NiftyNiblick
Tiger brings in the cross-over fans with only a moderate interest in golf--much like Arnie did when I was a young kid. Real aficionados are already forgetting how great he used to be because they're familiar with what's been going on since.. To casual fans, the Tiger Era was the last time that they thought about spectator golf.

Shankster
I agree with your last sentence 199%, but one of the main reasons at I picked up a club was TW. First person that comes to mind for professional basketball... and go? Football? Most people attribute a player with a sport. For me. It's MJ for basketball, Tiger for golf, Tom Brady for football, Baseball... I have no idea. Alan Trammel probably, because we shared a name. But I also like the old greats, Seve, Jack, Arnie, Gary... I respect your thoughts and facts there, I just find it boring to watch most of these guys on TV currently.

But....... golf would not be what it is RIGHT NOW if it wasn't for Tiger. Half of the young guys playing on tour right now, idolized him while dreaming of being where they are, right now. Golf, in general would not be what/where it is right now if it wasn't for Tiger. Tiger IS the game.... RIGHT NOW. His come back has generated more interest in the game than all of the young, talented, exceptionally GOOD players out there, combined. I love watching all the young guys that are on tour now.... they are sooooooo good! But.... none of them generate the interest in the game that Tiger does. Tiger is the Jack, Arnie, Sneed, Hogan, Player of this era of golf.... and he isn't playing too shabby for all that he's been through. I get that some people will never like him.... but that doesn't change the facts. I hate, loath, despise the Patr*ots, but I can still acknowledge that they are a great team. Sent from my SM-N950U using MyGolfSpy mobile app To be fair, Shankster said, golf needs Tiger to win, not you need him to win. And he's not wrong. You are correct also that no one player is greater than the game and it will be here long after Tiger is gone...let's hope anyway. That said, it's undeniable that when Tiger is playing more people are tuned in and talking about the game. And when he's in contention those numbers are multiplied, an d that is nothing but good for the game. Shankster
Unfortunately I think I know who is going to win... Patrick Reed will shoot a 56 and take home the Jug... Another note.
