Something rather exciting happened to me on Thursday. I got the chance to meet with Dave Billings (founder and maker of Machine Putter/Dogleg Right) and it looks like I'm going to get the chance to do some finishing work for him over the next few months. I left on Thursday with 3 heads. 2 raw carbon M1As and a raw stainless "upside down putter" I don't remember the official model name for it. So I've been working on those for the last couple days. There are a few projects I finished this week that I haven't gotten around to posting, but I'll get some pics up soon.

I'm def interested to see how Mr KorADoor's ping turned out. Looking forward to photos of the finished product!

Side note: I played for the first time in forever this week and used my kickass new ball marker from "ExtraterrestrialsDinedOnMyLivestock". I also marked the ball of a notoriously slow player in our group with it more than once... (it says "LETS GO, THIS AINT AUGUSTA" on it)

The upside down putter is a prototype. It's one he and Hank Haney designed together for Tiger and was going to be released under the name Stevenson Golf. I've got one at the house

Hey guys, I was directed to this thread for help with my new acquisition.

Trying to see what is needed for my Odyssey Ti-Hot # 2. Question is can you remove finish with Tal-strip or equivalent or is blasting the only method?

Thanks for the help!

You can remove the finish without much trouble. If you have a dremel, these will do the trick nicely:

Way up this thread, I posted 2 studio design putters (#1 and #2) that I stripped with these buff wheels, then torched.

I think this one should be possible too - at least worth a try!

Should work just fine. If no Dremel, you can hand sand at 120/400/1000 grits and that'll do the trick.

Problem is the the milled face, correct, the finish is also on face. I was thinking tal-strip. DO you think that would work?

Thanks!

I don't know. I highly doubt tal strip will strip anything but paint. In order to refinish, you want to try to get to raw metal or as close as possible. The face can take being sanded, just go easy on it - the goal is to remove the finish, not the texture of the milling.

I finished the cleaning this weekend. I will post pics of the paintfill later. I took it back to original red on Odyssey symbols and the #2 but black on all lettering. I used simple aerosol paint remover from Walmart and it removed the coating down to the metal.

Going to start working on my first Scotty re-paint this weekend!  Got my Tamiya paints and all the supplies, just need to set the time aside to start the project.

A side question though, does anyone know what white paint will match best to a Taylormade M2?  buddy of mine need his touched up and wasnt sure if the Tamiya White Gloss would work.

Anybody used that point or something different for an M2 touch up?

Not totally sure, tamiya is quality stuff and should be a good starting point. RB7 has done some great looking driver work and may have some insight to the best option for trying to clean up paint chipping on the M2 crown. I have a '17 M2 that has some nasty chipping along the line where the face meets the crown. I think I'm going to read up on DIY spray jobs and maybe go all black on it. Expand the horizons.

I will give the Tamiya white a shot this weekend to see how it matches up to the 16' M2.

Finally started to work on the Scotty a little bit and decided to mess with my wedges as well.  Going for a Master's them on my wedges, hopefully inspires a better short game! lol

First time doing my own paint job and these were done without needle tip applicators. (Those should arrive today)  Way to time consuming with a toothpick and acetone to clean the edges

I've found that when doing the cherry dots on Camerons, it's best to reallllllly thin the paints either in the paint mix, or by swabbing the dot with a q-tip soaked in isopropyl alcohol. The first drop should rush to the edges of the dot and then fill in from there with additional drops.

Here's my first real stab at a black polymer finish on a putter that I give a damn about.

The polymer kind of "pebbled" which I'm not in love with, I'd rather it be flat or smooth, but otherwise it looks great. Going to keep after it until I get it perfect.

Looking great, is it with the original insert or copper? I got the same model and thinking of doing something similar [emoji4]

The original insert. Was thinking about torching Bronze, but I like the extreme contrast of black and silver

Your polymer is too thick and you're spraying it on too thick is why it's wrinkling. It needs to be thinned down, atomized more and sprayed from a further distance. And you'll want a bake on product
