@Berg Ryman, I feel for you!  Having been born, raised and had my career in Rochester, New York I know at times that's considered a good golf day this time of year!

Your suggestion is a good one and will be passed along.  Not only are we fighting weather in the North, but club championships and other events that pop up this time of year making it tough to get other rounds in.

Good luck!

FWIW, I booked a round in New York on a day where the high when I tee off is gonna feel like 50, dipping into the high 40s with a 75% chance of rain.

Next year we should try to start this in August... just saying 😉

Maybe we should have been paired against each other so we similar conditions lol

That sounds like good golf weather to me.  Unfortunately I’m having the opposite problems in California.  Got a round in this morning started @6:45 and it was 80 degrees before 8a.  Topped the charts at 100 today… expected to be over 85-95 the rest of the weekend….

Well I’m trying to catch up but unless you got some bogeys on the back I’m gonna be in trouble. So far through 6 holes on the back it’s all para and a birdie

Back 9 was great ball striking round but didn’t give myself any makeable putts other than on 15 as I almost drove the green and chipped it close. I’m betting the 3-putt bogey on 18 is gonna cost me.  I’ll post this is the weekly one as a whole score norm

After the third week of round robin play, the top teams in each division moved forward into the playoffs.  Unfortunately, The Net Birdies didn't make it so there's no reason to post a score in the Match Play Tournament.  For the weekly VCT tournament, post in week 27 (current week's event).

The rounds are completed.  The results have been tabulated.  So, here is the results of the MyGolfSpy Forum Member Match Play Tournament championship matches.

To recap, we had Nicklaus Division champion Sharkey Mac’n Swans up against the Vardon Division winner The Distinguished Gentlemen.  All four team members squared off in individual match play.   The individual face offs were determined by captains listing their players for matches A through D.  All matches were played between October 2-8.

The first match can be characterized by the two captains facing off and setting the tone for the finals.  Match A featured GolfSpy_BNG versus GolfSpy_AHP.  This was a very close match.  GolfSpy_AHP jumped out to a 1 hole lead on the first hole.   He held that lead until the 16th hole when GolfSpy_BNG won it with a par and squared the match.  They pushed 17, so it all came down to the 18th hole where neither golfer stroked.  GolfSpy_AHP won the 18th and the match with a par.

image.png.10aaf774b16453663e3508aa89cadbb6.png

Lets skip ahead to the D Match which pitted Sharky’s swansosa against Distinguished Gentemen’s CB Lobo 4 Life.  Here we had another close match.  Swansosa jumped out to an early lead winning the first hole.  CB Lobo 4 Life tied it up with a par on the third hole.  Not to be outdone, swansosa took the next three holes with birdies on two of the three.  CB Lobo 4 Life faught back and tied it on 13 with a birdie.  Swansosa won 14 and 15 with pars and closed out the match with a birdie on 17 to win 2 and 1.

image.png.a94916ebeba6d113eff322ee37ac068f.png

After two matches, both team were tied with one victory each.  The tie breaker, total holes won, had Sharky Mac’n Swans holding a one hole lead going into the last two matches.

Match B featured fredsharky against The Distinguished Gentlemen’s jnoble89.  Would the single digit handicap fredsharky out dual the 24 handicap jnoble89?  It was tight over the first seven holes.  Both contestants won two holes and never had more than a 1 up hole lead.  Fredsharky won the 8th hole with a birdie and proceeded to win nine of the next eleven holes to win by a score of 5 and 4.

image.png.54cd354019a8d35312de513822cb8c0f.png

Match C featured Sharky’s LinksgolfFever against Distinguish Gentlemen’s Berg Ryman.  Here we had Southern California versus Upstate New York.  Berg Ryman had his hands full with not only LinksgolfFever, but the elements this time of year in Fulton, NY!  After four holes, the golfers were all square.  LinksgolfFever won the 5th hole with a par and didn’t look back wining the next six holes.  He maintained that lead and ultimately won 7 and 6.

image.png.2a3e4d6ee4f8e298d5dd1edaee9c77e4.png

With all the matches completed, the winner of the MyGolfSpy Member Match Play Tournament is Sharky Mac’nSwans!

image.png.4d0ee0f2f2ff65eb09c9cbe63719d9dd.png

Congratulations to Sharky Mac’n Swans for their win.

I'd like to extend my thanks to all the captains for your leadership and support.  I also would like to thank all who participated over these five weeks.  I know at times it wasn't easy.

This was the largest special event tournament we’ve attempted.   I may be a bit biased but think it’s safe to say it was a success.

Until our next special tournament, hit them straight!

Congrats to our opponents and well done being the first ever Matchplay winners! Was a ton of fun and very proud of my team getting to the finals and putting up a fight against a great team.

A great way to finish off the season!

Wow can’t believe it. A huge thanks to @Golf2Much and @GolfSpy TCB for putting this on and the hard work that went into making it work.

This competition clearly brought out the best in a lot of guys as seen by the scores posted. I know it did me by finally breaking 70!

I also got to thank my teammates @swansosa @LinksgolfFever @fredsharky  Way to battle guys.

Id be remiss to not thank all the competitors as well. This was an amazing competition that I hope will continue for years to come.

Congrats on a well earned victory, Sharks Mac’n Swans! Was an absolute blast in this event and can’t wait for the next one! Massive S/O to @GolfSpy TCB & @Golf2Much for keeping everything so organized throughout, and to my teammates @GolfSpy_APH, @Berg Ryman & @CB Lobo 4 Life it was a great run!

I want to express the same sentiments as the rest of the folks out here. Thanks so much for putting this on, @GolfSpy TCB and @Golf2Much

Thanks for the teammates I had, @GolfSpy_BNG, @swansosa and @LinksgolfFever

Having a format like this makes me think about the golf game and play better.

Normally on my days that I play I just kind of go through the motions but to have something to actually play for helps me out tremendously

Also want to thank all the competitors

Too bad we cannot do this in real life in person

Welp, this sucks. I'm sorry guys. It was fun while it lasted, but this one hurts, especially since that was likely the last round of the season.

Loved having you as part of the team and thanks for playing as hard as you did! The game of golf gives and takes away and at least for me it was nice to have a team with all of you on it. Gave some added pressure and incentive to play more.
