Vegan_Golfer_PNW
So I posted my speedblades I am selling on Ebay (also listed here) and an Ebay user sent me an offer, but in the text of it told me to text them so i can get the payment ASAP. This totally sounds like a scam. I posted a screen shot of the message below. Maybe someone has dealt with this person before? Can i just accept their offer and then call their bluff? Any help would be appreciated. Nateyeight
I would do it through eBay or get his PayPal and do it through Goods and Services. GolfSpy_BNG
Sounds to me like they plan on contesting the charge once you ship or they receive the clubs. I would stick to eBay or PayPal G&S so you have some protection as I don't know if PayPal can take the funds back from you if he contests the charges. aerospace_ray
Strongly suggest you advise the buyer to purchase through Ebay. Verified PayPal accounts only way IMO if you are individual seller (none business). That's only way I have sold to someone on ebay. SmoothG
It's a scam. Common in this situation is for them to overpay you and then ask you to forward the extra to their "assistant" or someone similar. They use fraudulent funds which gets reversed but you've already sent the "extra" to someone so you get double screwed. Buffly
It would be a bad idea. When you list on eBay you are agreeing to pay them a commission and that would be against your sellers agreement to take outside payment. In addition to the risks mentioned by others, you would be possibly banned by eBay. I wouldn't risk it That's an excellent point that I hadn't considered! Is it possible for someone to gain access to your account simply by knowing your email address? This is because something similar happened to my girlfriend last week. She put her old Nokia N8 up for auction, expecting to get around £80 at most, but a user messaged her offering £290 for it, but she has to ship it to Nigeria, I believe. The dude requested her email address so that he could send the funds. He sent her the money after she gave him her email address. Could you shed any light on this? Gusset
Go through ebay...many reasons as stated, not to mention integrity- it's a violation of the policy you agreed to when you listed the item. SlowNLow 1 Quote Link to comment
AvaL_05
Hi! Trust your instincts, it does sound like a scam. Stick to eBay's platform for payments to stay safe. It's best to avoid engaging with suspicious offers. Good luck with your sale! Edited March 25 by AvaL_05 Quote Link to comment

Bobbers
There are more variations on this scam than one can count with new ones popping up every day. This IS a scam and best avoided. If you're lucky all you'll do is lose your clubs for no payment. At worst your bank account will be at risk. The same applies to your girlfriend.
