  1. Good morning all. After a day of constant rain yesterday today is a beautiful sunny day with temperatures around 22 degrees so pleasantly warm. Unfortunately today is the start of 6 duty days so rather limited for golf opportunities. I’m hoping to find the time to get on the putting green and assess different weight positions on the Runner. Hope you all have a fantastic day and @Dead Solid Bogey the hands/wrists continue to improve @sirchunksalot glad the car is coming back. Let’s hope you can get the costs back from the fuel station

  2. Good morning everyone! It's a nicer morning here than yesterday and I'm just drinking coffee getting ready for another day at work. I get my car back today and it'll be nice not to have to take my wife's car away from her every morning, although I'll miss the comfort of her SUV. It's getting closer to the forum meetup and I'm getting excited for it, it's going to be fun getting to meet and play golf with a bunch of you. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

  3. Nice read, Josh. Ready play is definitely encouraged/mandatory in Scotland, even in tournaments. They think you're dawdling if you take 3:30 to play a round. Fortunately I like to play fast so their preference is okay with me, but some of the courses around here... haven't discovered ready play.

  4. Ordered a PXG 9* driver, and tracking showed it arriving today Monday the 6th). So I was IMMENSELY please when it showed up last Thursday, as I had a golf weekend booked! Put a FreeFlex MetaFlex 6H shaft in it, and hit 27 / 32 fairways, so I can't be too mad about how it performs! Lacks the raw distance of my Darkspeed, but accuracy is definitely higher. Also got the Golf Pride reverse taper pistol grip in, and installed Thursday, prior to leaving

  5. Good morning MGSpies from a not so dark downtown Buffalo parking spot by the office building where sunlight is enhancing the still glowing colorful lights on the buildings Stick Figure's Fall into the Sun on Pandora with it's regay bear reminding me of last night's open mic and the full rocking set we played to a full club, heady stuff when it's just for fun. Golf course wasn't as much fun with more golfers than I've seen this year so far and I could only count the 4 groups stacked pretty close in front of us. Impressive though was how everyone seemed to know when they could play without hitting into the group ahead. Smoke didn't gather it's and I know it was me so next opportunity comes this afternoon on the way home from work. Hope golf is a part of your day 22

  7. Good morning all! As expected a beautiful day with enough work to keep my very busy unfortunately. Was able to go for a nice family bike ride at lunch though which was great. Our middle one, was on a little 14 inch bike pedaling as fast as she could was impressive. Trying to get her on the next size up bike and then she will be really flying. Another beautiful day on tap full of more work. Hopefully can get outside for a bit later today. Have a great Tuesday everyone!

  8. Good morning spies from the point of wishing that there was a short break between thunderstorms. Dogs are trying to time it so that they can get outside but as soon as they see the rain coming down they back away from the door. I’m doing my best to help out by watching the radar trying to find them a gap which should be here in 15-20 minutes. They are sitting at the door and staring out the window while I imagine that they are wondering if it will ever stop at this point. All this rain is messing with my golf schedule something fierce. It seems that every afternoon that I have free time it’s raining. Might be going through golf withdrawals Have a great day spies!

    How'd you play?

Played my first league round today shot 41 with a double on a par 3. We play a points game and skins. You get 4 points for birdie, 3 for par 2 for bogey and 1 for a double. My quota was 17 and I got 22. Each point is worth money but you never know how much each point is worth until everyone is done playing, it could be 2 dollars to 5 dollars for each point I won't know until next week. I was already told by the league secretary my points for next week are 20. Play well everyone.

  10. Good morning Spies on this partly cloudy and cool Tuesday morning here in the Motor City. @sirchunksalot Jason, best of luck with getting your vehicle back, and recouping the out-of-pocket expenses you have from those responsible. Really wasn't anything you did which caused the poor fuel to be put into the tank. Rain and storms moving in later this afternoon and supposed to last through the night. Hoping that the forecast for tomorrow being sunny and warm is correct, as that is the expected delivery date for my Motocaddy to arrive. Spent most of yesterday playing around in the garage, on both golf clubs, and cars, and then helped a "new to me" neighbor out when he had a vehicle stored which would not start after winter hibernation. "New to me" only from the fact that he may have lived here for a while, but my work schedule never allowed any prior interactions. May try to get some range time in later today, made some shaft length and swingweight changes to driver and fairway woods. Shorter shafts, more back to traditional lengths than the newer club specs. Save me from gripping down to ensure center contact. Lastly, huge congratulations to the testers selected for the Stix and Vokey testing here. Looking forward to the comments and reviews. Hope your day is the best it can be, and that something enjoyable is in your plans.

  14. The new Titleist Vokey SM10 wedges were released in March of this year and have been a popular addition to many golfers' bags since. We are looking for four golfers to test, review, and keep a set of Titleist Vokey SM10 wedges. About The Vokey SM10 Wedges MyGolfSpy Staff member Tony Covey has a complete breakdown of the new SM10 wedges here , which is a must-read, but the shorter version is Vokey SM10 is focused on three key elements: versatility, distance control, and trajectory, and maximizing spin. The Vokey SM10 lineup has six different grind options for a total of 25 different loft, bounce, and grind options. This includes the M Grind that had previously only been available through WedgeWorks and T Grind that has also made its way to the retail market. The other options that a golfer must choose from are the finish, and the SM10 has three of them: Tour Chrome, Jet Black, and the new addition Nickel. There’s more though; the Vokey SM10 has refined the shape and CG placement to help optimize distance control and trajectory. This works in tandem with their spin-milled grooves that have groove geometry that varies depending on the loft to maximize spin for each loft. Titleist Wedge Selector Tool Of course, all of this can be a lot to take in, so Titleist offers an online Wedge Selector Tool to help simplify things. It is a series of eight questions which gather various information about your current setup and game to help make the best recommendation on what setup would be best for you. To try it yourself, go here! WEDGE SELECTOR TOOL Please welcome and congratulate our four testers! @HeathS16 @snoopy79 @MIGregB @Chubbs1991

  15. They are “softer” than the Maxfli Tours. They have a nice squishy feel off my irons when well struck. Took awhile to get used to the putter as we have fast greens.

I gave up the treadmill during my cardio rehab exercises; my knee just can't take it anymore. Today I used the recumbent cross trainer and hit 3.5 miles, 401 calories, averaging 7-7.5 mph for 28 minutes. Worked up quite a sweat. Today was speed and distance; the next session on Friday will be intervals - 3 minutes at a comfortable pace then fast pace for 1 minute. That's easier.

    How'd you play?

Victor Hills East…it’s $22 to walk 18 and while it ins’t the best conditioned course it has a lot of tricky holes that aren’t the typical bombs away. I am feeling it after walking 3 hours but man it felt good. Shot 37 / 38 with some really good holes and some not so good. A lot of good work with the S159’s for the forum testing and had 3 tee balls with the infamous U505 that I’d been struggling with. @GolfSpy_SHARK will be pleased to hear that it was working quite well today. Also made some changes with my driver setup @chisag and the TSi3 is working well. I am setting the ball up off the heel rather than the toe and contact has been night and day better. I’m also at a D3 setting which surprising to me, has worked out in my favor. This was a bit of a process on the range last week and I needed a new approach…so far, so good. Highlight of the day was tee balls on the par 3’s. I hit every green and feel really dialed in with my irons right now. Feeling good. Hope you all are having as much fun.

  22. Good morning everyone. Another dreary morning after storms all night. On the upside, courses are greening up nicely and the greens are recovering quickly from being aerated. Now I just need some time to get out and enjoy it. Last busy week on my schedule and then I’ll get to enjoy my afternoons after work. Hope everyone has a great day ahead.

  23. Update to the build. We are onto sanding shafts. If you are wondering, WHY ARE YOU SANDING SHAFTS? For the build, I decided to go with full white shafts. I tried purchasing full white shafts for the build, but the few vendors that do offer it, only offer this with cut and tipped shafts. I didn't want to deny that portion of the build for the viewers, so we are DIYing it! Next up, we will be hitting shafts with primer. Stay tuned fellow spies!

  24. The story behind the DTX is that our machines couldn’t run a cord material without clogging the machine. I designed this grip specifically to try get to as much traction as possible.:it is a great grip…I might be biased though..

  25. I have been playing the RXS Mindsets and I can solidly say that I like how they stop on the greens. Shot a solid 42/40:82 today. With my course Hcap of 9, that put me at +1 net. I am really liking the RXS.

  26. Played a first round after work today and got some pretty good drives with the SF405x- equipped Qi10 Max. Best drive was a 246yd fade that got buried in the very wet ground and took a while to find...which the bugs were quite happy about! Note to self: BRING BUG SPRAY!!!!! No data beyond phone golf app for distances. The shaft is starting to grow on me!!

  31. Continued good thoughts and wishes for both you and your lady for her fast and complete medical recovery……. I went from steel to AeroTech SteelFiber shafts in my irons about 7 yrs.ago…. Still play Aerotech in my hybrids and wedges. Only play 7-PW in irons in the Titleist 350’s. Continuing with using graphite shafts for those irons. Went to senior citizen graphite shafts in those with ( Mitsubishi Tensei AV Red AM2 ) Senior/light/action. The orthopedic specialist I recently went to about my hands and wrists believes that the vast majority of nerve and joint damage is from a lifetime of atrocious life style choices and that golf was at worse at the periphery of causing damage. Unfortunately playing golf did and possibly will accentuate the pain in the hands and wrists. I have had to also attempt to change from a steep attack angle swing to more of a sweeping style.. That isn’t going so well, so far. It is still a work in progress.

I'm in the planning stages of my annual trip to Pinehurst in July. Likely it will include 3 nights, and 2 rounds of golf. July can be horrible hot down there, but it is a tradition for my wife and I to spend our anniversary there. I did give her an out this year, asking her where she would like to go for our anniversary trip, and she responded Pinehurst with no delay in responding.

  33. Fortunately my knees are still good. My back is another issue, after two surgeries and with 25 extra pounds or so hanging over my belt, which does that post-op back no good at all. I'll settle for dropping 15 of those for now.

  36. Just put the Wilson Dynapower Titanium driver in the bag today. Love it so far. Replaced a 14 year old Taylor Made R9. Before pulling the trigger on the Wilson I tested Titilest TSR3, Ping 430 Max 10K and Taylor Made Qi10. All good experiences at PGA Superstore and Golf Galaxy. The Ping and TM drivers did not suit my eye, heads too big. I’m more of an old school, traditional guy. Really liked the Titleist until I tested the Wilson which was my last fitting. Suites my game best, great looks and the numbers were almost perfect. Whitey from Wilson was also awesome!! Gamed it this morning and missed four fairways. Really happy with the results and feel. Needs a tweak or two to get the optimal ball flight (high baby draw for me) but I’ll get there.

... Pretty excited about today. After playing my home course basically all winter because it is $36 to walk while most Phoenix courses charge $250-$350 all winter long, the summer pricing has s rated so I am playing one of my favorites today, Verrado Founders. One of my playing pards has never played there so he is in for a treat. $68 with a cart so a little high for a twilite rate but a fair price. ... Some nice pictures in the photo gallery: https://verradogolfclub.com/founders

    The Good Morning Thread

Today has been a blur. Don't know if it's because it's a Monday or because work has been crazy. On a golfing note, I'm trying to set up a "league" of sorts with 7 golf friends who want to try to golf every Thursday evening. None of us wanted to join an actual league, but just want to try to set a day every week to be sure we're getting to play a little. I'd like to tour the many different courses in our area and maybe set up some short and long-term competitions. I don't think we're going to get it in this week because after today, it's supposed to be wet. We'll see how it all pans out. Have a good day everyone! @StrokerAce - Still sad that she has any cancer. Cancer Sucks! Glad it's a fairly common one that can be treated though! @Shrek74 - Happy Birthday! Enjoy yourself! @Josh Parker - Great article! Comments are buzzing! It's something I need to work on. I started golf on a HS golf team and we ALWAYS played traditional out-to-in golf. It's hard to change mindsets sometimes. Definitely appreciate saving some time (so does SWMBO!!)!

Well I had a ball fitting with a consult from Titleist and after using Stixon Z Stars and consistently shooting rounds in the 90’s I tried the Pro V1. Conditions were poor wet, windy and greens were very hit and miss, some were soft others firm. Well after breaking 90 I think I’m converting to the Pro V1

  50. Just bought three polos from Byrd Gang, and think they're kind of fire. They're doing a buy-1-get-2-free (I know...it's ridiculous) special, which is the only reason I'd buy a $70 polo - when it's not really a $70 polo - Link below to snag yours, and if you use it, I get a store credit - obviously no pressure to use it, though. It's an INSANE deal, and I think they're going to look slick as hell https://www.byrdgang.com/MATTHEW46915 (Here's the three that I bought)
