My average score from the tips of a "normal" course is 80. I wonder if I could break 100 at The Open?

only if your putting is on. As courses go it's difficult but not hugely difficult for a 4 capper, however some of the greens are enormous and its 3 club difference front to back. OR if you play in a 25mph wind you will have no chance breaking 90 I would wager

Sounds like a challenge I need to take on before my time is up.

Would you be willing to make me a list of the must play courses over there?

I am trying to talk my wife into visiting The UK. Mostly Scotland, trace my family roots back, and find them Shanks...

I figure they either were terrible at golf or really tall to get a surname like that.

I think Rickie finally does it. He was hot last weekend and I think he will carry that over this week. He is due!

It would be great to see Rickie win his first major. There is a nucleus of young meteorites right now that are high odds to win on any given Sunday.

Last night I binge watched a show on Netflix called Chronicles of a Champion Golfer. It got me pumped up to see who is going to try and dominate at Carnoustie.

The insights from the players about how they approached the game of golf was fascinating. Highly recommend.

of course, however there are loads of websites showing the best ones and how to play them, booking, prices etc. Mine would just be a list of the ones I've played and liked.

Yeah, I figured those websites are a good start. But they won't have the little knowns. And local knowledge is way better.

Sitting here watching live from The Open. This is worse than Christmas Eve.

One more sleep. I'll be getting up at 0500 to enjoy some early rounds tomorrow and Friday. Saturday and Sunday I'll adjust as needed. Is it tomorrow yet?

you're like me, it kicks off live at 0630 tomorrow, Sandy Lyle takes the first shot in deathly silence with probably no wind and you can hear a pin drop on grass. Alarm set, breakfast laid out, comfy chair ready for approx 14 hours live uninterrupted HD coverage   :D

Yeah, I figured those websites are a good start. But they won't have the little knowns. And local knowledge is way better.

off the top of my head

St Andrews Old course (obvious), St Andrews New course and Jubilee. The Carrick just outside St Andrews and Kingsbarnes a few miles away.

Gleneagles Kings course and PGA (where Ryder cup was held).

Carnoustie (2018 Open) matter of preference as I don't enjoy the course but enjoy the challenge.

Royal Troon - similar to Carnoustie in enjoyment level apart from the Postage Stamp par 3 which is great fun.

Dundonald Links

Scotscraig - near the sea but is mostly heathland and used for Open Qualifying when the Open is in Scotland

These are mostly Links courses but thats some of the best to play. Theres lots of nice inland parkland courses as well to change things up.

How many times do we hear #Carnasty this weekend?

Over 1000. I will be watching on mute for a while. I can't stand commentators who talk incessantly. They need to learn how to use silence.

No matter who wins, Tiger will capture our hearts.

Did you see that video of today after his range session he was walking off and there was like 20 kids waiting for autographs and he just walked right through them....he is on a mission it looks like

I'll give you guys one prediction.

Albatross on a par 4. Someone will finally do it.

Thomas Pieters drove the first green this morning and nearly holed the eagle. I think you could be right.

I did see a few 'irons off the tee for safety' ending up being swallowed by bunkers that should be out of reach..........thought that might happen (poor Ernie on the first)

I'm enjoying the play - it is what it is which is always the case in the Open.

The greens look ridiculously out of place IMO - like 18 oasis' in the desert or ours in a dry late winter that are artificially colored to make the snow birds happy.

What an amazing incredible break for Stone.

I heard that Spieth was dedicating his tournament to the Shankster.
