What is the best driver?

How do you know thet your distance, carry and total, is he best you can get with a driver  ?

Prior to the current Taylormade QI10 max I am using my favorite was a little known Bridgestone JGR driver. Fantastic driver for my swing at the time, but not very durable. After 2 years, maybe 250 rounds, the face caved in on a drive.

I've mentioned this on other threads but last year I walked up to the Cobra demo tent and asked about the Aerojet.  The fitter knew me from a prior demo day where we tested the ForgeTec irons.  He asked what driver I'm playing and I told him the G410P.  His said, "okay, so long as it's not the G400, I can beat that performance."  When he saw I was taken back by the statement he said "IMO, the G400 was the best driver PING ever produced and, for many players, the best driver all things considered".  I see lots and lots of these in bags around here... which suggests many support his claim.

The Aerojet did not offer much in distance or dispersion over the G410P.  I have subsequently tested the Qi10, G425, 0311, Tour Edge (forgot which model), and Ai Smoke.  None have moved the needle much but all offered some slight gain in distance (<5 yards).  The Tour Edge was right in the mix, felt good, and a couple hundred less.

I'm anxious to try the G430, TM Darkspeed, latest Tour Edge (E723MOI+), and the GT4, although for some reason Titleist clubs and I have never gelled.  Tour Edge offers an Air Speeder 40 R-flex shaft that I'm wanting to try... 10g lighter than my KBS and might pick up a little CHS.

My favorite is the one I have now, the Krank F11, it is set up for me perfectly, from the shaft to the weight of the head, the ball just goes, But for accuracy I would have to say my Old Cobra, I Loved that club till I hit my Krank. I ended up selling it to a friend and he won’t sell it back to me now.

Well I've never hit one as good as the Qi10 that I just put in the bag, but I concur on the Rogue ST Max LS which is the one I replaced. That thing is just great.

I do have very fond memories with my Titleist 983K that stayed in the bag for probably a dozen years from high school, through college, until I could afford to buy clubs for myself.

My first “real” driver was a Ping G2, was automatic with that thing for years before (stupidly) deciding to get rid of it.

For me it was the TaylorMade TP Burner 2007 model, 9 degrees. I had a Graman Lime Green stiff shaft and the ball found the fairways consistently. Unfortunately one day on the 9th tee box I struck the ball & the head snapped off and went flying into the woods to the left of the tee never to be seen by me again

I’ve got to say my current driver, Callaway Paradym AI Smoke Triple Diamond. I hit this thing so much better than anything I’ve ever had.

I’m playing ai smoke max now but looking back over the years the 07’ TaylorMade burner will be the driver that always stands out to me.

I loved the TaylorMade R7 Quad! I felt extremely confident on the tee. I recently got fitted for the first time into a Ping G430 Max and it may be the top pick soon.
