows t

  45. ... We all have our excuses. If I start posting scores my index will jump about 3-4 strokes. These muni Bermuda greens are just brutal. I love the course but the greens are hard to read to begin with and they wander on short putts or when the ball slows down around the hole because using a very technical term, the grass is splotchy. I have never missed so many 2-4 footers that start on line then move one way or the other several times on it's journey like putting on a Chinese Checkerboard. After holing out we sometimes hit multiple putts from the same spot and they never do the same thing t
