It's only Tuesday and I'm already sick of hearing about the "Bear Trap!"  Can the PGA Tour just stop trying to forcefully generate their own "Amen Corner," please?   It's like "that guy" who gave himself a nickname!

Now in returning to this discussion I’ve always thought this tournament suffered from poor timing.

There are so many Tour members who take up residence in Jupiter, Tequesta and PBG. It was historically placed between Doral and Bay Hill. We all know the top 50 in the world aren’t playing. 3 big events in a row.

Here’s an event in most guys’ backyard and they had to take a pass because of two higher profile events.

Fast forward and now it’s Honda, Bay Hill and then TPC.

Same issue and it won’t draw the monster field it could.

I have listened to a number of podcasts recently featuring Geoff Ogilvy, a member of the media and a former PGA Tour employee.  If they are to be believed, the majority of players hate the Champions Course at PGA National.  They told some insider stories about some of the tournaments on Tour. 

Interestingly enough, the API has had to pay top players to attend in recent years because it's the "worst run tournament on Tour" according to them.  Appearance fees aren't allowed so, they pay players a premium to teach "clinics" during the week of the API in order to get them to play the tournament.  According to the Pod, the media/players dining at the API was uncooked hotdogs, unheated/unopened buns and boxes of condiment packages for a number of years.  I feel like I need to be apologetic for thinking that is so funny!
