What are the advantages (other than to get putts and chips) of having sensors on all clubs? I can use rewards from Best Buy to get the sensors and watch for less than the price of the watch. Wondering if that is overkill. Sorry if I’m being a pain in the ___.  But it is in my Spy name…😂

One advantage would be that you don't have to select which club you've hit after each shot and it should improve accuracy as well.

I would say Josh is right about not selecting the clubs after each shot being one of the main differences.  I have not used the Garmin tags, so I am not sure how reliable they are. I've read some reviews and they seem to miss shots from time to time like most of theses sensors do.  For me, selecting the club after each shot is not a problem at all. In fact, I actually prefer it because it has basically eliminated the post round editing I use to do with my ShotScope.

I think the biggest advantage of the sensors is having access to the putting and chipping data that they would provide.

That being said, if you do go with the sensors, please let us know what you think. I may pick up a set myself if you have a good experience with them.

  2. I've been gaming the Bloodline Vale since July.  Something about this putter really suits my eye.  It sits really square behind the ball and the 3 line alignment aid really seems to help me line the putter up with the line I'm trying to hit.  I know they promote this as a stand-up putter, but I was not a huge fan of the wrap grip that it came with so I swapped it out for a mid-size pistol grip.  The putter no longer stands up on its own,  but is still very head heavy which I also like.   It's also 1 of the most solid feeling putters I've ever rolled.

After testing the Garmin….would you buy it?

I am currently using the z82 range finder and I love it. Not sure if I need data overload since I shot 85-92 no matter what I use

I use a Bushnell V5 along with the Garmin S70.  There are advantages to both technologies and I like having all of the numbers available to me.

For me personally, I would not buy it at $700.  $500 would probably be the price point that I would be all in.  Like I said in my review, to make it worth $700 I feel like you need to take full advantage of the smart watch features of the S70.  While I do still where the watch as my everyday watch, I pretty much just use the notifications function of the smart watch.  There are a lot more sensors and features available that I do not use on a regular basis.  This watch for me is 1st and foremost a golf watch.  A golf watch that I have no problem using as my everyday watch.  My old V3 I only wore while I was golfing, so I had 2 watches that I would switch out when I played golf. The convenience of having 1 watch and not having to remember to bring my golf watch to the course is a huge plus for me, which was 1 of the main reasons I decided to stick with the Garmin and traded in my ShotScope watch.

Can anyone speak to how the data collected by Garmin compares to Shot Scope? Especially putts. I’m confused if you can enter putts manually on Garmin or does it not track those stats at all?

There is no manual putt option for the S70.  I mentioned this in my review as I came from ShotScope and was use to having the putting data.

As far as I know, the only way to get putting and chipping stats is to add the CT10 sensors to your clubs.

A new rangefinder to replace the one that was left magnetized to the cart a few weeks back. I checked with the course, but it was not turned in. So to the lucky soul who found it, enjoy it and use it well.

I did the same thing the 1st time I used my new V5.  Since then I started putting my keys in the pouch where my rangefinder goes so I cannot leave the course until check that pouch.  It has saved me several times!

  6. I didn't have any goals set for the year, but what a year it was!  I was having a fairly typical year scoring wise, then right around the 4th of July something clicked.  Over the past 3 months, I have played the most consistant golf of my life. I didn't beat my personal best, but I seemed to be within 5 or 6 shots of my PB nearly every round.  I don't have an official handicap, but according to The Grint my handicap has dropped from 11.5 at the end of last season to 6.8 today.  And to top it off I won my club championship match play event beating all 3 guys that have combined to win the last 10 years worth of championships.
