Anyone seeing these on courses? How far are we from this technology supplementing or replacing conventional course mowing?
Here's a interesting article from the USGA on the subject. None too happy about their ball rollback decision but good to see them studying advancements such as this. Here is a course just outside Scottsdale that has implemented some robotic mowers. But, according to this article, a course in the UK is the first in the world to become "fully managed" by robotic mowers.
Thoughts?
Maybe fairways, but Bill… you’ve played here; do you see these working on the grassy mounds where our rough is?
I imagine lots of things happening. What if it misses a section; will the course eventually look like crap? While it supposedly won’t run into anything, it might and then lawsuits if it were a golfer/child. I’m sure it will run over a ProV1 just like the guys do here on their mowers. Martha is worried about her squirrels.

While I don’t normally wear a golf glove, I will when hitting multiple shots in my hitting bay and when playing in hot, humid weather which I don’t normally do. However, since we are headed to Virginia to play in the MGS Forum Outing at Kingsmill in late May, I’m assuming that it might be humid.
I prefer the Kirkland gloves because of the cost and they wear well. Our Costco only carries the glove for the left hand and I wanted to also get a right hand glove. So, while ordering online yesterday, I noticed that Costco carries True Linkswear shoes. Well now… I don’t need new shoes, but I haven’t worn Trues for several years. Used to wear them all the time. So, being a good ‘ho I ordered a pair for me and a pair for my wife (she has a difficult time finding a shoe that fits well) and if they don’t fit, it’s easy to return then… much easier that ordering from an online golf store.
My $28 purchase of 4 golf gloves just turned into $300. Oh well.

wow - those are some beautiful willow trees!
why does the sky always seem "bigger" out west?
Might be different where you live, but when I lived in the D.C. area the terrain was so flat and trees surrounded you so the horizon seemed like only a mile or so away. Most places in the west you can see for 10’s of miles. I can walk up to the top of the hill behind our house and see Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams in the Cascade Mtns, a hundred miles away. There is a reason Montana is Big Sky country.

I’ve had both cart and stand bags. Even though I ride in a cart with my wife most rounds, I prefer a stand bag… she has a Sun Mountain Maverick cart bag. I take my bag to the range and practice area on days I don’t play, and legs are important to me. My favorite stand bag has been the Wilson Staff Nexus bag, but it’s about on it’s last legs… so to speak! It fits on a cart and my SM push cart.
Last year I bought the MGS Forum Jones Trouper bag and as a carry bag, I love it but it doesn’t fit my push cart or a riding cart very well. This winter I didn’t want to subject my creme colored Jones bag to mud and goose poop, so I put the Nexus bag back play. I almost bought the Sun Mountain C-130S stand bag when the Jones bag purchase was made but held off. I never put much in a bag anyway, so having a bag that big doesn’t appeal to me.
Curiously, I was looking for a new bag to put on my cart and have been waffling between the Callaway Fairway 14 hybrid bag and the OGIO Woode hybrid bag. Not a huge fan of 14-way tops since I have midsize grips and my putter doesn’t fit well unless there is a dedicated putter well… not many of those on stand bags. Well… the OGIO bag will be here next week!! Pictures to follow...

Todd Graves is the one bombarding my email box. I think I tried to unsubscribe, but they keep coming.
When I had lessons from him, GGA was an up and coming academy; I liked all of their instructors, but then they because very commercial and a big turn off. I haven’t seen anything from them in 8 years.

Well, since the house is on the market…
I will be transferring to Hawaii this summer, and I am promoting to Chief Warrant Officer in 2 weeks. Looking forward to a new chapter in my career and be able to play golf 366 days a year (on leap years) soon.
Could use some good vibes from you all on the house sale, we were expecting to be here for 6 years, but 2 is what we got…
Congratulations Alan! Nice to see you on the forum again. I’m sure the house will sell, especially with nice weather on the way.

I wish I was around when Moe Norman was alive. How many people would come up to him on the range and give him some advice!
Took lessons and attending a couple of clinics on Moe Norman’s swing from Todd Graves. It did fix my slice.

Good Morning everyone!! @Dead Solid Bogey and @William P… sorry I didn’t post yesterday… thanks for pointing that out in the Good Evening thread. It’s good to be missed, I guess! Wife and I had a couple of errands to run, and for some reason she asked if I wanted to walk 9 holes; something she doesn’t want to do very often. Couldn’t say no, could I?
The weather was sunny but a little cool at 54º. I did want to see how bad the course is after aeration… not bad really!! Not an aggressive punch on the greens and they rolled pretty well. Had to bump the ball out of the plug holes in the fairways. I treated this as a practice round, so I brought my Ping reverse armlock Kuchar-style putter to try out. Had decent speed with it and made a 6-inch birdie putt. Still doesn’t feel as good as my regular Ping putter; I need to work with setup and ball location. I did get in 9000 steps according to my Garmin S62 watch.
Here’s a pic walking down #7 looking to the SW where most of our weather comes from; also looking in the direction of our house. We made it back to the clubhouse just before a few sprinkles started and the wind hit with 45-50 mph gusts; blew my stand bag over in the parking lot while loading clubs in the trunk. As we left the parking lot, lightning was hitting the top of the hills behind our house. Strange time of the year for lightning for us.

I’ll follow. Since you have already Broke 90 and an 18 ‘cap, I think breaking 85 is very achievable… maybe sooner than you think.
When you post about your rounds, mention the hole where the score wasn’t good and why you think that happened. What’s your plan for next time you play the hole, and what are you going to practice to improve. Focus on the part of your game that caused the problem.
Best of luck!!

Help!! I need putter advice!
I know there will be no shortage of that here especially on one particular brand. But i haven't felt comfortable with a putter in the last 6 months Including the following
Scotty 1.5 Flowback-my gamer for the past 2 years.
Odyssey Ai 1 Rossie a couple rounds
PING Shea-a couple rounds
EVNROLL 11 some good days and some really bad ones!!
MEZZ Max was good but not great. Only a month or so with it. I didn't miss any short putts inside 3 feet, but I didn't make ANY putts in the 10 foot range and I'm usually good for a couple of those a round.
Look at these stats yesterday. Yes, I'll take the shame of publicly posting a 49....I deserve it
Granted i played on greens that were aerated 24 hours earlier. Also the lack of greens hit isn't too alarming. I played tees longer than I normally do and was into a wind all day. Par 3’s and 1 par 5 were the only ones i was capable of reaching. And all just barely missed. Driver was excellent (more on that in my driver shootout thread) and hitting 7 fairways and 23 putts just doesn’t work. If I had a "decent" day putting I would have shot 43 or 44 and been pretty happy. Call me the Scottie Scheffler of the Forum
Ok so lets hear any and all thoughts
Rob, I won’t go into putter advice or the putting stroke for that matter. Many good comments above. I’m looking at your scorecard, and most all GIR misses were short; understandably playing from longer tees and windy conditions. All of the doubles were short, meaning that the chip/pitch could have been better or the pins were in difficult locations. Personally, I find chipping on aerated greens to be very frustrating; ball doesn’t react like usual. If the holes are located in difficult positions, 3-putts can happen on those aerated greens. Don’t beat yourself up over 9 holes played under less than ideal conditions.
I guess what I’m saying is that your putting may not be as bad as you make it out to be. You haven’t been playing or practicing, and you may have introduced a compensation for the quality of the greens. It’s quite easy to unconsciously move your body during the stroke. Monte pointed that out to me at a clinic, and I have to work prior to each round to eliminate it. Get back on that green and putt with a purpose.
However, since I am also a MGS Forum Member, I would suggest that you should awaken your club ‘ho tendencies and pick a putter; something totally off the wall.

oh yeah... My town has two traffic circles that are directly north-south from each other along the same pretty busy road and only about 1/4 mile apart... The first one put in is actually a little smaller so occasionally someone will miss the radius either too tight or too wide. And yes - I see many "C" car drivers!!!
FYI, I’m a “D" car driver.

She is a friggin trooper!!
It's all just prep for the Kingsmill trip where she's gonna shame at least half, I'm guessing, of us guys ...
Wishing you both the best
Well, not really. You have to remember that she played with her dad starting at 8 years old, through H.S., but didn’t play much for 30 years because of her back and literally working in the dark. She owned a custom photo lab and “lived” in the darkroom; in winter… go to work in the dark, work in the dark, go home in the dark. When I met her in 2000, she was still playing PowerBilt persimmon woods and blades. After her back surgery in 2008, she really started to play a lot, and when she retired in 2019 she wanted to spend as much time as possible outside on the golf course. Who can blame her?!
She’s excited about Kingsmill and meeting the guys that she only knows by the posts I read to her. She’s lost a bunch of distance recently because the next vertebrae up from the fusion is now causing problems. You will definitely like her because… well, she’s Irish!!

Years ago, our area got an influx of roundabouts; someone must have made a visit to Europe, but downsized them to where they are hazardous when a lot of traffic is present. West Richland put in one about 5 years ago, and this last fall they took it out; too many accidents!
In Kennewick at the intersection of two 4-lane freeways US395 and WA240, there is a double intersection that 18-wheelers have trouble negotiating without running over curbs...

Had another article posted to the main MGS site concerning my own experience with cold plunging…check it out and share your feedback (to include commenting on the article if you’re so inclined).
I’ve also started a thread if there’s any interest in further discussion. It’s become a big part of my daily routine, but maybe I’m just that certifiably nuts. Let me know.
I used to do this, and thankfully I’m not anymore! Not something people with heart problems should do; constricts arteries raising blood pressure. Checking with your doc would be a good idea before starting.

Good Morning everyone!! A little rain started early this morning and 44º; sprinkles most of the day and only low 50’s. Wife is headed out to play with Ladies League. Not sure how she’ll play with the heart monitor glued to her chest, but she has to get used to it over the next two weeks. Warmer weather coming!!
Got a few chores to do and spending time in my hitting bay stretching and light exercise; not going anywhere today!!
For those that are working… make us proud! For those that aren’t working… play well!!

Good morning! Very cold morning here in Branson! We again need to stick to indoor activities. Started at the Butterfly palace and then move on to a tour of the Table Rock Dam. Both were very interesting!
Now we’re hoping the kids take a nice nap before we all go to the Sight and Sound show: Esther!
Also, today is my birthday and I’m happy to report I got some golf stuff!
Have a good day everyone!
Happy Birthday!! Sounds like you are having a lot of fun.
Love True shoes!! Don’t wear any currently, but will be looking at them later this year. I still have their original “clown” shoes!!
