Generally speaking when people think they aren't putting well it's a proximity to the hole issue. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy I agree. When I have a "bad day" putting, it's not really my putting that's the problem. Most of the time it's my irons and wedges that's off. What I mean is, if you have a 40' putt instead of a 15' putt, your chances of a three putt are highly likely. You have to do everything well in order for a low score. Get off the tee well. Hit GIR (within 15'-20'). It sounds easy enough, but that means sometimes you have to play for a bogey instead of an unrealistic birdie or par. tony@CIC
Let's face it there are two ways to become a better putter. Improve your putting or hit the ball closer to the hole. Generally speaking when people think they aren't putting well it's a proximity to the hole issue. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy This was a game changing concept for me. Before I would to land the ball at the beginning of the green under the assumption that I didn't want the ball to potentially roll off the greens. Note most of our greens have dramatic slopes. This generally resulted in 3-4 putts I've since focused on iron work that gets me closer to the pin - when I'm successful doing that (still a lot of work to do) it's amazing how many fewer putts I have. For you low handicappers I know this is like SOP but for us newbies or at least me its a revelation: and the ability to execute on irons is easier than putting Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy Left Hand orientation SIM 2 D Max with Fujikura Air Speeder Shaft Cobra Radspeed 3W/RIptide Shaft 410 Hybrids 22*, 26* Cobra Speed Zone 6-GP/Recoil ESX 460 F3 Shafts SM7 54* Wedge Glide 3.0 60* Wedge O Works putter V3 NX9-HD - 4 Wheel EZGO TXT 48v cart - too many shoes to list and so many to buy And BAG Boy Golf Balls: Vice Pro Plus 2020 Official Tester Beginning Driver Speed - 78 2019 Official Tester 410 Driver 2018 Official Tester C300

Kenny B
Let's face it there are two ways to become a better putter. Improve your putting or hit the ball closer to the hole. Thank you Reverend Obvious! Since my ball striking is not that great, I am not likely to hit the ball closer to the hole on a consistent basis which is why I spend a lot of time on putting practice. Some days are better than others, but overall my putting can produce a decent round or save a mediocre round from becoming a really awful round. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
revkev
Kenny - if you aren't hitting the green isn't chipping and pitches no more important than putting? I would think working on your chipping, pitching and short putting would be most important for a player like you. In fact putting might be less important. You don't have as many players by putts - unless you are playing on Bermuda and chunking by your chips. Today I chipped in for birdie on the par 4 #7, then almost chipped in for birdies on the par 4's #10 and #11; hit the stick on #11.
