sp0rtsfan86
Let's do it: My swing coach doesn't play golf... he works at playgrounds. My swing has so many parts it makes IKEA furniture look simple. I don't have time to practice with all the time I spend looking for lost balls on the course. I haven't slept well, due to reoccurring nightmares standing over a 3 footer. The golf gods continue to smite me even after I gave up other sports for lent. Perhaps most of all: I'm moving my head. I'm laying it off. I'm pronating. I'm clearing too early... I'm clearing to late... My god my swing feels like an unfolding lawn chair. Driver: Epic Flash 12 Degree Wood: GBB 3 Wood Hybrid: Razr 4 hybrid stiff stock shaft. RoverRick
My excuse today, yesterday, tomorrow, and Monday is that I was forced to skip golf because of that pesky job. Actually had to sit at a conference table 8 hours yesterday and today which is real hell. And not the norm. However, playing three days a week is the norm now, and has been since last August. I keep telling myself I am going to play better this weekend. And while my game is coming around. I might shoot well for a round, not for the weekend. I will, absolutely will, have no excuses this weekend. Kor.A.Door
One of my excuses is that I work nights, so I have to work Friday night and then go straight to the course Saturday morning, so the excuse is that I am tired from being up all night. revkev
Last Saturday I had two excuses. I didn't hit many greens and I had a poor 3 hole bogie finish carding a 78. It's maddening to finish weak like that. Been there, done that yesterday. Started off hitting the ball poorly and after a few holes the putter managed to get with the program and head south too, I think it was the dark clouds and threat of a thunderstorm, no I'm sure of it. Somehow though my ball striking picked up but no problem three putts on 7 and 8 lead to a 41 on the front. Things turned hopeful on the back, the storm passed with very little rain and no thunder so of course I was 1 under for the first six holes there and cruising. But then it got stiflingly hot when the wind died down and I fell apart on the last three holes, chunked wedge -bogey, doubled cross hybrid (why I'd be trying to hit fade is anyone's guess) - bogey and my favorite ground ball up the middle from the left rough five iron- bogey finish. Oh yeah and my right hamstring hurt..... Nice thread, I feel refreshed and ready to start the day now. silver & black
Thinking about the 94 I carded yesterday: I played a beautiful course in Wooster, Ohio called The Pines. Maybe some of you in Ohio have played there. It is a fairly challenging course with lots of dog legs and trouble to be found. I played with my brother, who is in his third year of playing and his neighbor who is a bogey golfer. They both play slow and fiddle f*** around too much for my liking. I try to stay patient, but it aggravates me. We have had a lot of rain in the past couple of weeks and all the courses are soaked and have standing water everywhere. It was a gloomy day and it was misting for a quarter of the round. I hate wet conditions and I usually play poorly when confronted with them. I would rather be doing something other than playing golf. I'm definitely a "fair weather" golfer...lol. I suppose that's a more legitimate excuse... but not really...lol. Sluggo42
I get knocked off when there is a group shooting 95-105 in front of me, playing from the black tees. They won't let you thru, so you have to jump a whole hole to get past them, then when you get far enough ahead to come back to play the hole you jumped, there is always somebody on it. So then you're too busy driving around and rushing and bleah... Kenny B
OK fine. The greens were furry and the dang greenskeeper didn't cut the holes anywhere near wher my ball landed. It's not my fault I suck. You have a greenskeeper? We have a volunteer who mows the green with a mower that isn't adjusted properly. It's set too high so the greens probably run about 6 on the stimpmeter right now. Trying to keep the greens from drying out in the 100+ temps. One side cuts deeper than the other, so there is a mower mark on every pass. It's a guess how it will affect putts. The greens were aerated and no sand put on, so when the grass filled in, it's bumpy; well, except for #7 where the back right corner of the green was sanded but not brushed and that part of the green is now a bunch of little mounds and there is no such thing as a putt with less than 3 breaks. Right now, I would take a "dang greenskeeper". I know these are reasons why I can't hit the greens! “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

revkev
Okay are you ready, I shot 83 yesterday which could not possibly have been my fault so here goes and this will draw on several other threads BTW: 1. I took a lesson on Weds. 2. I had a wicked hangover from the scotch I needed to complete the TV installation the night before. 3. The course we played is the sister course to my club. It's one of those fancy dan daily fee places that folks pay between 50-100 to play. It used to host a tour event. Some idiot put the gold tee (the one almost all guys play) at 200 on number 3. It's 159 on the card. That one move brought three water hazzards into play and backed the entire already over booked course up. We actually had four groups on that hole at one point. Give me a club or muni and spare me the so called country club daily fee experience. 4. After that and a visit from the cart girl for the hair of the dog treatment we had four and 2/3 great holes. Then a huge thunder cell formed just to our north and lightening flashed across the sky in my partners back swing. He hit it in the water and we went for shelter. 5. There was a bar at the nearest safe place and I have a charge account at it. 6. An hour later when we went back we were pretty much too drunk to see the ball. That's how a 3 shoots 83. Shall I recount how my playing partner who is a 1 and once was a plus 3 shot 85 for you? It started with an 8 on 1. Sluggo42
I shot well today, a 75, but with 34 putts... My complaint today is that the greens keeper seems to enjoy putting the flags at the very edge of the green during the weekdays in order to keep the green in nice shape for the weekend crush?
