Came into the par 3 16th at 2 under yesterday to find the tees at the tournament tips on the other side of the cart path that I have never seen used other than Phoenix Open Qualifiers and State Tournaments. A little uphill, sloping back to front and 227 to the pin. Too far for a 7 wood so I choked up a little on my 3 wood and swung normally, landing in the middle and rolling back to the pin for an 8 footer I made to go 3 under on a hole I would have been delighted to par. Bogied 18 after finding the fairway bunker and had to wedge out sideways but the 103* heat with absolutely zero wind had taken it's toll and I was toast waiting on that tee box as the heat brought the round to a crawl the last 4 holes and we were waiting in the sun with no shade on every tee box. ... My Canadian snowbird winter partners arrived yesterday and they want to "experience the heat" walking with a pushcart for a round, so 103* again today before dropping into the 80's all next week. Well since that produced a win and given his play over the last 2 seasons, why wouldn't they do the same for Fields who needs dumbing down much more than Bagent? The ole once in a lifetime opportunity scenario. But all my friends here that are from someplace else originally and still love their hometown teams also give it a hard pass. Went with my Dad, and 2 brothers, and we all went to the All-Star game here at Tiger Stadium in 1971 when Reggie Jackson hit a home run over the right field roof. I don't think tickets for the 4 of us cost more than 150.00 back then. But the memories from those days of yore are truly priceless. I am truly hoping that the Diamondbacks make it a fun to watch and interesting World Series.
