John, great job on the video! I was happy to see the octopus headcover out there, even if it sounds like a rooster. 

You weren't joining about how good that TaylorMade cover looks, it's got a premium vibe and I love the embossing on it. 

I am looking forward to you getting out and seeing how it performs.

*Unboxing Update*

Hey everybody, as previously mentioned, I received the Qi10 Max two days ago. I was excited to go ahead and open the box and have the driver in my hands again. I want to start by saying, the packing was not really what I was expecting to see, and was surprised at the lack of proper care for the driver making it safely to the destination.

As you can see, the package contained only one piece of packing paper and the head was bubble-wrapped. However, the bubble wrap came off while I was removing the driver from the plastic so I am not sure how useful it was. Anyways, to the Qi10 Max itself.

Personally, I dig the black/blue combination and I much prefer it to the previous Taylormade Stealth offering. When it comes to the actual head of the club, the Qi10 Max is the largest offering of the Qi10 Models, but there is something to be said when you look down the shaft and your level of confidence heightens. 

All in all, I personally really vibe with the looks of the Qi10 Max. The colors mesh well and the headcover will be a standout on the course. But what's more prevelant is, how well it will vibe with my golf game.

I totally agree! I lived in IN for a few years and the rooster crows just took me back there!

Did you have any damage on the driver upon arrival? 
Great photos and I’m a big fan of the switch to a blue face and the look of this years driver also!

The packing did cause me to do a more thorough inspection of each component. Removing the head to make sure the sleeve was still in perfect condition. Thankfully, all is well.

Great work @Michael.Sandoval33!  I thought the same re the packaging, but it seems like both ours arrived safe and sound.  Hmmm.  Maybe TaylorMade knows what’s what, but they do seem to be banking on some white glove shipping.   Which they got!

I am actually surprised that yours was shipped in the same fashion. I thought it may have been due to it being shipped only two hours away in San Diego. But you're right, maybe they trust their builders enough that it wasn't a concern.

I moved away from my friends and was not comfortable playing with people I did not know. About two years ago, I started playing early morning back 9s with a neighbor and eventually grew the confidence to go out and play with random people. I saw many people were basically at my level. I saw people have miss-hits, take mulligans and breakfast balls. Most people are relaxed and golf to enjoy the game. I was always afraid of being with people who take the game too seriously and I'd embarrass myself by not following every rule to the T. I've learned that most people just want to have fun.

Also, don't fear the larger courses. I've seen a positive trend where courses are getting away for gender and age based tee boxes and moving toward capability based tee boxes. If you don't feel like you are quite ready for the length of a course, move up a tee box or two and just give it your best shot. Par 5s can be some of the most fun holes and least stressful because they're more forgiving. The length might stress you out but your more likely to recover from a bad shot. I find par 3s more stressful because there is less room for error.

I meant to respond to this @FallenSaber but then unboxing things started happening! I have read a bit about the trends regarding the tee boxes, which personally I think is great and could also help better golfers with distance control from the tees. I am definitely going to get out there, the test has pushed me into ready mode just thinking about it. I can only learn by being proactive. Thanks for the sound advice.

Wow! So far so good! Great unboxing moments to you folks. The packaging was a bit whelming, I see. I think I’m used to seeing the smaller club makers put more effort in their first impression moment. But padding-wise—ya, it’s very trusting of the shipping industry.

@Hook DeLoft When I got my Aerojet earlier this month, I called up the store afterward said I forgot to get a torque wrench. They told me that the wrenches no longer come with the clubs, but it’s possible to buy them or use the one I already have since torque specs were standardized a while back. BTW which shaft did you and @Michael.Sandoval33 end up with?

@IndyBonzo IMO, that’s probably one of the better TM driver designs, from an aesthetic point of view. I’m kinda curious about the ZGrip, as in, does it add benefit over the Tour Velvet?

That is just such a sexy looking driver. Same as you, digging the blue and black look. The matte look on the top is also good looking.

I ended up with the Ventus TR Blue 5. Out of all the shafts I tried, this one just worked for me. I did a little research and it seems the Ventus has been a go-to for a while so I am excited to fully test it out. Thanks for asking.

And if you think I am exaggerating I carry my driver on average around 225-230 yds. Being fit for the Qi10 Max with a TM Rep at the PGA SS I was carrying the ball 190-195 yds according to the LM. I normally shoot around par or under regularly but when I got my fitting sheet from the TM rep that didn't ask about my index of 0.3 at the moment, he listed my index as a 12.   Can't say I blame him. 

... We decided on the Qi10 Max based on several factors including I was playing the Stealth2 HD and I was interested in Max Forgiveness. I had also played the standard Stealth2 and was just more accurate with my HD so he was hesitant to recommend the standard Qi10. I really didn't like the Max huge footprint but forgiveness comes at an aesthetic cost and while hard to tell indoors, I didn't care for the sound/feel either. 

... My first tee shot on the course was a harbinger of things to come. Just looking down at the Max in the address position had me thinking "What was I thinking?" and I hit a low left pull hook. While I hit some decent drives over the next 7 rounds, I hit more poor drives than normal and the Max Forgiveness didn't help those bad swings at all. 

... Long story short, I exchanged the Max for the Std Qi10 and after only 3 rounds I can safely say it is a night and day difference. For me the Qi10 was more forgiving than the Max.   Obviously the shape and size of the Max was just not a good fit for me so the question became is the Qi10 that looks really good behind the ball and a hair larger than my gamer a better performer than my S2 HD.  The answer is a resounding yes and I have already hit 2 of my longest drives on 2 different holes and one by 20 yds because I was able to hit on the flat instead of the uphill part of the fairway. And this is the really big surprise for me, I am more accurate with the Qi10 than my S2 HD. My slight miss tends to be a little high toward and the toe and the Qi10 is the best driver I have hit for that slight miss. Longer, more accurate and forging for my swing is a pretty amazing combination. 

... I am looking forward to the reviewers experience with their Qi10, Max and LS. After not seeing much difference between the Sim Max, Sim2 Max and Stealth2 HD I really think Taylor Made has something special with the Qi10. While you may not find the same success I have experienced, you 6 are in for a fun ride!

Seems like when my Mizuno was shipped to me almost two years ago, the packing was pretty similar. I'm also reminded of when I packed up my clubs to go to Scotland: Wrapped a towel around the wood heads, which all had headcovers, bubble wrap (loosely) around that, a rain cover encasing the whole thing, and an umbrella inside the travel bag to hopefully protect it from Delta baggage handlers. Sticks got to Scotland undamaged. I don't think I wrapped the towels around them for the return trip, but did everything else, and they got home okay as well.

Definitely very interesting. I think maybe having worked for FedEx, UPS and Amazon, seeing how packages are flung around, I expected more from the packaging. Kind of insane that one of the guys could have been throwing someone's brand driver under a set of dumbbells. (There were no HWC stickers on the box)

... Haha it is what it is and I really shouldn't even hit balls on a LM indoors unless it is just to get an idea about sound and feel. I didn't hit the LS as I usually need more spin with my driver and why I played the Stealth2 HD over the standard Stealth2. With a +3 AoA and my normal trajectory, 2400-2600 produces the best results for me.
