I'll be driving by Foz - can I stop in?

 

Happy and safe Thanksgiving to everyone at MGS including our foreign friends, even if you aren't doing it in a formal way I'm sure that you have thinks to be thankful for.

 

I'm not cooking for the first time in eons.  We are actually going to have Thanksgiving with my wife's aunt.  It's her first Thanksgiving in an assisted living facility and so we thought we'd go keep her company.

Here's a Happy Thanksgiving story for all you MGSer's

 

A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary.  Every word out of the bird's mouth was laced with profanity. John tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words and anything else he could think of to 'clean up' the bird's vocabulary. but nothing worked.
 
Finally, the day before Thanksgiving when he expected his family at the house, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. In desperation, John threw grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer.   For a few minutes the parrot squawked and screamed.  Then suddenly there was total quiet.
 
Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John opened the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out and said "I want to apologize, sir. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate actions and I intend to do everything I can to correct my rude behavior."
 
John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude.   As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the bird pointed to the freezer and said, very softly, "May I ask what this fellow did to offend you sir?”

I recalled something a while ago when conversing on another blog and I am thankful. This will be the first time in 7 years that I have had a Thanksgiving off. My wife and I are the only ones (we don't have kids or grandkids) so she made Thanksgiving reservations at one of our favorite restaurants 2 weeks ago. But I do feel for all my friends I worked with in the past that have to work today Friends in Law Enforcement and Firefighters/Paramedics and other friends in the towing industry I worked the roads with. Yep for some reason I feel a little guilty but I guess it is a change in lifestyle and employment that was needed
