TEMU + Golf - woohoo or boohoo?

Rob Person

Recommended Posts

I have, what I think, is a funny story about TEMU.

My daughter is a consumer, likes to consume, Temu becomes popular and she consumes... Anyway a bunch of "stuff" is delivered and she opens up the stuff, surrounded by a 10 year old a 7 year old and a 9 year old... The goods are dispersed amongst the kids and the 9 year old gets a comic character. I asked him "where did you get that?" He says "from auntie". I said "where did she get it from?" He says " I don't know a garage sale I think!!"

So, it has been decided in our family that "I don't know a garage sale I think" is the statement of 2023... directly related to Temu...

I have too agree. I don’t mind taking a risk and going driver off the deck for the $10 but if my partner has a nice lay up in the fairway it definitely takes the pressure off.

Any review over 10 words seems pretty legit to me.

One of the benefits of having chinese manufacturers with blanks that essentially anyone can buy and use.

I avoid Temu totally, the things I’ve read they are a huge info farming Chinese app that uses cheap prices to get personal info , so I personally choose not to expose my info any more than necessary . That’s my take on it , they offer really cheap prices to first time buyers , I have friends that use them often but myself it’s a no go ! I prefer to purchase from known outlets and small business whenever feasible

One pair was "LEFUS Men's waterproof" non-spiked, and the other are more generic "non-slip spiked golf shoes" which appear to be discontinued.   Both have more hard plastic and non-leather materials than my foot-joys.   Both are BOA.  They seem to be holding up well.  They are tough to compare - they don't compare to the top of the line foot-joys -- but just looking online I would say they look similar to some Payntr models PGATSS carries.  Hope that helps!

These are the golf sneakers I got from temu. Got a special pricing offer $14 ( after Leaving it in the cart for a week by itself)

They are comfortable , but I did swap out for some gel insert soles for better support. Have ran them through the washer twice now too. Holding up well so far.

More temu goodies. This time from my wife as a "I had a credit, and didn't need anything " surprise.   Total cost, $6.89

The scrub bottle is a spray type and does not leak!  Has a d ring clip with coil cord to clip to bag.

WM, Amazon, Sam's, Costco, and just about every provider of golf products (and more) are from the same regions of manufacturing. Some even the same plants!!!

All the fancy overpriced clothing lines, same.

I just bought a set of Yamahero P790 irons from Temu, 4-PW.

I saw a review/comparison video on YouTube from a golf instructor/fitter guy. He compared the TM P790's to the Yamahero P790's. Side by side they are very similar in appearance. He basically did a shot-for-shot comparison and the Yamahero's were almost exactly the same in performance. It was creepy how close the two different sets of data were. And, in fact, the Yamahero's were slightly more forgiving with a "hotter" face. He said the biggest con on the Yamahero set was the shaft and grip. They weren't bad, he just didn't think they were great. But, for $280, including shipping, how could you go wrong.

If you're interested in watching the video the channel is called AskGolfNut. He's appears to be golf data nerd. Very interesting and entertaining guy.

So, I bit the bullet and ordered a set. The set I ordered have a nice looking Black-ish finish and look fantastic. They should be here in mid September. I'll hopefully remember to do a follow-up.

Drivers: Stix Compete & Stix Perform, stiff graphite

Fairways: Stix Perform 3 & 5 stiff graphite

Irons: Stix Perform 5-PW and Maltby KE4 Max 4-GW

Wedges: Stix 52, 56, 60 and Cleveland ZipCore CBX 50, 54

Putters: Stix mallet, Stix Butter Putter, Cleveland HB3 Soft

I should add that the clubs do not have a "TaylorMade" logo on them anywhere. They have a unique "Y" or "T" shaped stamp on them.

Good luck with them! Due to the size, did you have to pay extra for the shipping?

I am curious about the build quality itself as well and how they hold up!

Thanks. Shipping is free, but they state that they will be shipped via sea and it could be between Aug 22 and September 13 before they get here.

For $281 I'm not expecting high end clubs, but according to AskGolfNut they are actually very nicely made. To me they look like they come from the same factory molds as Sub 70, Caley, Takomo, etc which isn't a bad thing to me.

Time will tell how they hold up. I'm very curious myself.

I hope you post how you got on with these.

I have seen a set of Adam Scott Miura irons, that has piqued my curiosity.
